Due to the recent wind storm and incorrect installation of the roof by the original contractor,…read morePrime Painting of Chicopee, our home was left vulnerable to the upcoming winter elements due to shingle issues. The latest damage occurred this past Friday/Saturday (02/03/23 - 02/04/23). I live near Dana Park and Eugene, owner of Pioneer Valley Handyman, happened to be visiting the afternoon of 02/07/2023 with his daughter. I was in my yard and asked for a minute of his time. He took a look at the roof and gave me a price and repair date of the following afternoon. He arrived on 02/08/2023 as promised, completed the work promptly and professionally, and I feel much better going forward. I highly recommend Eugene Quinlan as a general repairman. I wish all businesses operated like Pioneer Valley Handyman. SIncerely, Brian:)

Our experience with Eugene at Pioneer Valley Handyman was disappointing. We are stationed overseas…read moreand needed some work done for our tenant in our rental. After we agreed on a price, things changed once he arrived. He added work without gaining approval first. In fact, we had told him in writing that the tenant might ask for more work to be done, but we were not authorizing it. He did it anyway and charged us. He was also not transparent about disposal fees until he was already on site and there wasn't much we could do about it. Not only did he lack transparency, but his overall professionalism was lacking. We had to ask, multiple times for an invoice for our records. The invoice terms stated Net 30 but he began harassing us to pay the invoice via text and email within hours of sending the invoice.

I had a nice experience with Tyler. He was quick to return calls after I'd left a message asking…read morefor info, and got back to me promptly during the project when I messaged with questions or decisions. He was proactive about thinking ahead (advised me to get paint in advance, to match new clapboard he would paint after finishing the new roof), shared his knowledge (didn't just fix the problem but showed me the source: in my case, a rotted beam causing water to leak into the house), discussed various solutions (how the slope and location of the roofs on the main structure vs the bump-out prompted different considerations). He recommended a particular approach and materials (but was amenable to customer preferences) and discussed pros/cons (options for a rain diverter; shingles vs tar or whatever the other roofing surface was). He's licensed, insured and a hard worker who arrived on time, then worked steadily all through the day. I was equally impressed that he was respectful of my home (wiped his boots when entering the house; quickly shut the door on a cold winter day while we discussed the project; didn't want to sit down because he had been outside on the roof, sawing wood, waterproofing, laying shingles -- things like that). And I was pleased that he gave a very thorough estimate and came in on budget and finished on schedule. Previous to hiring him, I spoke with two people who Tyler did work for. Like me, they were very impressed and recommended him highly. They gave me lots of examples of what he did for them and why they respected and trusted him and appreciated his work. Both mentioned they'd called him back for additional projects -- a good sign.

His response time was very fast. Quality of this work was impeccable. He was very patient and…read moreunderstanding. I'm sure I will be doing business with him in the future. Great job.
