I received a call today that a ribbed glass and silver match striker brought in for repair of a…read morechip (grinding chip in base of the striker) resulted in an internal crack through the striker while the repair was being made. To be honest I was so stunned that I was asked to pay for half the repair cost (75.00) or abandon the piece that I could not properly respond to at the time. The person who called said she would use it as a paper weight! The request for me to pay for a repair that resulted in further damage to my piece is out of line. To say that if I don't pay I can not retrieve my piece was shocking. Standard policy for Glass repair shops: 1) Assess Financial Liability: If the glass art is ruined beyond repair, the studio or repairer is liable for the piece's current market value. This usually results in a payout via their liability insurance. 2) Transparent Communication: A reputable repairer should immediately inform you of the accident and detail their plan for compensation or secondary restoration. UPDATE Item was released to me without request for partial payment for the repair.

I received a strong personal reference to Theisen from a friend and engaged them to repair a…read moretabletop that had shattered. To be fair, this was not an easy job and one that some other glass companies had declined. On the other hand, it was not inexpensive either. We could have easily bought a new table for the price we paid for repair. What bothered me though was not the price. It was the communication and the surprising delays and ultimate failure to get the job done right. The job was completed but the table top was sized and glued in a way that was not reflective of the quality I expected. It wasn't flush with the table top. I immediately communicated this and was kindly told I could either get it redone or a refund. 18 months later I have gotten neither. I've come to expect a "can't get to it now, I'll get back to you in X days" response and then no follow-ups. I've waited a year and a half and nine emails that followed the initial job to write this review, and I will happily remove it if the issue is addressed. I don't think the company is malicious but I also think that their communication could be a lot better.

Gave a general description and measurements and he told me he needed all of the details of the project including exact measurements and type of glass to give me a timing estimate. Again I did not ask for a cost estimate. Just a rough understanding of how long it would be to get something cut. 1 week? 2? 2-3? Two other vendors gave me a timing estimate without asking for the exact details. This guy said send me an email with every detail, he'll review, then hung up on me. Super rude, super abrupt. Would never work with a company like this.
