Unfortunately, after about a decade or more of doing business with this company and tens of thousands of dollars spent, I will never use again. Kenny, my salesperson, has always been customer service oriented but the rest of the company I suppose is getting too big to care about longtime customers. I had some shutters installed on a Friday for which I had put a 50% deposit down. I was not at the commercial rental property, which was vacant, at the time the shutters were installed. Therefore, once the installers finished installing the shutters, they took the keys and I figured that I would finish paying for the shutters once I picked up the keys. I had asked to finish paying for the shutters the following Friday but was prepared to pay earlier if absolutely necessary. Unfortunately, Trinity, the General Manager, and another employee named Teresa took it upon themselves to call me incessantly about the balance; I did not answer the calls because I thought that alerting my salesperson who has been with the company nearly 20 years that I would pay the following Friday when I picked up the keys was sufficient. By that Tuesday (about 48 hours - two business days) after the Friday install, Trinity took it upon herself to have the installers remove the shutters that had just been installed the Friday before. My salesperson tried to intervene and was told that I would have to pay an additional $600.00 to have the shutters reinstalled along with my balance. Now, I will have to dispute the deposit with my credit card company because I've now paid for nothing. I have no shutters...installed or uninstalled. read more

I wish I would have read the reviews before I went with them to install my patio door (I had 2 other quotes). Basically I gave a $2,300 deposit and was told installation would begin 6-8 wks from the time the order was placed after the foreman measured my door in June. It's October 6th and I have not heard from them with an update on the delivery that was supposed to take place the week of Sept. 28th. The first promised/missed delivery date was week of August 25th. They have poor customer service and communication skills, not once have they contacted me with any updates, I always contacted them first. I've contacted the BBB and hopefully they can help me get my deposit back, at this point I do not want them to install my patio door. read more

I ordered 3 security screen doors. The estimator came out right away, gave us a quote.They had the color, price and the style I wanted. When I was ready , I contacted them to order and I could make payments online (another plus). Scheduled the installation, the guy came out and did an awesome job. I highly recommend using this company. Lowes wanted double the price and wanted me to pay extra for the screens !! Totally satisfied customer here! read more

I requested a quote and made a deposit on July 25. As of today there has been no response, no follow-up, no installation and no door. I requested my deposit refunded because I found a company ready to install 2 days after the quote. I was told I could not receive a refund in my deposit. Has anyone experienced the same? read more

I order my doors may 26th 2020 it took them 3 months to install side doors another 2 months to install front and back. They gave me the wrong security door for the front, as of today I still don't have the right door. They didn't even put the peek holes in either door. read more

I had security storm doors installed. Soon after the installation, the doors started to stick and doorknobs were impossible to turn without two hands. I paid a locksmith to take a look, and he said the doors were installed incorrectly. When I called Protector they said I was just out of any warranty. I said I would pay to have them fixed - as it's a danger to have doors that don't open with ease. They said they won't even do paid repairs on their own doors. They suggested I get the doors replaced. These doors were just over a year old. In addition, one door has a spring that has malfunctioned and it slams shut. Would not recommend the company. read more

The worked cost a little bit more than I was expecting, but price is not my main priority. When I hire a contractor I like to know that the work is done right and if anything goes wrong someone will come out the fix it. The work was very professional and I am happy that I chose them to do it for me. The works looks really good. The only reason I did not give them 5 stars is because I tried to change the locks to match all other keys for my house but one of the screws was too tight to get it out. I wish I had thought of this before the installation so I could have had them put matching locks on the doors during installation. read more

Not only was everyone at this office helpful, but they came to my house to estimate for free, the installer called on his way so I knew when to expect them and felt safe knowing who I would be letting in, and the door was a well built (much better than the inferior products at home improvement stores), and even got follow up. They will come to your home for a free in home estimate even though I live in Rochester Hills. You can customize a door from many different styles at an affordable price. It took 3 weeks from the time of ordering to get the door installed. The guy who installed the door, Mike, did an amazing job!!! He was very nice, helpful, and knowledgeable on everything to do with doors. He rebuilt the door frame and gave the door a perfect fit. I am very happy with the final product and would recommend them to anyone. read more

