Progressive is a scam. They change your policy coverages without your permission, they threaten to cancel without a payment, you make the payment- and they cancel you anyway. They lure you in by being less expensive than other insurance to start. Also, if you've given them permission to pull your payment, they think it's ok to increase said payment without your permission and pull whatever amount they feel like. This is illegal! Never again. Our insurance broker recommended them due to price to get insurance on our very nice home that was just built. Progressive insisted on us sending in a slew of photos and then on top of this insisted they someone out to inspect our home, before confirming the policy. We did this and then a few months later they canceled our policy after approving it, because they said our house was in a wild fire risk area, even though we live in Western, WA in an area that is wet 10 months out of the year and there are no trees close to our house. The only wild fires there have been in the area are started by homeless people in Seattle and it is very rare a house gets damaged. This is very frustrating. Also, my daughter had a auto claim with Progressive and they provided terrible service, never returned calls or responded to emails. I was helping her with the claim and there were serious injuries involved. It was horrible. read more

I believe I have the right Progressive in Kent Washington. I am in Seattle and their client hit my vehicle. The claims process was very tedious and the agent couldn't be bothered to lift a finger. I had to start from the beginning on each phone call. If I left a voicemail or sent a text or email, they were ignored contrary to what the agent advertised as contact methods. The agent didn't care or didn't realize that I was in Seattle and tried to get me to use a repair shop in Kent. Not too far away as far as miles but trying to drive there In traffic is a journey. Also, the agent called the repair shop after I requested a shop in Seattle. She got voicemail or no answer so she said I would have to call back. What?! It's like the client has to do the work and the agent decides when to respond and how much work they want to do. Seems backwards to me. Needless to say I would never get Progressive nor would I recommend it. Maybe I should have used my insurance and gotten the repair done that way then had my insurance go after Progressive for the reimbursement. I just didn't want to have to pay my deductible when it wasn't my fault and worry about getting it back. read more

a person insured with them ran through two fence. We have cows in the field the person drove all over the field ie pasture. In doing this he hit one of my young bulls. I wish I had read reviews about Progressive before signing up with them. I have been a client of theirs for YEARS. The kind of thing where they thank me for being a customer for so long. I missed one payment. They cancelled my policy. A month after they cancelled I got into an accident and they wouldn't cover me. They had sent me e-mails to the e-mail they require you to have on file letting me know policy cancelled. But I am not an e-mail checker. Did I get a phone call? No phone call. "Why no phone call?", I asked, when I called: "The law doesn't require it." Does customer service require it? Apparently not. Do yourself a favor -- get an insurance company that actually cares about YOU and not the minimum the law requires. In my instance, they open-closed an "investigation" into a collision without considering photos or statements about the incident Finding me 100% at fault for an incident where the other driver, if he didn't intend to t-bone me, must have intended to park his car in the glass lobby of old Group Health. After forcing the car to salvage against my wishes and without even receiving my signed agreement, they pushed the DOL to issue a new title. Apparently, the most progressive of all insurances, so much so that they don't need to know your choices. They undervalued my vehicle significantly, coupled with overinflated repair estimates (replacing an engine for a sideswipe accident?????). They couldn't recommend a VW-certified mechanic and body shop. My guess is they wanted to harvest a nearly brand new, NOT-YET broken in 2017 VW gTI, Wulfsberg Edition, to profit from parts. read more

Please beware of this insurance company. I was recently rear ended and had a very bad experience with Progressive...I had auto and rental insurance...The claim process was absolutely horrible where I spent 5 days just trying to get a adjuster to look at my car for verification and repairs...which no adjuster showed up ..so I chose the shop of my choice and had the rear end bumper replaced...We found out that there was some eternal damage done to the exhaust so we once again drop the car off for repairs and was told that a adjuster will come by the shop for verification...no adjuster showed up by one of the claims rep stated the inspection video by the shop would work... after having the approval to get the work done the original adjuster said that she spoke with the cashier at the shop and the shop cashier mentioned to her that he doesn't think that the exhaust was damaged from the accident so the adjuster took his word... Remember my vehicle had already been repaired before going to that shop...So the cashier wouldn't have known how much damage was done before he can even make that assessment...So was got stuck with a $200 video inspection bill which was approved by the claims adjuster and a $1200 repair bill... Totally ridiculous,bad communication, not committed to their word ....Here another incident we had a major flood at our home we was leasing and call Progressive to file a claim for damages and once again NOTHING So just letting you folks know that FLO from the TV commercial has to be paid and the rest of the gang..... read more

