Kids Juice Flight w/ Gold Fish, $7

I like the open-&-airy feel inside offering a variety of seating options inside, as well as a few seats & small tables outside, in front; in addition, there are a few picnic tables to accommodate larger groups and a couple of cornhole boards in a gated side section. On this first visit, I immediately felt at ease after being cheerfully greeted and offered assistance, if needed. I'm not much of a knowledge when it comes to drinking beer but I'm ALWAYS game to try and experience craft beers (especially when among my beer-drinking family) -- and I LOVE to taste! There were interesting options among the different beer styles. How fun and thoughtful to even include a Kids Juice Flight with Gold Fish ($7)! I enjoyed reading the story about this Dana Point native returning to his community -- which makes me want to support him even more!

Absolutely one of my favorite spots in Dana Points. Ale house has a great selection and wonderful atmosphere. Christian and Eric are so welcoming and beautiful patio to enjoy the sun. Dog friendly and they always participate in city events. Our local hangout :)

This is our new spot to stop at, every visit we make to Dana Point now! Service was friendly and very helpful. The ambience is clean with a beautiful scenery, they have a rotation of beers weekly and board games to play. Me and my husband had an amazing time, thank you again!

My friend and I decided to stop in and have a beer because she told me that this is her favorite brewery. The brewery is light and airy with large windows and doors and it has a large patio on the side of the building as well as a smaller one in front of the building. The beer choices are quite extensive and we were lucky to have the business owner, Christian, to help us make good choices based on what we like in beer. I had a Hazy IPA and brought home a stout for my honey. The food choices are limited but there are options to get food delivered to the brewery if you choose to do so. Christian opened the brewery in 2022 and I have to say that I have really missed the boat by not having discovered this place sooner. They are dog friendly and kid friendly. They even have dog treats for your pup and a juice flight with goldfish crackers for the kids. The beer choices are amazing and I can't wait to go back and try some more. Do yourself a favor and try this brewery out...you won't be disappointed.

Today, on a Saturday at 12-ish, as a family of 4 we were able to get seated right away. Our server was attentive and offered/brought waters right away. We were seated inside which was open and spacious but loud enough to make it family friendly. The tables were far enough a part that you did not feel like you were on top of each other. Next time, we might ask to sit outside so our young boys can watch the cars drive by. We learned that the kitchen is nut free (always double check as this could change), which was amazing since our son has a severe nut allergy. He was so excited to learn this as he can be limited at other places due to cross contamination or the wrong oils. Then when the food came out and it was delicious - it sealed the deal. It is now in the top of our list of places to go. The kids cheeseburger is good size and not a smaller version as some places do. The chicken tenders were panko crusted which was so crunchy. My husband and I shared the smoked carrot and chicken tacos and we enjoyed them both. The beer was also very good with my husband and I each trying a different kind - an IPA and a Pale Ale. We are so glad we finally stopped in and so should you!

Which is why it's getting 3 stars from me. The food is fine. It didn't make me sick, and I could eat it. That's about all I can say. The service did what it was supposed to but neither warm nor necessarily speedy. If I were a local, this would be a safe place to bring friends. I don't think it's worth the time to go out of my way to come here.

Unfortunately, somewhere along the way, the vibe toward families with kids seems to have shifted pretty dramatically. Enter: the three-strike rule. Your kids get three strikes and Project Social kicks you out. Listen, I have kids. I am under no illusion that they are tiny, perfectly behaved restaurant patrons, but we go out *all of the time* and never anywhere else have we encountered feeling Iike this. But the policy--and more importantly, the way it's enforced--feels incredibly punitive and unwelcoming. On our most recent visit, kids getting out of their chairs earned a strike. Kids sitting at the table but apparently playing too much with their drinks earned another. As we found ourselves teetering dangerously close to strike three, we decided to preserve the last shred of our parental dignity and see ourselves out before we could officially be voted off the island. What makes it especially frustrating is that this isn't a situation where families are occupying a table without supporting the business. Between our group, we'd already spent hundreds of dollars on food, cocktails, wine, and drinks--only to spend the visit feeling like we were being monitored for our children's next infraction. The irony? The adults at the table next to us--the exact craft-beer-drinking, kid-free-at-the-moment clientele you'd assume this policy is designed to protect--stopped us on our way out to tell us how cute the kids were, how much they missed having littles that age, and how much they'd enjoyed watching them together. Of course, Project Social is entitled to decide what kind of environment it wants to create. But in a community filled with families, the message this policy sends feels pretty unmistakable: kids are tolerated here only if they're essentially silently glued to their chairs. That's their prerogative. It's also ours to spend our money somewhere our families actually feel welcome. It's disappointing because we've enjoyed this place for years and genuinely wanted to continue supporting it. If you're heading here without kids, you may have a completely different experience. If you're bringing children, though, I'd think twice--or at minimum make sure they've reviewed the employee handbook before arrival.

One of the things I appreciate most is that the happy hour actually feels like a good deal. Happy hour runs all day on Mondays and Tuesday through Friday from 2pm-6pm, with $10 cocktails, $6 beer and wine, and a few food specials that are worth ordering. We went with the chicken nachos ($10) and the taco special ($10 for two tacos, with mix-and-match options like birria, carnitas, chicken, and sweet potato). Both were surprisingly generous portions for happy hour items. The nachos came loaded with toppings and could easily be shared, while the tacos felt substantial rather than the smaller portions some places serve on their happy hour menu. The space itself fits right in with the River Street vibe. It's casual, lively, and makes for an easy place to hang out with friends after work or spend a relaxed afternoon grabbing a few bites and drinks. The entire marketplace has become a fun destination, and Capo Leisure House is one of the spots helping make it worth the visit. If you're exploring River Street Marketplace for the first time, I'd definitely recommend stopping by during happy hour. I've had their Smoked Birria Brisket Tacos before and they were delicious; however, I am head over heels for their Blue Corn Beer-Battered Fish Tacos. The flavor of these tacos were up my alley and just the perfect thing to eat al fresco under the sunny sky and gentle breeze. It's so... California. Smoky, fresh, crunchy, a little citrusy, and just absolutely delicious! One of my favorite fish tacos I've ever had. We also ordered the chips and salsa but the chips were a little hard and stale. I prefer thinner chips. The service from the young lady was just mid. I came during early dinner hours and would have loved if her personality was more upbeat - at least a smile would do - it would add to the whole experience. Overall, Capo is worth checking out. The food took some time to prepare but it was worth the wait. They served delicious food. And we enjoyed eating it in the patio. I'd definitely come back and order the fish tacos again!
