The poke is amazing! The service is always great as well! This is my go to poke restaurant!

Apparently Project Poke has been around for almost a decade, yet I've never actually eaten here before, since whenever I'm in this plaza, I gravitate to one of the many Kei Concepts spots here, Starbucks, or occasionally, Brodard. I took a chance to check this spot out today since I had a craving for poke, but didn't want to make the trip to my usual spots. They have Poke bowls, poke burritos, and sides. I opted for a Large Poke Bowl with all salmon as my choice of protein. Ponzu sauce and spicy mayo garnish. There wasn't many other fish options available, but salmon is usually my go-to for poke anyway. Toppings were far and few - masago is extra $2 here. I opted for corn, seaweed salad, crabmeat and pineapple. The pineapple was canned and didn't taste too great. There wasn't any of your traditional poke spot drinks available like green tea or even soda. Their only refrigerated drink option was sparkling hawaiian soda, so of course, I opted for that. Portion size was actually great for the large - the scoops of fish were plentiful. The salmon themselves though, had a faint fishy smell to it. It probably could've been fresher. The rice could've been more moist/softer - mine was sorta dry. Total was a little over $30 including tip. The gal that assisted me was friendly and patient - no issues with service here. There's not a lot of seating - there's a bar style dining area inside, and a table/chair outside - but be mindful of all the older guys here smoking right outside. There are also no public restrooms. Shared parking lot with the rest of this otherwise busy shopping center across from Mile Square Park. Honestly, I don't see myself going out of the way to come back here. read more

Walked over from Square Mile park as I was looking for some Poke. Usually I dont give places with a score of less than 4 on yelp a try, but I went against my better judgements and came by. I was surely disappointed. Upon walking up to the place, it looked close. Couldn't tell if the lights were on. There's no one inside (during the lunch rush). No movement at all. I initially thought they were closed. When I pulled on the door handles I was surprised they were actually open. The inside is extremely small and dimly lit. They only have about 5 protein options (not counting the same protein but in a spicy sauce). Small container bins of fish, like they dont sell that much. Typical base and toppings and sauces used here. Multiple things scratched off their menu. This place is extremely small. There's only about 3 or 4 high hi top chairs against the 1 wall. And nothing else. I ordered a large, which is 5 scoops of protein. I got 2 tuna, salmon, scallop and shrimp. Imagine to my surprise that it cost over 20 bucks!! Im a firm believer that there's 2 main ways a business can be successful. Either provide a service at an affordable price and you know your getting what you paid for. Or offer exceptional service and or premium experience/food at a premium price. But you cant offer mediocre experience with so so food and charge a premium price. Which is what this place does. With so many Poke places in the OC I dont think I'll be back here. And even if I wanted too in the future, I have a feeling that in a short period of time this place will no longer be open anyways.... read more

I remember when this place first opened, the hype was real. There were lines out the door, the fish was fresh, and they were constantly restocking to keep up with the demand. Now? Not so much. The fish looks a little... sad, probably because it's been chilling there for hours with no one ordering. It's still decent, but $16 for a regular poke bowl with three tiny scoops of fish? And don't get me started on the $2 extra for tamago when the place down the street just throws it in for free. At this point, I'm wondering if I'm paying for the memories of those glorious early days instead of actual fresh fish. Honestly, Project Poke needs to reduce the prices a bit. If they had more customers, they'd push the product, and the fish wouldn't look like it's been marinating in existential dread. It's a classic case of "you need customers to get customers," but the owner hasn't quite cracked that code yet. Come on, Project Poke, make poke great again! If you build it, they will come. Nice poke place in a busy plaza. Ordered a "S&T and burrito" ( salmon and tuna), the fish is pretty fresh, portions are decent too, feeling full after eating it. I like how they put wonton crisp into it so it's crunchy. After tax is around $18 for the burrito. But the rice in that burrito is a little bit cold/ hard. Other than that, everything works. Service is friendly. Inside have a counter table and maybe 3 seats to sit. More like a quick eat place! read more

I had gone to this poke spot twice. The first time, I couldn't remember how the experience was so I decided to go again. The location is very small, with only 3-4 seats for people to eat. The lady taking our order was really nice. She helped us through making the bowl and gave us a good portion of everything. The fish tasted fine. I wish they had more protein options. Everything seemed to be very limited at this location. They had the basic bases, maybe 5 proteins, and a couple of toppings. Understandably, poke bowls are enjoyed without having so many toppings, but the fish we were given needed the extra help. Also I would not recommend the drinks. They were out of their mango drink so we got their guava and thai tea. Both were very watered down and not very good. I don't live that far, but when I got home and tried it, it just tasted like it was left out for hours. I was hoping their drinks would be good, considering they are located right next to Starbucks and ShareTea. I will say that they support their artistic employees. They have some flyers describing their employees and their art. It's nice to see that they are supporting them, but I do not think I would come again. read more

Tried to order over the phone @7:45pm and closing time is 9pm. No one was picking up so when we got there by 8:34, the female cashier says that their phone has been out of service for a long time and that their kitchen is closed for fried orders depending on the cooks mood... The cook was nice enough to let us order crispy spam burritos but brings out crispy spam musubis. The cashier says it's because they're out of rice. What kind of business is this??? Fist time trying out this place ! It's hot and wanted something fresh . I ordered online a regular salmon bowl, easy quick pick up ! Lady at the counter was nice The reason of a 4 is because from all 3 sauces chosen my bowl seemed dried ! It was missing extra sauce, Maybe I should have asked for extra sauces but again 1st timer Other than that the bowl was very fresh and well packed ! We came for the poke burrito that we saw on a foodie's IG page. The moment we walked in I saw the quality of fish (the color looked a little dull) and this caused me to already lose interest but since we were already there and drove specifically to Fountain Valley for their poke we went ahead and continued ordering. The service was friendly and quick they took our order and gave us a large portion of each ingredient. We took the poke bowl and poke burrito to the park across the street to eat. We both couldn't finish our food. It was difficult for me to enjoy, flavors were really lacking. For about $35 total I expected it to be better. read more

