My husband and I are planning on remodeling our kitchen and were given referrals by The Home Improvement Network, iBuild being one of them. We received a call from iBuild to make an appointment to have Tony, the owner, come out and give us an estimate. They called us twice before the appointment to confirm. One hour before the appointment, they called to tell us Tony was running late and would need to reschedule. We told them we'd be home all afternoon and evening so if he needed to come later, no problem. Just asked them to give us a call and let us know. He never called. A few weeks later, we received a call asking us how our appointment went and if we were ready to start our project. We told her Tony never showed up, she said she'd look into it and get back to us. About a week later, we received a call to reschedule the appointment. Two hours before the appointment, they called to cancel again. If Tony wasn't interested in the job, it would have been better for him to just have someone let us know. I wouldn't trust a business owner who can't show up for an estimate to be able to have the job done. read more

We recently completed a first floor renovation with iBuild and are exceptionally pleased with the results. Our project included installing hardwood, all new trim and interior doors on the first floor, new windows, lofting our family room ceiling, masonry on the exterior brick and interior fire place, load bearing wall removal (including installing a 16 foot steel header beam), relocating the powder room door and a full kitchen gut - to the studs (which included plumbing, electric, etc.) We went into the project with a rough plan for the kitchen. Tony and Michelle worked with us from the start to modify the kitchen design to maximize efficiency in our space and fit our family's habits and needs. We revised and tweaked the design several times based on changes we made and recommendations from them. With each of their recommendations, they explained the "why" behind it - after designing so many kitchen spaces, they are experts and understand functionality and flow - and now that we're in our finished space, I appreciate every change they recommended. Their experience was what we needed to achieve a well-designed kitchen. Like any project, there were unknown factors until the demolition was finished and you could see what was behind the walls. And like most projects, we had a few challenges. Voytek, on Tony's team, found solutions for every problem to ensure we achieved our goals and the space was what we had envisioned. Tony made sure we did so, within budget. Our daily team included Slavic and Chris. They were respectful, easy to work with and cleaned up where they'd been working each day - we were still living in the home during the renovation so this was especially appreciated. They were able to take a photo I would send to them of a finished element - trim, a new mantle, etc - and recreate it to fit into our space, giving us a truly customized project. Their attention to detail was meticulous. Patti works in the iBuild office and was available to answer our questions, provide suggestions and help keep our project on track. She was instrumental in getting our permit and provided the dose of humor we needed to keep us sane during the renovation. She's Tony's right hand and keeps a very busy team on track. I have shared my experience and iBuild's phone number with those I know who are looking for help with their own renovation. These guys were great. I had 5 quotes to rehab an old bathroom project. My house is very old so I needed guys with experience working in our neighborhood. Tony gave me a price that was extremely reasonable - second most affordable of the 5. On Day 1 of construction Voytek and Erik showed up and taped the work area to prevent any wear of bringing in equipment. 3 weeks later the bathroom is complete and fully inspected - and completed on budget. There were typical mis-fires for a project but Tony did exactly what was needed to correct the small issues and get us back on track. Stuart and his crew came to my rescue when my tenant called and said that there was a leak in their roof. The Ibuild crew worked quickly with my insurance company and installed tarps to prevent further damage to the inside of the home. When the roof supplies were delivered, they installed a beautiful new roof. In the process, they did other needed repairs at a very low cost. All of the staff were conscious of the old roof and nails "trash", they cleaned as they went. I have been renovating a 120 year old house and have hired more than 20 companies to do one thing or another and I can count on one hand those that I would have back. iBuild is one of them. Tony's crew framed out my basement, relocated an I beam and electrical conduit, and dry walled. He showed up to provide the estimate and was very flexible with the schedule. His crew started right away and did an excellent job on what was not an easy job due to the many corners, small walls, and blow in insulation. The price was a quarter of what the other bidders quoted and the work was great. I am in the trades as well and know they didn't cut corners. We have been enjoying our basement and our daughters now have a play room. I will certainly have them back if I have some work that needs to get done. read more

