I first started coming to Dr. Progebin's office 3 years ago when my oral surgeon recommended I work with him while I was getting a dental implant. Dr. Progebin and his team helped me troubleshoot a number of issues throughout the process, and his painstaking attention to detail ensured my implant crown was perfect! My dental hygienist, Rachel, is thorough, professional, and a great conversationalist! I so look forward to every teeth cleaning! The front office staff is helpful and communicative. My son went to this dentist on a recommendation from his roommate. He had two appointments two days apart because of scheduling issues. He had a full set of X-rays, whatever that means, a cleaning and an examination. The total bill was $790.00. Needless to say, I had sticker shock. I called the office and was told that I would have to speak with Stephanie, the office manager. I left my name and number. After ten days, there was no call back so I called again. Within the hour, I had a call back from her. I explained the situation and the sticker shock. I also told her of my displeasure that my son was charged $45.00 for a post cleaning exam when he was charged over $200 for an exam two days prior. I was told this was standard procedure. Stephanie was all business and curt, clearly not that interested in providing friendly customer service. The bottom line? My son will not be returning to this practice. read more

I had a very good experience with Dr. Progebin. I have been to him twice; my brother referred me. He is very, very nice and thorough. The first time I saw him, he wasn't very busy and spent a lot of time with me and was very upfront and honest about what I needed and how much it would cost. The second time he was pretty busy so I didn't get the same attention I did the first time but he still did a good job. He is a prosthedontist, which means he specializes in repair work like crowns and stuff. I have to go in a few more times to get my crown finished. The only drawback is that he is REALLY expensive. I am not sure how much more expensive than your average dentist but my crown is costing me $2300 (I think). Wow!!! That's a lot. read more

THANK GOD. I finally found a dentist that I can trust. He's a prosthodontist, and I went to him to fix some chipping and wear on my front teeth, but I am going to go keep him as my regular guy going forward. Dr. Progedbin is AMAZING. He could have recommended I get $10,000 of work at his office (which I would have been willing to pay) or he could do what he did, which is recommen that I go to an orthodontist and get my real problem fixed. So he's an honest dealer, and won't try to talk you into something you don't need just for monetary gain. He really cares about his patients, and even corrected an error my previous dentist had made by sanding down a few of my teeth (at no charge). Plus in general, what an entirely pleasant experience it is to go to his office. Dr. Progebin is incredibly nice, friendly, and seriously entertaining. He makes you feel at ease, which is alot to say about a dentist (which most people, including me, normally fear and avoid like the plague). And his admin staff, Stephanie and Denise are so sweet and kind, they make me want to apply to work there. I'm going back for cleaning (which I need) and whitening (just because). I agree with the "THANK GOD" post I just moved to the DC area and am pretty meticulous on my oral health. Upon my cleaning and exam, I was not only treated with care, but sent home feeling pretty good about myself. I knew from then Dr. Progebin is not about the money, but actual healthcare. Dr. P. and staff, Darleen, Denise, front desk folk and especially Wanda are great. I have two beautiful front teeth, and two (so-far) indestructible lower back crowns from this group. Because my jaw clench is like Godzilla, the crowns had many problems, and when Dr. P. could, he waived fees. His temperament is kind and positive, just keep in mind he is also an artist. They have feelings too! You will pay a premium for his services, but know it is his peers who rank him so highly. They know his quality. I have declined some offered specialist referrals with no negative repercussions, and feel I can freely participate in my treatment choices. My niece is a hygienist and tells me horror stories. Dr Progebin is supposedly a specialist in crowns. I had three crowns done there, but when I went to my new dentist, he said that the crowns were ill fitted and that the teeth were rotting underneath. I will actually lose one of the teeth. This infuriates me since I paid at least three times what you would regularly pay. To be very direct, he is very patronizing, money hungry, and weird!!! read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Progebin's for about 20 years. I find him to be the most knowledgeable, most competent dental professional in Washington. He refuses to compromise treatment, and explains in detail your current dental health, and what possibilities exist to improve your smile or the function of your teeth. His staff is warm and friendly, and provides a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere for your dental treatment. Whether it's the caring hygienists or the well trained assistants or the professional staff at the front desk, I doubt you will find a better team. When it's time for your next cleaning and checkup, or if you suddenly experience a dental emergency, I would try Dr Progebin without question. read more

