All symptoms pointed to a failed capacitor, but different websites indicated that could be other causes. Wife started looking around on Thumbtack to find a repair service that would give price on cost of service call and price range to replace capacitor. It was now Sunday morning and most places called seemed hard sell and not willing to give a price. Called Cool Guys and they said they could get a person out that day. To get a price they had the Technician give us a call. Carlos listened to us and gave a price for a capacitor replacement that was consistent with what had from AI and another high pressure vendor. The Cool Guy Experience: Carlos arrived on time. He quickly determined that the capacitor was the problem. He inspected the system for other issues and found none , but told us about a few things to keep an eye on as we have an older system. He replaced the part, educated us on our system, how to maintain it, and even unblocked the primary line that drains condensation after told him that would see water drain from the side of the house (the secondary drain line).Charged the price he quoted. No charge for unblocking the drain line. Overall, this experienced professional communicated well, was kind, and did not try to upsell or over charge. Just a fair price from a small, local, family run business. If we ever need help with our AC again will for sure make them my first call. BTW this company has a lot of positive reviews on Thumbtack.

David methodically tested the system - the compressor outside and the air handler in the "very warm - HOT" attic. Upon diagnosing the system issue, he explained the problems in language understandable to unschooled individuals. He relocated the thermal expansion valve, identified a wrongfully wired connecton and replaced a section of the dran piping that was improperly sloped. David was thorough!