I've been here several times and I've always ordered a Poké bowl. The bowls are pretty average pokey bowls. This last time, though I had the pokey burrito and it was so good!! The warm rice, and the crunch of the seaweed wrap around the fresh fish were so satisfying. I might just go back today and have another. read more

This place actually used to be so good my favorite poke place but after trying it again recently the fish was... disappointing. It smelled and tasted like old fish for sure and it didn't help that I had to blow up the toilet after that meal. I've been ordering takeout from this place for awhile and, I've already (probably) posted the review before but I think this joint is pretty good! I've been regularly ordering from Project Poke whenever I get a craving and their poke bowls are nothing short of good! Though I can't necessarily say the spicy tuna/salmon has been a favorite topping of mine throughout the orders. It's nothing particularly wrong but during my first try, I didn't expect it to be just... spicy canned tuna/salmon, I thought it was the same as the sashimi tuna/salmon they already had but I guess that was a mistake on my part for assuming. I go to Project Poke for their satisfactory portions and nice variety of toppings. Of course it's not authentic poke, but I like it better than most places. It's in a convenient location with relatively quick service. A regular bowl with three scoops is just under $16 now, but the portion is definitely enough to make you full. The burning mayo sauce that they have is really good. Project Poke seems to offer more toppings than most places. I wish they didn't charge for tamago or masago, but there's plenty more to choose from. I get corn, edamame, seaweed salad, crab meat, and dry toppings like crispy onion and wontons. I was previously coming back from the dentistry and I had seen this place a couple times but never had the courage to come visit it. I had seen my brother eat poke before but I had personally never tried it before. So, eventually, I just ordered some take out and when I was finished with my dentistry appointment, I made my way on over. The space was pretty quiet, and nothing too bad. I thought I'd have to wait a little longer for my order but turns out they finished 2-3 minutes earlier than what I was told on my order status (yay!). I came in and asked about my order and the person working at the front was kind enough to hand it to me and wish me off on a good day. I went home and eventually had to fight open the lid a little but it was more preferable than having it be attached loosely/lazily. I opened my poke bowl, mixed it up in the assumption that that was supposed to be what I do and took a bite. I was practically folding from how good it tasted, I think it was quite possibly the best first experience I could've ever had eating poke, and now a couple days after I'm still craving for the same order. I wasn't sure if it was missing a couple things in my order but, my list of items were pretty long and it didn't bother me all that much. Project Poke truly is a hit or miss. Home to a convenient location, Project Poke draws a good amount of locals and even those who are visiting the area. Their portions are generous & satisfying, yet at times, the poke toppings are not fresh. Sometimes, the onions, ginger, and edamame are incredibly watery and dull in color. The fish pieces here are thickly sliced, so it is possibly for customers to taste an overly fishy flavor which can sometimes be unwanted. I came here yesterday to see if quality went down and it definitely did with the fish. I got a regular bowl with 2 salmons and 1 spicy tuna. Everything else was good as usual except for the fish where it didn't taste fresh at all sadly. The staff was really nice about everything I wanted on my bowl. I also got a mango lemonade that was SUPER sour even after I added ice to it because they ran out of ice. Unless something changes I probably will not be returning. read more

This is my top place to get poke! Even after trying numerous other poke places in OC, Project Poke is still my favorite. There's a few reasons why: good location in a well-kept plaza with plenty of parking, friendly staff, and large variety of sauce and toppings. The freshness and quality of the toppings can fluctuate, but for the most part, everything tastes great. Wait/Interior: The wait can vary depending on the time you go. Lunch can get pretty busy, leading to a substantial 15-20 minute wait to get your bowl. There's usually only 2 employees at a time, so if they get large orders, you'll be waiting. However, most of the time, I've been able to get my order in quickly. There is an option to order online but I prefer to see my bowl being made when it comes to poke. The inside is small, but there's a little bit of bar style seating as well as a few tables outdoors. This is one of those places where you'll be in and out quickly due to the limited indoor seating. Service: Here you'll find younger employees who try their best and have always been friendly. When it gets busy, they can get a little overwhelmed. Coming at 11 am when it opens is usually what I do to avoid wait times. Poke: My go-to order is a size large poke bowl to split with my boyfriend. The large size is plenty for two people. It's currently $17.89 for 5 scoops of protein. My order consists of salmon, 1/2 sushi rice, 1/2 mixed mixed greens, rice seasoning, original sauce with burning mayo on the side, tamago, edamame, seaweed salad, corn, imitation crab, fried wonton, fried onions, and chili powder. I'm not a fan of how masago is an extra charge when before it was included and other places include it. Overall: While the quality of the toppings isn't always the best and the wait can get a little long sometimes, these events rarely happen in my experience. First time eating a poke bowl. Really enjoyed it! Ordered the brown rice, cooked fish (salmon and scallops), spicy mayo, and all the toppings. Not a huge fan of the corn or the pineapple (both of which clearly come from a can), but the other toppings tasted fresh and delicious, especially the edamame and the freshly sliced jalapeños.