Negative stars. Terrible service, terrible communication, and worse, they are bad faith actors. I was hit by a driver insured by Progressive. The other driver was 100% at fault. Progressive totaled out my car, and imo greatly undervalued it, and then they didn't inform me that it was accruing storage charges--which they then told me would be my responsibility. (I was HIT BY ANOTHER DRIVER and they expected ME to pay for storage, but they didn't bother telling me!) When I complained, they claimed to have called every day. That was a lie. They had not called every day. I called THEM daily after getting a threatening letter which arrived 10 days AFTER I'd told themn that I'd dropped it off at a repair shop. I did not get a call back despite leaving messages daily for 5 days. On a few of those days they left a message, but they never picked up when I called, and they didn't attempt to call me back when I left a message. There was simply no way for me to resolve the issue with them). If you are dealing with this company, do not assume you're having a regular conversation where all parties are trying do the right thing. Nope. They're only trying to make as much money as they can from YOU. If I'd assumed I was dealing with bad faith actors from the outset, I would have been much better prepared to deal with their shenanigans. Don't be like me. Don't trust this company, and watch your back if you're ever stuck having to work with one of their adjusters. Nightmare. read more

Progressive.. Well, insurance companies in general, are THEE most evil alongside things like Monsanto, in my opinion. This is a true story, not exaggerated because I'm mad, but how crooked they are. Since I was 18, I have been fully covered by them through three vehicles, an 05 Corolla S, a 350z of same year, and my 06 WRX. I was 26 at the time of my accident, 2013. I would also like to say, over the years since 2006 I've had 4 speeding tickets, none since 2010. I was backed into on post a few months prior to my accident, hit and run. First ever car damage of my life. Filed a claim, got the money, waiting to get it fixed when it happened. I was driving to Walmart at 2am when a drunk kid in a Honda ran his red, totaling my whole front. My wife was with me. I filed a suit against him, he fought me on it blaming me, despite him bring totally drunk. His company Geico fought me on it until the end, finally offering me 2k. Refused, arbitrated etc, ended up getting 6k finally a few months ago. Anyway, a few months after the accident I called to renew my policy with progressive. They said they are not allowing me, and to find a new company. I was to much of a costly liability. So after a decade of on time full coverage they dropped me like that, on an accident(s) neither my fault. The guy on the phone told me in a year I could renew, I laughed and said why would anyone ever come back? I now have safeco. Same coverage, cheaper. Sure they'll probably drop me also after the next accident I didn't cause, but insurance companies are the worst at being penny pinchers and screwing their customers when they actually need them. read more

Both times I've needed to call a representative from the road I didn't have my policy number and was feeling anxious. I didn't have to wait on the line for a representative either time. Service was sent out within 20 minutes with a smile to greet me. The first call was for a flat, the second leaving my keys in the trunk at the mall. Both times I was treated reassuringly and warmly. The representative on the phone was so rude and screaming and said I was cursing at her when I told her I did not like her tone. She threatened to disconnect the phone and when I asked for her managers name she transferred me and hung up the phone. I have never experienced such rude customer service. Those things constantly beeped in our cars....we live on a highway. I am a college student at University of Washington Seattle and have been driving for 3 years with a completely clean driving record. I had Triple A insurance but switched to Progressive for cheaper coverage. I paid the first 2 months with no problems but then Progressive became full out unreasonable. They gave me only 2 weeks notice to provide proof of garaging address or cancel my coverage. I commute from home so the only documents I have with both my address and name are my financial aid award letters and college academic transcripts. Progressive refused to accept them saying they were not adequate proof (because documentation from a world renowned university is so shady). I just let my insurance run down and paid the cancellation fee. Insurance agents at other agencies such as Geico and State Farm laughed at how bad Progressive customer service was when I told them. I highly advise everyone to just stick with State Farm. read more

I am so frustrated with my insurance experience here. I recently hit the age where I need to transition off of my parents insurance and decided, after some research on liability only insurance, to go with Progressive. I got everything set up and relayed my routing/account number to the sales rep and everything was set up. This was about a month ago. Fast forward to today, when I get a notification that my policy is being rescinded because of an issue with my routing number. I had no communication prior to this that something was wrong, and they did no reach out to try and rectify this issue. It literally could have been as simple as a missing "0" or a misplaced number, but I was never made aware of any problem and it wasn't until they cancelled that I got an email. I called to try and clarify what happened, and show them that I wasn't contacted about the issue (if I was I obviously would have gone in and changed it myself!!). The agent on the phone was apologetic, but in the end wouldn't reinstate the policy or do anything unless it was paid in full upfront ($840). I am honestly so incredibly disappointed in this company and their lack of communication. It really shows exactly how little they think of their customers. Definitely think twice about inquiring about insurance here, they will more than likely let you down. read more

Took them almost 3 months to tell me that they were giving me 4 chiropractic appointments! That's it!!! I am in constant pain everyday! I will be taking them to litigation and canceling my policy.
