With a group practicing yoga, workout stations available, inviting tables to enjoy meals, a track for walking our furry friends, and children joyfully playing baseball, the energy was infectious. Though we wished for a disc golf section, we made the most of our time playing frisbee instead. Overall, it was a truly inspiring park experience.

There was also a couple inside the children's pirates themed enclosure acting suspicious and most likely using drugs. The couple wouldn't leave although the other parent asked them to. I was left feeling uneasy when the parks and recreation worker refused to check the enclosure for left over drug paraphernalia. I wouldn't go back.

I guess I felt like the City of Downey could take care of it a bit better... like they have with other parks. Maybe repaint the activity building and all the other drab, sun-beaten blueness. Add a mural or art in public places? Xeriscaping along the walking path? The playground equipment is sectioned into two parts: 2-12 years of age and 5-12 years of age. The equipment itself was sturdy and seemed well-maintained. There is a youth baseball field. A basketball court. A walking path, but I didn't see much info about it (distance, etc.). Barbeque pits. Benches. Picnic tables. Even an activity building with a kitchen, a handball court, and I assume a restroom, although, I didn't see one. Some of these are available to reserve if you're a Downey resident. Simon R. commented that he "would not let my fam here alone after dark." True. That's one reason I knocked off a star. It would be nice if a portable pickleball net was kept here like other parks, but it seems priority is for tennis here (amounting to around 8 tennis courts total here). Needless to say, I like the maintenance at the park here. There were also gated courts for concrete soccer, which was interesting. Lots of gnats flying around the area, but could be due to local weather. The runner's track is clear of debris and exclusively for runners, as indicated by signs. Parking is limited in the designated area, prompting some visitors to park on shaded streets nearby. While there are no public restrooms, two porta-potties are available. Throughout the park, you'll find numerous workout machines, conveniently located, including those near the porta-potties. With multiple entrances, this park is easily accessible, and due to its proximity to a residential area, you might encounter a cat or two. It's worth noting that during my visit, I observed a homeless man sleeping inside the park. Despite this, the park is generally well-kept, although there is an issue with feces in certain areas. On a positive note, there's a Little Free Library near the parking lot, promoting the sharing of books provided by a nonprofit. Operating hours are from 7 AM to 8 PM, ensuring a peaceful environment. Personally, I find the park enjoyable, especially for exercise, though the experience may vary depending on the time and day of your visit. OH and there is a volleyball court sitting on top of sand.

The only downside I have to mention is that recreational football and soccer teams frequently visit for practice, which the park is not set up for. It's quite small and should not be utilized as a sport practice meet up. This is what deters me from visiting more frequently. Parking fills up, balls are flying every which way, and it can get quite noisy. Not my ideal setting for some relaxing cardio. I still recommend this park, as the city of Paramount takes great care and it is regularly maintained nice and clean.