Dr. Progebin has been my regular dentist since 1996. I have always received excellent dental care from him, and will continue to see and recommend him as a general practitioner dentist, despite the fact he specializes in dental implants. I have heard stories of other dentists in the DC area that make their living off of advising patients of dental products and procedures they don't need. Dr. Progebin has never done this, which is why I continue to see him. I like having dental and medical advice I know I can trust. Dr. Progebin is more expensive than many dentists, and he does not participate in any insurance programs. His office will send in claims to insurance companies that reimburse for out-of-network visits. read more

Dr. Progebin is absolutely the best prosthodontist! He has given me a great teeth and beautiful smile. I had extremely difficult dental problems. Dr. Progebin designed a comprehensive restoration plan to treat my very complex dental needs and then successfully completed the work. The comprehensive restoration plan included oral surgeries, bone grafts, implants and crowns, plus correction of bite. The comprehensive treatment plan was implemented during last 2, 5 year in coordination with the top oral surgeon who performed oral surgeries and bone replacement grafts including use of dental stem cells to create new bone tissues in one place where severe bone loss occurred. Dr. Progebin encouraged me throughout the process and gave me confidence that the work would be worthwhile. It was long restoration process, but outcome is fantastic. I have now great teeth. They look and feel like my regular teeth. Dr. Progebin and his team performed excellent work. He is very professional, providing leadership and direction with a cutting edge practice. He is very detail oriented. A perfectionist with very friendly, warm supportive attitude. Everything is perfect in Dr. Progebin office. His dental technicians, hygienists, and front desk office staff are the best I have encountered, all very professional, supportive and cheerful. My first visit to Dr. Progebin's office for a consultation went fine. I had a little sticker-shock when I heard his per tooth veneer price as his price was a lot more than even the most expensive price I had seen in my research. I was also slightly bummed when I found out that I would have to do 4 veneers instead of 2 in order to make them look nice, but I had been assured that he was one of the best - so I was ready to go through with the "treatment". The first thing he said I needed to do was come back for another cleaning as he did not think the cleaning I had the month before was acceptable, so I made the cleaning appointment and was back in his office 3 weeks later. That is when things started to go downhill. The woman who did my cleaning was very nice and as gentle as possible, so that was good. However, when Dr. Progebin came in at the end of my cleaning, he made a comment that I didn't appreciate: "When you get serious . . ." - why would I have been there twice already if I wasn't serious?!? I assured him that I was serious and then asked about the "Treatment Letter" that I had been told would be ready for me by my next visit. My treatment letter was not ready, but he mentioned the lab mock up of the veneers that he could get for me, and I asked "How much extra does that cost?" He replied "I don't know, a couple hundred dollars", and then he ran off. In my opinion, he should have gone to get me the answer to my question, but he did not. I also had a couple other quick questions about the veneers that I wanted to ask him, but as I said - he disappeared at that point. There was then some confusion when I went to check out as the front desk was only interested in scheduling me for my next cleaning in 4 to 6 months, but once I inquired about scheduling the appt. for the next step in the process for the veneers, I was passed off to the correct scheduler. She went to talk to Dr. Progebin briefly to make sure it was OK to schedule me for the appointment to see the lab mock up, and when she came back she said "Of course there is no charge for the mock up." I then scheduled the appointment for 2 weeks later. I still didn't have my treatment letter, but was assured I would have it later that day. I didn't get it that day. At this point, I was already feeling a little uneasy as I just didn't have a great experience in his office that day, and I had already talked to 2 family members about it. I had already invested time and money with him though, so I just tried to let it go. The next day, I finally got the treatment letter via email, and saw that the lab mock up was now $500. I honestly didn't expect it to be free, but his scheduler had said the day before that there was no charge and Dr. Progebin had said "a couple hundred dollars" - so to me, $500 was quite the price increase from what I was told the day before. I immediately responded to the email and asked about the discrepancy. The response I got was from someone else in the office, and he just told me that the mock up that was free was the one that I had seen the day before that was created in their office and the lab mock up would be $500. At this point, I was even more confused because I hadn't seen a mock up the day before - I had been there for a cleaning. I responded to the email and said that I hadn't seen a mock up the day before, so I didn't know what he was referring to, and at that point, I also gave the feedback that I didn't have a great experience in the office the day before and thought the customer service was a bit lacking. I was about to spend a large sum of money there, so I did expect to have my questions answered and to receive accurate information. At this point, I was very leery about proceeding with Dr. Progebin - In my opinion, Dr. Progebin himself should have accepted my feedback, acknowledged the mistake and apologized (or at a minimum, had one of his staff members do it on his behalf). However, that did not happen. No one acknowledged the mistake at all. Instead, I received an email from Dr. Progebin's scheduler that said "I spoke with Dr. Progebin and he does not feel comfortable moving ahead with treatment. Please call [your regular dentist's] office for another referral." I couldn't believe that he was so unwilling to acknowledge what happened, but I immediately realized that his dismissal of my concerns indicated that he is not the type of provider I want to see anyway. I'm out some time and several hundred dollars, but I'm very glad that I didn't give him any more of my money. I may be someone who can spend what his "treatment" was going to cost, but that does not mean that I take spending 5-digit figures lightly - and for that kind of money I definitely expect great customer service and accurate, timely answers to my questions. read more