The iBuild team did a kitchen refresh for us five years ago and we remain very pleased with that result. This year's project was a second-floor ensuite triggered by an aged and leaking whirlpool tub. This project was forced on us, the timing unexpected. iBuild was one of three contractors we contacted to quote the work. We were clear only on the basic elements... "new tub here", "add shower", "new vanity there", etc. We dreaded the prospect of chasing/choosing fixtures or finishes and we were willing to compromise in order to stay on budget. Of the three contractors who quoted, only iBuild provided the "design support" we needed as part of the job. The other contractors consider this an extra service and quoted it at considerable additional cost. iBuild have their own showroom with sample finishes and they have relationships with vendors who also have showrooms for fixtures. Tony designs the job using modern computer-aided design tools so we can see the plan and impact of changes. There are also the pleasant surprises: "we'll do a bath tub shelf here", "let's put in a shower niche in there", the stuff we'd only have thought of after the job was done. This support made our job of picking fixtures/finishes much easier. iBuild's design tools and guidance ensured we all understood the job and budget. Tony charged us nothing extra for his design work and guidance; it's just an up-front part of iBuild's service. The iBuild crew (Slavic and Chris) arrived promptly on the start date as promised. They laid down tarps and covers to protect floors and keep the dust to a minimum each morning. They cleaned up and removed the tarps/covers at the end of each day. They worked long days to finish as quickly as possible and minimize the disruption to our lives. The bulk of the work was completed in a week and longer-lead items (hardware, custom shower glass) were installed within the month as they became available. Tony and his team worked with us to get the best possible result. There were no shortcuts, no nickeling/dime-ing for extras. The completed project was a vast improvement to our home and beyond our wildest expectations. We don't feel we compromised anything for budget and we couldn't be happier with the entire experience and result. Stuart and the iBuild team came to the rescue of my hail storm damaged roof. He helped walk me thru the insurance claim process and within a week a new roof was installed on my house. I want to give this company a good review. I have several friends that have used it and been happy. Tony (the owner) came out in June and walked the front of our house with us and gave us a verbal, on-the-spot bid that was great for a traditional wrap around porch. He was very laid back and very knowledgeable, and we liked him right away. I explained to him that we had elevation drawings done already by an architect (gave him a copy) and needed to get permit drawings done, so we would need a detailed, written bid to submit with our drawings to the City of Evanston. It is now the end of October (almost 5 MONTHS later), and I have emailed him 4 or 5 times, I have called their office 4 or 5 times to try to get a written bid, and we are officially done with iBuild. He was so laid back about it, saying he only needed 5 weeks notice because he has three teams of porch builders, but the problem is, you need PERMITS and architectural drawings to do this job, not just calling up a contractor and telling them you want them to build you a porch in a few weeks. Our architect also tried reaching out. Since this all went down, I found out my neighbor also had him come out and give them a verbal bid on a kitchen job, which he never followed up with. 6 months later he went back to them and they had already started the job with someone more responsive. If this is indicative of this company's follow-through or work ethic, run the other way. UPDATED based on their response, below, which appears to be a blanket response and nothing to do with me. If you are withdrawing a bid and someone says they chose you based on that bid, you notify them. We tried contacting you a number of times over 5 months. We left messages saying we wanted you to do the work. The owner of this company said the job was easy, no problem, he has three porch crews, and it would take 2 weeks. Never once did you all say anything about withdrawing a bid-you just never got back to us at all. That's terrible customer service. read more

We had an incredibly positive experience with Jon Mark and his team. We contacted him about installing a new roof. From start to finish, he offered excellent customer service. At the beginning of the process, he helped us understand how the insurance process works for a new roof, and at the end of the process, his team had our new roof completely installed in one day. His team even added some extra touches (painting our pipes on the roof, etc.) to make our house look sharp, and they went around and made sure to clean up any debris from the roofing. Really cannot recommend them more highly, particularly given the unfortunate stories we've heard regarding other companies. #iBuildShield read more
