When we walked in we were greeted by a cheerful woman (perhaps the owner?) who was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and welcoming. She encouraged us to order any grill items first as they take the longest. We always appreciate that because the little ones get impatient quickly! donuts who? This place was amazing! Our Airbnb hosts suggested it during our stay. Sadly most of my reviews have pictures but with the food so good, I didn't have time to take man. The breakfast sandwiches are made to perfection. They come on a toasted croissant and they are very generous with the meat. The donuts were great! Keep in mind these are your run of the mill corporate donuts that are mass produced and soft. They are fried and made in house. Honestly much better in my opinion. Girl behind the counter is friendly, dudes working with her, not so much. First time I got the breakfast sandwich, blueberry donut, cheese danish and regular croissant. All but the donut were amazing. Second time, got the chicken schnitzel with Buffalo sauce and the mushroom and pepper pretzel. Loved the pretzel. Schnitzel was good. Breakfast sandwich better. Third time, I called in the order. When I got there, I also got the Buffalo pretzel and a croissant. When I paid, the girl behind the counter looked confused and said something happened. One moment. They have this really good apple and cream Danish and their breakfast sandwiches are delicious, especially when you add your favourite sauce free of charge. My one complaint is the service. As someone who works in costumer service in the food industry, I was completely put off by the girl taking my orders attitude. Both times I went, she wasn't welcoming at all, impatient, and insanely rude. However the blonde lady who came across as the super visor made up for the other girls distasteful interaction by being super warm and sweet. We stopped in and just decided to get a few doughnuts and treats to try. We got a stuffed pretzel with ham and cheese, a cheese danish, maple doughnut, apple beignet and a Boston creme doughnut. Everything was very good.... However the boston creme doughnut was probably the best doughnut we've ever had!!!! And we have gone to a lot of doughnut shops. So why was it so good? It was slightly crispy on the outside of the body of the doughnut, inside was moist and doughy and absolutely stuffed with the creme. This wasn't the typical commercially made Boston creme. This was a fresh creamy goodness, that we did not expect and haven't ever had anywhere else. I'm sure it's gotta be homemade. Awesomeness for sure. Service was very good as well. Like I said everything was very good though and absolutely worth the stop. We will be going back for a lunch and some bread to try next. We're very excited! read more

Very good bakery for sweet treats. Their donuts are as good as anyone's on the beach- especially the Boston Cream filled. The star though is the cinnamon rolls. Big, fluffy, and not overly sweet. Proof also makes terrific savory breakfast treats. We've tried several and have enjoyed each. Can be busy during morning time in-season, but lines seem to move ok. Do tend to run out of stuff later in the morning so go early if you have your heart set on something particular. read more

I've been twice while in the area for vacation and the first time I went I got there at 7am when they supposedly opened. No one was there except the baker , someone else showed up around 7:30 to take orders. Nothing was ready until closer to 8am. Found Proof via google, pictures on website looked delish, purchased 5 dozen pastries for my little Bro's early morning wedding on the beach in Nag's Head. They were delish that morning and the day after and the day after that on my jet ride home to the west coast. Everyone loved them! My fave was the Apple Danish, has a little of the cheese filling underneath the sliced apple so you get all your food groups in that baby. Only wish I had had time to try their lunch time sandwiches, which all looked great too! THANK YOU SO MUCH! So thankful we discovered this bakery later in our stay, or else we would have gained way more weight. His stuff is amazing. We live around the corner and this shop has become a weekend morning tradition for us. The baked goods are extremely good. I don't know how they get such perfect lamination on pastries but they are incredible.