If I could give a zero, I would. Please don't use this company. I bought $2000 in doors. It took them FOUR visits to get them installed. They didn't show up for the first appointment. In the second appointment, they discovered the sales rep measured the wrong door and one of the three that was supposed to be installed would have to be rescheduled. For the third appointment, the lady on the phone told me that she told my husband the installer would be there at 1. Problem? I'm not married nor dating so obviously she was confused. Second. The installer showed up at noon when I wasn't there (because I was not given a confirmation of an appointment at all). Fourth time. I pleaded with them to make me the first appointment of the day. Apparently ALL of the first appointments run long. They promised they would. By 1:00 (and after FOUR phone calls to the office), I was DONE. I told them I wanted a refund. I was told no because one of the doors was special order. The installer showed up about 20 minutes later. Less than a month later, one of the locks broke. Almost a month after placing my initial call about the lock (May 21st), they are SUPPOSED to change the lock this weekend. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO LOCK MY DOOR FOR ALMOST A MONTH. On top of that, the door is starting to rust. The lady says she'll have the tech spray paint it. REALLY? Look folks, I'm used to abuse. I've been a Comcast customer for MANY years. In my opinion, Protector is 1000 times WORSE than Comcast. Please, go elsewhere. Save yourself the frustration. read more

Personally, I will NEVER spend my hard earned money with Protector Window & Door every again. Allow me to explain. I purchased 2 doors from PWD...a security door and an inner storm door at different times. The most recent purchase was the inner storm door in July 2015. The installer banged up the inside door knob, removed a wheelchair rail that was currently put in place approximately 3 to 4 weeks prior which went along with the new wheelchair ramp that was installed for my 4 year old grandson. Would you believe the installer removed the wheelchair rail needed to get my grandson inside the door without lifting up the wheelchair? When he removed the rail, it left a really nice gap at the bottom of the security gate door allowing bugs to come in at will. I brought this to PWD's attention on numerous occasions and each time was met with opposition and excuses. I was told that they would send someone out to look at the problems, would repair only the door knob and install a door sweep. Now my recent conversation with an employee at PWD stated that they would not install a door sweep or the rail and for me to pay for it. This same employee also stated they were not making any money on me! The employee also stated that the door knob would be replaced. This was communicated to me on July 23, 2015. Keep in mind my security door was in perfect condition until the installer installed the inside door. It was the installer who caused damage to my security door and removed a much needed wheelchair rail that went with the bigger than life wheelchair ramp, which was right at the door! Common sense would say NOT TO REMOVE THE WHEELCHAIR RAIL! But common sense is totally absent when it comes to PWD. The owner stated that if I wanted that wheelchair rail, I would have to pay for it because it was a special order, even though his employee removed the rail when he wasn't supposed to! Not only that, another employee stated that if the original order did not say to use the current rail in place then they remove everything? If that's the case, the order would have clearly stated that all current fixtures would be removed unless written not to be remove...right? I have a copy of it and it doesn't say that at all. The employee also stated that if the wood is rotten around the door and the order did not say to replace the rotten wood, he would have to hang the door on the rotten wood!!! Go figure! So this tells me that PWD doesn't give a care about quality or its customers...only the almighty dollar! Now, since July 24, 2015 my doorknob and the sweep was installed without charge, BUT my grandson's wheelchair rail was not because again, they want me to pay for it. Buyers beware! read more

Unfortunately I did not have a great experience with this company. Found an ad on Craigslist..took 2 weeks before I could actually talk to a guy Mike. Call and left messages at place of business and no return call...I kept trying finally 2 weeks later got him. Ok told him I wanted to get a free estimate already had one...scheduled an appointment did not show up or call...I call him and lied said he called me and since I was not home he moved on to his next appt....well if he called sure was not my number I was at home all day...ok fine I let that slide...scheduled another appt...he really wanted me to come into the office guess don't want to be coming to Detroit even though business in Detroit...but told him I was not able to come...I'm handicap and take care my grandbaby and not driving ...ok he went on scheduled another appt on Saturday...and never show up or nothing I waited a few no call still so I called no answer got voicemail and left a angry message to tell him he's unprofessional and F coming to my home no thanks! Don't get why place an ad on Craigslist for if you don't want to work in Detroit or maybe with black folks you need to state in your ad which areas you deal with, ok butthole! read more
