Please take this into consideration, especially if you are installing a natural stone…read more Stephen was nice, but I cannot express how completely unsatisfied I am with his company. Our shower renovation was an absolute disaster. When they installed our marble floor and shower tile, it was visibly not sealed properly, as dark spots were visible on the tile where the water hit. We were told the tile was sealed 5 times and that it was the tile that was just porous. There was also excess grout on the tile that was sealed into the bathroom floor. Stephen also told us it was not necessary to move the shower valve from the bath height to shower height, which looks very weird now that the shower floor was raised 6 inches from where the tub was. 6 weeks later, black mold appeared all along the faces of the bottom row of shower tiles. Stephen came back to reseal it with a different sealer, and afterwards the entire shower had uneven coloring, with permanent dark drippy spots and wiping patterns. A marble specialist concluded that there is a moisture problem stemming from the initial installation of the tile, and there was likely a chemical reaction that occurred between them cleaning off the mold and applying the sealer the second time. His opinion is that it wouldn't be worth trying to salvage the tile. Even if he sanded down and refinished the tile there is no guarantee how far down the damage goes. Once we got the opinion of the marble specialist, Stephen has ignored my calls and emails and refuses to take responsibility for his mistakes. I would never recommend him to anyone.

Summary: Soma Tile (Lucas) is a partner through the process and his team is comprised of skilled…read moreand courteous professionals. I would not hesitate in referring them to anyone looking for bath and tile work!! Preface: Let me start this tale with some background. This project was not an exciting "Lets update our 20 year old bathroom and make it stylish and pretty". Instead the project started due to an undetected leak, the stress that comes from random water leaking in random places, and was filled with questions and concerns. Countless others "assured" me that this was a plumbing issue or just due to some neglected maintenance on a 5 year old new-install shower - and then wanted to blast holes everywhere to "find" the leak. At the same time, I did not want to rip apart a shower to then find out it might be plumbing and now a full on repair. I felt overwhelmed in making the wrong choice and doing 2 projects chasing my tail. Lucas walked me through all the typical scenarios that he has seen, leaning on the most probably is a structural fail of the shower system and then did a methodical exploration. A couple hours later and a minimal demo, he confirmed that it was in fact not plumbing related and was def. a failure of the shower system -- and walked me through what it would take. Once his team was onsite, they were focused - creating a whole "clean room" at the entry to the bathroom. 1 day demo, 1 day water-proof, 2 days tile - all while providing the proper time for dry-out and leak testing between steps. Lucas is a perfectionist, being critical on the most minor details -- which to someone that also strives for this level, but has no idea what they are looking for, was very much appreciated. Additionally, he has instilled this value in his team - that are true craftsman with their skill. Each step of the process was walked through, discussed, and made sure we understood the task, goal, and expectations. This is why I say Lucas/Soma Tile was a true partner in this project, as it wasn't a fun project -- it was an overwhelming stressful start where Soma Tile helped take some of the burden and concerns off our shoulders and work it through with their own expertise, experience, and dedication - ensuring every step was executed with precision. Soma Tile knows their craft - Lucas is a partner, his team are craftsman. Huge Thanks to Lucas, Jesus, and Miguel -- not to forget Jose who magically appeared on the last day to leave the place spotless.

Lucas patiently reviewed design options with me and provided insightful guidance throughout the install. The attention to the smallest detail, combined with the use of a laser to ensure straight lines of tiles was impressive. No detail was overlooked! The color selection of grout was carefully coordinated with the tile. The workmanship is OUTSTANDING! The team demonstrated the same quality standards as they grouted and cleaned the tile repeatedly. Upon completion, Lucas, and his team cleaned the bathroom, and their work area. Soma tile was on time and a pleasure to work with! They truly are craftsman and take pride in their work. I would strongly recommend Lucas and his team.

The tile we saw at other places (Home Depot, Menards) was about the same price point for the nicer stuff at Home Depot, etc, so don't be deterred. Yes, you can spend a TON here but there are reasonably priced options too- and they don't rush you/pressure you. We also called the shop a few times with installation questions and the staff answered all of our questions. Some people noted issues with the return policy- I can't speak to that because we haven't had to return anything yet. The receipt states you can return whatever you don't use- but I recommend asking about that policy since others state they had issues with it. Only one tile arrived cracked and the shop sent a replacement. One box of tile was missing, and the shop immediately sent a replacement for that too. As with any big order, count everything when it arrives and call the shop immediately if needed.

We got great help with the design phase on what would and wouldn't work. Their show room is put together well so it's easy to imagine how things will look. We got great advice on colors, grouts, and some technical aspects that we wouldn't know about. The products are great and we're ecstatic about the look of the finished product. Kudos to Laura and the rest of the Tile Shop gang. THANKS!

Since I didn't need it for several weeks, I was told they would tag it and hold it for me. After several weeks my sales person called and said that the piece that I selected was not big enough for the side splash. I returned to Marble and Granite and identified another piece that would work for the side splash. After several weeks, I called and said I was ready for somebody to come to my house and measure. Somebody from scheduling would call and set an appointment. They never called. After a month of waiting, they called and set up the appointment. Measurements were taken. After another month I received a call stating that there was an issue with the vein match. I returned to Marble and Granite. The remnant that they were showing me was different from the one that I had initially selected. They said "no this is the one you selected. I took a picture of the original and it was different. However, the second remnant was a good match. So, I went with that piece. Finally, after several weeks, they came to install. Everything looks great, until the clear calk dried. It looked like black mold was growing between the wall and the back splash. I sent a picture to my salesperson who turfed me to Tom. This guy was the most arrogant and insulting person that I have ever met. He said it was the backing that was showing. After going back and forth with him his suggestion was to paint it the same as the wall. Not an acceptable answer. After the clear silicone dried, I noticed that the edges on the entire counter top were jagged. I'm not a fabricator, but this looks like the blade was dull or they didn't take the time to polish it properly. I am very disappointed with the workmanship. I would never do business with Marble and Granite Tech.
