Did you know Pronto Pup created the Corn Dog?!? I didn't but it made sense as soon as I tried one. Pronto Pup feels right at home in the festive vibe of downtown seaside where you can't help but enjoy a corn dog while you stroll. No need to get fancy here because it's one of the best simple corn dogs you'll try. The quick and friendly service was great while we took in the sights of the nearby bumper cars & mini golf. I'd rate it at 2 1/2 stars if I could. Prompt, pleasant service. The corndog was mainly bread the dog was swirled in, producing a dog that had at least 1 /2" of bread covering a thin, tiny sausage. I was hungry, but not that hungry. read more

While visiting seaside this time the Pronto Pup was actually open, unlike when I was here several years ago. We ordered corn dogs and they did not disappoint. A couple of the workers were questionable, but the corn dogs were good. Im glad they were open this time and I was able to get one. read more

Complaints on too much breading are totally valid, I understand. But as someone who doesn't even like corn dogs usually, I don't mind the extra breading! Wish the workers didn't seem so... out of it? Not necessarily on dr_gs just not mentally present it seems??? read more

I enjoy a good corn dog but this was not one of them. The coating was too thick and kind of bready. The beef hotdog itself was very flavorless. I've never had a beef hotdog that was so lacking. The circular thing they put the dog on does make for perfect doneness so at least it wasn't the uncooked dough you sometimes encounter. Staff was friendly. read more

First off, I am not the biggest corn dog fan, I could take them or leave them. However, my girlfriend loves them and we made a slight detour to stop at this place after a long day of driving and hiking. This place is located in a parking garage style amusement park with a Tilt-A-Whirl and bumper cars. For some reason, I found that unappetizing. The shop itself is about the size of the ticket booth. All of the hot dogs are pre-sticked and sitting under tin foil by the window. General I did not get "Good Grade from the Health Inspector" vibes here. The corn dog was good, for a corn dog, but there is so much better food to eat in Seaside that I am not sure why you would really eat this. I bet there are better corn dogs. It gets some points for being quick, cheap and convenient. read more

Always amazing Didn't realize it wasn't a "corn dog" all these years that I have been eating them here. I don't mind waiting for a fresh dipped scorching hot one too. It's been next to the bumper cars for a long time. You have to have a pronto pup if you're in Seaside. read more

The server in the window was really kind and sweet. I was super excited to try one but the whole thing was crazy salty. Like they double salted it or something. I didn't even more than a few bites into it. It was a very good texture of breading but I wish ours weren't inedible I would have given one star for the food but their servers were super friendly. read more

A coast staple. I stopped by the seaside location for the first time and definitely did not disappoint. I was shocked at how pronto puo is everywhere now. I remember going here in the early 80s and it was such a hidden gem! So good! Highly reccomended. read more

We were craving corndogs and fries but they only have corn dogs so we told the lame worker we were ordering fries next door and would be back to order some pronto pups. We placed the order next door and walked back over 2 min later and lights were off & closed sign was up. it was 5:45pm. Are you kidding me? We told her that would be right back. Absolutely awesome! So much food for the very reasonable cost! Above and beyond service! Make no mistake when you order the foot-long, it is absolutely a foot-long! Never been to the highly suggested pronto pup until this summer. So delicious! And they made it right then and there when ordered. I'd never had a freshly made corn dog before. It was so light and fluffy with just the right amount of crunch. Bought one for myself (and had to share it with my two kids to try) My kids immediately asked to go down for two more so they each could have one of their own. I love Pronto Pup and have been to the location in Rockaway Beach with no complaints. I noticed there was a location in Seaside the last time I was out that way and decided to venture from Hillsboro to Seaside to eat there. I checked the hours on Google and it stated they were open from 11:30am to 8:30pm daily. I showed up and despite a sign in the front window that said "Open at 11:30", they were most certainly closed. They really should post updated hours online and on their store front so people know when they are actually open. I would have loved to have eaten a Pronto Pup. read more

