Yeah, unfortunately, a nice night out didn't end well. The food was ok. I enjoyed my drink. I was there with a large group of ten. We had just finished a long day working at the resort down the street. We were celebrating. Around 8:15, the waitress comes over and with extreme rudeness says "we've been closed for 15 minutes now!" There aren't enough good things to say about this place! The selection of drafts is always broad, the cleanliness is superb, the staff is attentive and knowledgeable about drinks. This place is great, HOWEVER, it used to be very dog friendly, and while they still advertise that they are "dog friendly" that is no longer the case. They have a very large outdoor patio and use the "health code violation" to create an arbitrary line to corner off dog owners, leaving only a handful of tables and picnic tables that are basically on the street. In addition, the patio is well heated but the "dog area" is cold, overlooked by the waiting staff so constantly full of dirty dishes and hard to find an open spot. They should allow the entire outdoor patio area to be pet friendly, or a much more reasonable heated section for dog owners, until that time, I will limit my time at this restaurant and maintain my 2 star rating. The food and beer are very good, just unfortunate policy change regarding pets. read more

My family and I came here for the first time on Mother's Day for a wonderful lunch. Service was friendly, food was tasty, vibes were high. Loved the ample outdoor seating. We tried a ton of items. From the tomato bisque to the Dana Wharf tuna sandwich, the Strand fried chicken sandwich, the Hobie chicken bowl, and the tots plus beers and an iced latte. Everyone enjoyed everything we got. My husband and I had such a good experience that we came the following weekend (today) to try the breakfast items. My OC zest brioche French toast was on point, and his Henry breakfast plate was filling and yummy. We are now planning on coming back to take his dad when he visits us in our new neighborhood. She accidentally left her purse on her chair, and when we came back to retrieve it from the staff, everything inside had been moved around and $600 was stolen. The manager, Kortney, basically said there was nothing they could do and claimed nothing showed up on the security cameras. She also refused to show me the footage directly, so we filed a police report. Very unfortunate experience. My family and I have been coming here for years, but after this, I will never return. Let me clarify this: the person who returned the purse to the staff is my neighbor and was sitting next to us the entire time. After we left, she claimed no one touched the purse and that she gave it directly to the staff. Unfortunately, the tips my girlfriend worked hard for as a server down the street were still stolen, and now Kortney is accusing me of 'misrepresenting' the business. Food experience : We ordered two different burgers (Downey and Salt Creek) and the hummus. Both burgers were absolutely delicious! The brioche bun and meat literally melts as you bite into it. I woke up this morning thinking about the Doheny burger with caramelized onions (don't judge me) ! The hummus was very flavorful. I appreciated the fact that they didn't just slap it on a plate. The wait was awful. Couldn't understand why I had to wait 30 + minutes to order my beer and food! Once my meal was served ....I found out why there was such a long wait. The grilled brisket cheese sandwich was an explosion of perfect buttery sourdough cooked to perfection. I sampled every entree on the table (8 total) and every bite knocked my socks off. One thing I've really come to appreciate about Project Sewsh is that they are always improving. We've lived really close for the past 5 years, and it's always been great. But it seems like every year they're tweaking and changing the dishes in a positive way. The hummus is a personal favorite but everything is good. The service for this type of establishment is 2,000/10. The culture they've built is actually impressive. Truly a gem, and a genuine "Third Place". OK NOW THE DRAMA My wife, her sister, and our daughter go for lunch and sit outside. Toward the end of their meal, we're talking like 2pm, a couple with a dog come in and make it apparent that they want the table my wife is sitting at. The other tables in this (what they later came to learn is a "dog section") are open, and the dog friendly outside bar area has plenty of seating. They still have food on the table, drinks, just chilling. This couple just stands there. Giving dirty looks to my wife's table. They talk to a younger, lower level (of course) employee, and that employee asks my wife if it would be alright if they moved because this was a dog table. I CAN NOT BELIEVE the entitlement. It's incredible. To think that you can show up at a restaurant, and have a specific table available to you as soon as you get there is actually nuts. But then to act on that notion in a rude manor? It is nauseatingly ridiculous. Actually sick. What would you have done if there was someone at that table with a dog? Why not wait it out at literally any other available dog friendly table? Why? Why be rude at all? I don't know, I'm hoping they see this and have some sort of epiphany. Or the staff sees this and gives them dirty looks when they go back. This is a really interesting restaurant and bar with inside/outside seating. The food was good, priced reasonably and the servers were prompt and courteous. The parking was plentiful and painless. It's in an area of Dana Point that does not have a lot of traffic congestion. We had a reservation for a large group of 18 and they were able to accommodate us without any problem. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and bar if you are looking for a good place to eat and socialize in Dana Point. read more

Project social has been sold and changed owners and now it's not the same friendly place as it used to be the food is definitely gone down. Parking is become a real problem in that center. Sometimes you have to park on the street along way away. A lot of people camped out on the bar with laptops doing remote work so you can't get a seat . Too bad it used to be a great place. read more
