They confirmed it was, so today I went in and got it. First star to Courtney: she remembered I had called and was ready to go with the upgrade. How cool is it to be remembered? Second star: she let me know that by changing my payment method I can save $10 a month. Which totally covered the cost of the upgrade. Star 3: After working the transaction she made sure my number had transferred *and* the phone was upgraded to the latest software *and* that moving my data over would work. Star 4, 5, and - if there was the option - 6: I screwed up big time and she fixed it. The phone I had researched so carefully and asked for explicitly was actually the wrong one. I went back in knowing that changing this out would be a bear. She took the challenge and dove into it. It took a few calls to her peers to get it all sorted (I really appreciated hearing, "I just want to make sure this is right.") but in not much time she got it sorted. Wow!

Save yourself $100+ and go to Verizon on Lamar. I didn't realize it wasn't a regular store, so when I was helped by Josh today (who provided great customer service but could have been even more transparent), I asked about each fee that was explained and if it was mandatory. Then I contacted the Verizon on Lamar (a "regular Verizon") and they confirmed that some of the fees that were mandatory here, are actually not mandatory fro Verizon, such as the $40 set-up fee (which was basically him turning the phone on) and the $60 mandatory 3-month insurance you have to cancel yourself or you'll continue to be charged $20 a month extra. Also, Josh said the $35 charger was included but I see it as a separate charge on my bill that was not removed. He did not go over the bill with me once sent. I had been concerned about inventory, needing a phone same day, and both the Airport and Lamar locations had an basic iphone 16 available. If I had opted to go to Lamar, my bill would have been at least $100 cheaper though. Josh contacted his manager and they contacted one more person up who claimed a refund of the $40 (I didn't know about the $60 fee at the time not being normal) was not possible without a full refund of the phone that I had already set up. Russell Cellular: requesting a refund of the $35 charger, $40 setup fee, and $60 insurance, $135 requested. I can update my honest review across platforms if you make it right, and also tell customers that you have "may have fees" other regular stores don't have- it's something I wish I had known.

Buying a cell phone is about as much fun as a root canal, but Lupe (her "official name" is Tejada) goes out of her way to help out the customer. I was there to buy an iPhone on a promotion, and had all my info ready. However, there was a "glitch" in porting the number and Lupe did some creative "persuasion" to get them to push it through. While I waited to get the number transferred, another customer came in, but did not bring his required account number, pin number, etc. Lupe did an amazing job of getting this info from his previous carrier (again, using some "creative" skills!) and helped him get the promo code for a better deal than he originally came in the store to get (actually, the deal I was getting). Not many store personnel would be so thoughtful as to give the customer a better deal. To be honest, the decor and "waiting room" stools left much to be desired, but when I mentioned the hard metal stools, Lupe went into the office to get me a nice padded folding chair. THAT is my idea of real customer service!!!