I would give it a no star if I could. They claim to be open until 8:30pm and we showed up at 5:45 and the gal said they didn't have fries so we told her we'd go next door order fries and come right back and order our corn dogs and no lie, 3 minutes is all it took and hubby went back and she had closed at 5:47 and so we ordered fries with no corn dogs to go with. We were telling the waitress and she said the same type of thing happened to her when she needed to get cash for the corn dogs and they closed when she left. TERRIBLE!!!!!! read more

A random tourist in another nearby city told us "If you're going to Seaside...GET. The. Corn. Dogs." We did. They were NOT kidding!! We'll drive all the way from Portland for a quick romp on the beach, a couple of these bad boys, and then an hour-plus drive home. Totally crave-able. Totally worth it. read more

I was on a family weekend trip to the coast and for some odd reason, I always end up being the tour guide for my family and of course the first thing that comes to my mind when I'm down in Seaside was "Pronto Pup." It been years since I last had a pronto pup and watching the way it is prepared before your eyes put's excitement and thrilled watching the way its dunked in a thick cornmeal batter and placed in this contraption that looks like a windmill that slowly moves the pronto pup into the frying oil. End result...still taste great like it did 7 years ago! I do recommend anyone stopping by Seaside to get one and try... it's to like the corn dogs you get at a carnival. $3 each and cash only. read more

I'm only giving one star because I have to. The woman that works there with short hair, older, glasses is the worst human being I have ever come across. I have been going to Seaside with my family for 30 years. We ALWAYS go get pronto pups and ride the bumper cars. I went up to ask her a simple question (my son turned 6 the next day and they would't let him play put put gold even though we did the summer before) and I don't know if they are just allowed to act however they would like, or if she is the owner/manager and just doesn't care but she was the rudest person I've ever met. She INSTANTLY started swerving her head around at me basically yelling at me because I asked a question. I was in such shock I turned to my father who was standing behind me and said "Do you hear how she is speaking to me??" I will NEVER spend another dime there she was the most miserable person in the world all the while my son is balling because he wanted to play some put put gold at 7 pm when no one was there. Located near the end of a strip mall on Broadway on the Southeast side of the river, this tiny cafe and bakery serves up love and smiles. We were traveling with our two adult children who are on the autism spectrum. Our oldest is gluten free and our youngest, well he identifies as a bull moose and can be about as easy to wrangle. There were plenty of gluten free options for our oldest. Our server Zoe rocking the Wonder Woman tank was a super hero! The owner quickly tuned in to our family being on team quirky and made us feel welcome and at home. Everyone was so friendly! The food? Exceptional! This was our third breakfast out on our trip and the Chalkboard Cafe took the blue ribbon and it was not even close! My youngest had the biscuits and gravy, with a couple of eggs and a sausage patty. He's a charter member of the clean plate club and met the challenge. It was a generous portion. Our oldest had a half order of the B&G and was tempted to have one of the hot from the oven gluten free mini Marion berry pies that the owner proudly paraded around the dining room. Steaming from the oven this Marion berry pie tasted like the best of an Oregon summer. I was glad he shared a couple of bites. It was such a delight that we took a pie home for later! My wife and I shared the traditional eggs Benedict. The eggs were perfectly poached, and topped with a thick piece of ham grounded with their perfect English muffin. The Hollandaise was rich and creamy providing a wonderful coat on top of the egg. Their red potatoes were seasoned just right and were a compliment to the eggs Benedict as they would compliment most any savory breakfast. In addition to the pie we took home a couple their chocolate krinkle cookies which were not gluten free. That's the bad news. The good news is that we did not have to share them! They were heavenly! We get to Seaside at least once or twice a year and the Chalkboard Cafe will be part of our regular dining rotation while visiting. Thanks for the love and excellence! Great job and we are looking forward to our next visit!

But I didn't care too much for the flavor. Genuinely not good. And the cream cheese it came with, zero flavor, which was easily remedied by adding my own salt.
