Looks dead in there
Benedict A.

Walked over from Square Mile park as I was looking for some Poke. Usually I dont give places with a score of less than 4 on yelp a try, but I went against my better judgements and came by. I was surely disappointed. Upon walking up to the place, it looked close. Couldn't tell if the lights were on. There's no one inside (during the lunch rush). No movement at all. I initially thought they were closed. When I pulled on the door handles I was surprised they were actually open. The inside is extremely small and dimly lit. They only have about 5 protein options (not counting the same protein but in a spicy sauce). Small container bins of fish, like they dont sell that much. Typical base and toppings and sauces used here. Multiple things scratched off their menu. This place is extremely small. There's only about 3 or 4 high hi top chairs against the 1 wall. And nothing else. I ordered a large, which is 5 scoops of protein. I got 2 tuna, salmon, scallop and shrimp. Imagine to my surprise that it cost over 20 bucks!! Im a firm believer that there's 2 main ways a business can be successful. Either provide a service at an affordable price and you know your getting what you paid for. Or offer exceptional service and or premium experience/food at a premium price. But you cant offer mediocre experience with so so food and charge a premium price. Which is what this place does. With so many Poke places in the OC I dont think I'll be back here. And even if I wanted too in the future, I have a feeling that in a short period of time this place will no longer be open anyways....

S&T Burrito (Salmon & Tuna)

Nice poke place in a busy plaza. Ordered a "S&T and burrito" ( salmon and tuna), the fish is pretty fresh, portions are decent too, feeling full after eating it. I like how they put wonton crisp into it so it's crunchy. After tax is around $18 for the burrito. But the rice in that burrito is a little bit cold/ hard. Other than that, everything works. Service is friendly. Inside have a counter table and maybe 3 seats to sit. More like a quick eat place!

Wanted a quick bite to eat before a work out. Sushi burrito sounded like it would hit the spot. The star was the spam fries, so delicious!! Highly recommend heading here and trying it out.

Fist time trying out this place ! It's hot and wanted something fresh . I ordered online a regular salmon bowl, easy quick pick up ! Lady at the counter was nice The reason of a 4 is because from all 3 sauces chosen my bowl seemed dried ! It was missing extra sauce, Maybe I should have asked for extra sauces but again 1st timer Other than that the bowl was very fresh and well packed ! The price is a little high but it's definitely worth it Just wish I had more sauce on my bowl

Poke bowl and poke burrito.

We came for the poke burrito that we saw on a foodie's IG page. The moment we walked in I saw the quality of fish (the color looked a little dull) and this caused me to already lose interest but since we were already there and drove specifically to Fountain Valley for their poke we went ahead and continued ordering. The service was friendly and quick they took our order and gave us a large portion of each ingredient. We took the poke bowl and poke burrito to the park across the street to eat. We both couldn't finish our food. It was difficult for me to enjoy, flavors were really lacking. For about $35 total I expected it to be better.

I've been here several times and I've always ordered a Poké bowl. The bowls are pretty average pokey bowls. This last time, though I had the pokey burrito and it was so good!! The warm rice, and the crunch of the seaweed wrap around the fresh fish were so satisfying. I might just go back today and have another.

Regular Poke Bowl

I go to Project Poke for their satisfactory portions and nice variety of toppings. Of course it's not authentic poke, but I like it better than most places. It's in a convenient location with relatively quick service. A regular bowl with three scoops is just under $16 now, but the portion is definitely enough to make you full. The burning mayo sauce that they have is really good. Project Poke seems to offer more toppings than most places. I wish they didn't charge for tamago or masago, but there's plenty more to choose from. I get corn, edamame, seaweed salad, crab meat, and dry toppings like crispy onion and wontons. Overall a really good spot for poke.

Regular size bowl $17.89 in June 2024. Masago extra. Eek.
Olivia M.

Small for a lot of money and they charge extra for Masago. No small bowl option. Customer service is friendly and parking is ok. Poke tiki is 10 times better and less expensive. Second time here, will not come back.

The presentation of both bowls was beautiful and very aesthetically pleasing, but unfortunately, we felt the quality of the fish was below average. We also shared three hand rolls: negi toro, shrimp tempura, and blue crab. I liked that they included cucumber and avocado in the rolls, but the seaweed was soggy and overly chewy. As for the Okhotsk Don, the scallop-to-fish ratio felt off. It came with only one scallop, while the rest of the bowl was mostly filled with random pieces of fish and topped with an overwhelming amount of roe. The service was good overall, but we left a bit confused by all the glowing reviews regarding the food.

Parking: Super easy lot parking right outside restaurant in a large shared plaza Service: Incredible - everyone greeted us when we came in, we were seated immediately, they were very on top of my water refills, plates were efficiently cleared after each course, they explained each course well, and there were no long gaps between courses. They even provided a candle on my mom's dessert for Mother's Day. I also appreciated them checking on our wasabi preferences in the beginning before our meal, as I usually forget until it's too late. Each detail made a big difference on our enjoyment of the meal. Really pleasantly surprised by how impressively smooth and well-run the service was. Food: Yellowtail carpaccio - ponzu sauce had some olive oil that went so well with the yellowtail Octopus cucumber appetizer - delicately sliced and was a refreshing bite with yuzu sauce Unagi chawanmushi - so well cooked with a depth of flavor incorporated into the perfect texture and unagi added another layer of flavor and texture that balanced it out Nigiri - grouper was tender, ocean trout had amazing flavor, amberjack more firm, striped jack also firm, seared halibut fin was my favorite with flavor and tenderness, and albacore with garlic oil was melt in mouth buttery Chirashi - made with the the same fish as the nigiri, the marinated ikura was especially delicious Dashi broth - great palate cleanser that was light but still seasoned well Housemade matcha ice cream with honey castella cake (so good) and a strawberry slice was a great way to end the meal. Overall, $58 for a high quality 7-course lunch omakase was filling and worth it. Really glad it was offered over the weekend as well, which was really convenient for a family meal without navigating work schedules. Definitely recommend a visit!

I went on a weekend for their lunch set tasting menu. Everything was executed well, though the dishes followed a very consistent flavor profile throughout the meal. While it was all very good and high quality, don't expect anything experimental or wild. You will probably want to order a few extra items a la carte to feel fully satisfied. At around $225-$300 for lunch for two, the price tag feels a bit steep for a midday meal, but you are definitely paying for quality ingredients and a tasting experience.

Another great place to get a quick sushi fix. Great atmosphere for date night, but I'd probably wouldn't recommend going in large party since it's only bar seating(some might sit far away from each other). Their customer service is always on point and your designated roll chef knows how to fill up your taste buds. Furikake Fries - Skinny fries tossed with umami flavored bits. We could not tell the difference between regular salmon and the salmon belly nigri they brought us. It looked and tasted exactly the same. Definitely not fatty salmon belly. 3. The yellow tail belly was chewy. 4. All the fish in their nigri sushi were thinly cut with very little rice. Definitely all you can eat amount of fish. 5.
