We had an offer in on a 2600 sq./ft. house and realized after the home inspection there were issues with the ceilings on the first floor. While the issue was purely cosmetic, we decided it needed to be addressed prior to our moving in. When the house was built much of the tape on the ceiling was installed incorrectly. In many areas you could see the tape on the ceiling was not flat or covered with mud, and was separating from the sheetrock. This situation was not acceptable for a home we were about to move into. James recommended removing the acoustic material from all the ceilings and sanding them smooth before painting. The entire oversized 2-car garage needed taping and painting as well. While I'm not a contractor my profession has put me close to the construction industry. While in California I had contacts with contractors covering various residential trades. Once we relocated I had none, this was a problem for me as I have high standards when it comes to the quality of work being done in my home. This was where James and his crew came in. We had a short time to close escrow, to compound matters, we had been on the road in our RV for nearly a month, and were currently living with relatives as we shopped for a new home, we were ready to move ASAP. We were referred to James by the seller's real estate agent, this in itself did not instill our confidence in him since we figured the seller would do most anything to keep the sale moving forward. Our confidence was boosted when our real estate agent had good things to say about some of James' work he had seen in other homes on the market. With that we decided to give him the job. James would not be able to get to our project for at least two weeks, then it would take 1-1/2 weeks to complete. Considering the amount of work to be undertaken we thought the timeframe was rather ambitious. To get a better idea about where James was coming from I had a conversation with him about his background and experience. James is a local guy who grew up in Southwick MA, and now resides close by in Feeding Hills MA. He and his crew of three long-time employees cover a large geographical area for his clients (commercial, industrial and residential) taking care of painting, wallpaper, and sheetrock needs. Over the past 25 years James has seen pretty much everything from the best quality work to the worst quality work performed by others. In 2000 he decided to open his own business. Since then he has worked hard to maintain the high standards his clients expect. No sooner had we closed escrow and we got a call from James telling us that he had finished all the other jobs he and his guys had been working on and they were ready to jump on our project and hit it hard. We were still concerned about the timeframe but James seemed to be a man of his word so I put my faith in him doing what he said he would do. To complicate matters, they started the job on Monday the week before Christmas. To our surprise they finished the job five days later on the Saturday before Christmas. Upon final inspection all the tape joints were now well hidden, the ceilings were flat and smooth, and the cut-ins where the paint from the walls met the ceilings were as straight as could be. Not only were we very happy with the quality of the work we could not believe how clean his guys left the house when they were through. Now mind you, these guys sanded the ceilings in every room on the first floor of the house, if you have ever had this kind of work done you know just how much of a mess this can make with fine dust finding its way into every nook and cranny imaginable. I (Mr. High Standards and basically a P.I.T.A.) was blown away by how little dust could be found anywhere. Sure we had a little vacuuming and wiping down to do, but nothing like what we had expected. We really thought we were going to have hire a cleaning crew to spend the day at the house but that was imply not the case. Not only did James and his crew delivery everything he said they would, they started on time and finished far sooner than expected, all with no additional upcharges! We have a couple of things that need painting on the outside of the house and you can bet your last dollar come spring James is going to be one of the first people we call. I know this review sounds too good to be true but fact is fact and based on the service we received from James the least I could do let others know what a great experience we had with him and his top-notch crew. I don't write that many reviews but when I do they are for people and companies that I really believe in, James Typrowicz is one of those people.

Originally when we found Cory through Facebook he appeared to have perfect reviews, unfortunately…read morethis is not an accurate representation as he blocks unhappy customers to prevent negative reviews. Our experience when hiring Pinegrove Painting and it's owner Cory Williams was at first inviting and collaborative, this quickly changed when the work began after multiple delays. When Cory began things appeared to be going as planned, unfortunately, he hit a couple delays and then began to rush which is when things fell apart. Throughout the project he failed to use tape to create sharp lines, he did not prime the walls (more on this later), he did not appropriately prep the walls (to include even wiping them down), he did not sand anything evenly lightly to help adherence, and he did not use drop cloths or care around the house splattering paint all over as well as engaging in completely sloppy painting such as painting over hinges. In his rushing he also chose to cut a corner with the walls being painted white and used a sprayer which we had explicitly stated we did not want. This unfortunately led to a different texture and sheen compared to walls he rolled. Of course this proved irrelevant as he did not prime and the walls he rolled were done poorly and without primer leading to the paint peeling off within days all over. When painting in the stair way he actually rushed and did not remove the railing that we were painting and instead just painted around it on the wall leaving a sloppy mess that also ripped the paint when the railing was first used. When these were addressed he originally proceeded to intend to fix the issues, this was in part likely due to the hope to get business to repaint our deck and that we still had him under deposit to paint our cabinets. However, while he stated he would need to come and fix the issues by sanding he instead came back with an attitude and started rushing around again. The last straw for us was when he did not sand or prime the base of a custom table we had wanted painted the same as the cabinets, leading to the paint just peeling off immediately. He also did not bother putting news paper under the legs and instead just painted the legs to the floor. After we told him we were firing him and would put his stuff out for him to come and get he blamed us for being "unsatisfiable" and then blocked us on facebook to prevent us from writing a review. I must stress that this is not a high quality painter and will not act with care in your house and left our house damaged vs improved. A reputable local painter is quoting almost double the original work to repair, saying that realistically they need to strip the walls to fix his work. Of special note: In his rushing he damaged our two year old entrance door and sidelights by getting oil primer from the trim on it resulting in the need to paint it which obviously did not come out right. This was a $6000 door to install. He got paint on multiple pieces furniture including the top of a $25000 custom table and a $1600 custom butcher block. He painted our bathtub and multiple bathroom tiles due to not using tape/drop clothes. He got a ton of paint all over multiple baseboards which will need to be removed sanded and repainted or just replaced. He failed to use tape as requested on a wallpapered wall and put a line of ceiling paint at the top of the wall paper causing permanent damage to a $1000 wall covering. I can't stress this enough, this was a horrible experience which we are still in the process of repairing.
