Practicing Tai Chi here is a terrific way to reward both body and soul. You soak in the sunlight and connect with nature, surrounded by trees and a warm community of fellow practitioners. The classes are free and perfect for beginners. Angie is an extraordinary teacher who has built a fantastic, supportive community. I can't express enough how much I appreciate this experience--highly recommended!

The calm and focus the practice provides sets my tone for the week. I've tried yoga a bunch of times but the static poses weren't for me. And sitting still to meditate doesn't work for me either. Tai chi is like a moving meditation that allows me to tune out the world and my thoughts (or at least keep trying to--it's a practice). At first, it seemed like a lot to learn, but Angie breaks down the movements step by step and reminds us that "any movement is good movement" in case people are still learning. I used to park myself right behind one of the regulars and follow him, and now I'm one of those regulars myself Even though I've been coming for years, I still find new subtleties in different parts of the form. It has also given me great balance, better than I've ever had in my life. I once took a tai chi course that met inside and was very technically precise. I so much prefer doing it outside in the park. Sometimes I wish for specific critique of my form but we do get that during the periodic intermediate/advanced classes she offers. There are generally anywhere from 25-50 people at a session. It's donation based (cash or Venmo), so free if you want to just check it out. I always give because it's so worth it to me.

If you like Chinese food and are not eating here you are insane…read more Ok. The buns. Ok the dumplings. Made daily. Perfect. Best in OC. Like so much better than DTF it's a joke. And the rest of the food is great too. Just ate the snake fish in peppers. Amazing balance. Not really spicy. You can taste the fruitiness in the peppers. And you can taste the fish. Chef is a nice guy. From the region in China where they serve a lot of the dishes. Honestly - my fave Chinese in OC. The kind of place that would have a mile long line in New York. Just simple food made perfectly. Perfectly.

This place is not it. I took my mom here because she was craving asian food and she did not like…read morethe food at all. We had the fried rice and beef noodle soup which were bland. Also, the utensils are a cheap plastic which I would not recommend be used in hot soup. The restaurants itself is located in a plaza near the entrance with a lot of other restaurants and an Asian supermarket. Parking can be difficult around lunch and dinner so if you do come, please plan accordingly. For this particular restaurant, there are booths along the sides with tables in the middle. When seated, you can see the menu and order via a QR code located on each table. Besides the food, the service was pretty much nonexistent. The staff are all standing around the kitchen talking loudly to each other and it's impossible to get any service unless you walk up to them and then wait for them to finish their convo. The only time any staff approached our table (besides dropping off food) was when they brought the check. Then they are all smiles and compliments as they have you pay and give tip on a electronic device that they hold onto. It wasn't a good experience dining here and I wouldn't come back to this location again.

This is a great place to study a very rich array of Chinese martial arts that all come together…read moreunder the Lau Kune Do umbrella: hard and soft, linear and circular, martial and holistic. These forms have been synthesized together by Sifu Richard Tsim, a 1st generation Chinese American teacher who has studied martial arts since he was very young. On the kung fu side, it's a mix of Hung Gar, Wing Chun and northern Shaolin styles. The Tai Chi is most similar to Wu style, and leads into circular Ba Gua forms. Tai Chi classes also include Qi Gong exercises. The facilities include an indoor and outdoor workout area which are inspiring both to look at and to practice in. Classes are held seven days a week, mornings every day and evenings on weekdays. Students can choose to attend just kung fu or just tai chi classes, but most students do a blend of both. Most of the students here are adults, but there is also now a Youth class for tweens and teens. Very young children would probably not work out well, but a focused 9-15 year old would be right at home. The instructors for that section are especially patient and knowledgeable as martial arts instructors go. You couldn't ask for a better scenario for a young learner.

"Lau Kune Do Temple of Martial Arts" caught my eye while I was riding my bike, trying to survive being stranded for months in LA due to Covid-19. The beautiful building, resembling an Asian Sanctuary, caught my eye and I was lucky to be able to meet and begin training with Sifu Tsim. Having studied Tai Chi since the 70's, in 4 countries, with 7 instructors, I feel confident in recommending Sifu Tsim's Lau Kune Do as "The Real Thing"...this is a purest and simplified approach to internal development and peace in life which, if you are willing to put in the work, will provide you with a reason to smile and stay strong, balanced, and kind every day. If you want to learn how to beat people up, this probably isn't the right place. If you want to master yourself and find balance in your life, it is the right place. Sifu Tsim and his capable instructor staff foster a nurturing environment of kindred spirits and dedicated practitioners of the right way to learn and practice martial arts for optimal health, peace of mind, and happiness. If you are accepted as a student, you will be very lucky.
