Luis is extraordinary at his job and once you meet him, you'd understand why. He is an invested and integrated member of the community who works to bridge the connection between property owners / managers and renters. In February, I was looking to move out for the first time in my life, and into an apartment space in Forest Hills. Within 24 hours of submitting my inquiry to him on Trulia, he got back to me and arranged a time and place to meet. Upon meeting me, I felt like he read me like a book because he showed me the place I inquired about, but was also ready to show me another place that was more my style. So we got into his car, and drove a few blocks down in the pouring rain, to a building which impressed me the moment I walked in. It was close to public transit and within my budget. However, there were a few things that made me feel "iffy" about it. But I will quickly dispel them. 1. It was still under renovation. They were gutting the bathroom and everything would be new, but I wasn't sure when it would be done. 2. It was managed by Ditmas Management, which has terrible reviews if you Google them, and they ask for certified checks for the first month's rent and security deposit. Luis promised me it would be done by the middle of the month, February 15th, but in actuality I didn't move in until the 17th. But that was not a big deal and Luis made it really easy to get directly in touch with management to sort it out. And as far as everything has been going so far, my building is very clean and well managed (no rats, bugs, or anything else you might worry about), and my super is a pretty chill dude who is easy to get in contact with. My thoughts about Ditmas Management are that if you're an upstanding citizen holding up your own part of the bargain, then everything will be ok, because they are also just trying to cover their arse and avoid terrible tenants. Overall, the experience with Luis was outstanding and I appreciate all the ways he makes his clients feel like VIP no matter where their price point is at. I would definitely recommend him; for all the effort he goes to accommodate his clients, the brokers fee is well worth it to me. read more

I recently used Luis to rent my studio in Forest Hills. As a first-time renter, I needed someone knowledgable and patient. Luis was both. He answered my (many) questions about the process and made the paperwork a breeze. Perhaps most impressive was the fact that he was available to pick paperwork up from my job (as I could not leave my place of work) not once but TWICE. That dedication made an otherwise possibly stressful situation a breeze. In addition, I have not seen a listing since with a price as affordable for as beautiful of an apartment since I've moved. I'm grateful for the find! Please note that the broker fee was about 10% which is less than Manhattan but still expensive for Queens. Other than this, I was nothing but thrilled with the service provided. I am surprised by the 1-star review below considering Luis met my schedule and was willing to be flexible. Found a posting on Craigslist regarding a 2 BR, 1 BA that was available in Forest Hills by Luis Briones and called a few times with no answer. I kept on leaving voice messages. Eventually I got through in the evening and tried to set up an appointment with him. He said he was showing the apartment to another couple right now and can't talk but I can come tomorrow morning, but with work I asked if I could swing by right now with my baby to see the apartment. He said okay and I said we will be there in 10 minutes or less. I immediately left my apartment with the baby got in the car got there found parking and called him. No answer. Text him, no answer. Waited outside the building for 10 minutes and called again. Then texted again. Nothing. A nice couple let us inside because my baby was getting fussy. We walked around the lobby and waited some more. Finally I decided to leave because it was over an hour later and he calls back to say he forgot about us. What?!!! forgot about us?!! can you believe this guy. How unprofessional. He asked if we still need to see the place and told me about his fees (10% of annual rental cost) which was more than some other local brokers I have been speaking with. No thank you! The place was roach infested and a lot older than the pictures he posted. Photos were most likely 3 or 4 years ago. Don't waste your time with this guy. read more

I was in Buffalo,NY and got a job in nyc so i had to relocate within 2 weeks and was nervous bcs i couldn't look around houses by myself since i was still in buffalo and heard there are many scams going on. So I needed really reliable person whom i can trust and have lots of informations. and it turned out that he is really a nice, reliable, enthusiastic, hard working and sociable person who really helped me in many ways. I moved to near nyc to start working around 5/23 and stayed in hotels until my house contract starts on 6/1. But I had no idea about this region so I had some troubles selecting the good places to stay. Luis gave me many advices about places near nyc and he even called some hotels to find a good deals for me. Other than this, he always tried to help me with miscellaneous things like buying furnitures from previous resident, how to install internet cable at home,how to parallel park on street, how to negotiate over prices at stores..etc. Recently I bought air conditioner that a sales person highly recommended for me, but later realized that it was way too expensive and it has too much energy for my small home. After Luis heard about this he drove over to my home immediately and took that A/C out of my home using the tool that he brought and he took it right to the store that i bought. and he started negotiating over the product with his perfect verbal skills and it saved me $300 bucks lol. After buying the a/c that's good for my house he brought it over back to my home and even installed it for me which was very impressive and thankful. Since my English is not perfect enough to negotiate over prices and this area is perfectly different from the place I came from, I needed many advice and help from the person who really knows well about this place, and it was Luis. He never got angry or panicked even in very busy and panicking situation and he was always willing to help his customers sincerely. He is a family oriented guy with very good speaking skills and is a person who can be loved by everyone.