He seems very kind and helpful initially BUT: - he charges double for everything - the quality of his work does not match up with his price - his crowns aesthetically look awful unnatural especially the front teeth - if you ask to get it corrected, he becomes hostile and very mean and keep defending/praising his lab technician - he does not care for your well being- He tried to push for an ugly looking short crown (for which I paid $3000)-. Who would want a brand new crown showing black crescent at the neck already? But he insisted on it even though he knew that my gums recede and the problem gets worse in time. He also knew that this was the only problem with my older crowns. -I think they just lost the initial impressions and forgot about how my teeth looked like and tried to push for someone else's idea of natural looking teeth which did not match with my natural teeth. -Do not go to him: It is waste of time, waste of money and on top of it you will get bullied when things do not go the way he wants. read more

Worst ever If I could give zero stars I would. I made an appointment because he is supposed to be the best and I have complicated and life altering dental issues. He charged $550 for initial eval including many xrays even though I had a set that were only a few months old from my previous dentist. Of note he did not do any treatment for that money. During that eval he kept telling me that he is the best and all the people he refers to are the best. He promised that I would have a treatment plan with all the best in their fields in one week. I got nothing. After 3.5 weeks, I emailed him. I finally got recommendations to see two other specialists but no treatment plan for my $550. It took me a bit to see the other providers because I was in an overwork situation at work. One doctor to whom he referred me did not understand why Progebin had sent me to him. The other performed a root canal at double the highest rate for the area. I dared to send Progebin an email and explain what happened with the two specialists. When I called back to make an appointment for the crown to cover the root canal, I was told I had been put in the patient inactive list and I could not get an appointment. Please do not fall for the false reviews in Dr. Oogle. I am the third person I know of that he has dismissed as a patient for no reason or bogus reasons after taking a significant chunk of money, promising detailed treatment plans, and not delivering. He obviously has very significant ego problems and as part of that he over promises and over charges.There are many excellent, CARING providers in DC who understand that many of us have to literally work for years to pay their high bills and we have the right to ask questions and expect a high standard of care. An excellent dentist. I have a complex and somewhat unusual situation with my front teeth, that Dr. Progebin and his team were able to correct. I consulted with eight other dentists and chose Dr. Progebin and his team - an ortho, endodontist and oral surgeon - all of whom were competent and did a fantastic job. They fixed my teeth so well that even other dentists do not see the work that was done with the naked eye - so natural my teeth appear now. I mentioned Dr. Progebin's name to my friends and recommended him repeatedly. He's the best dentist I've ever had. Dr. Progebin has a cordial personality, and his office team are all professional and friendly. My only concern is that he's one of the most expensive doctors you can possibly find... but he's worth the money. read more

Dr. Progebin is an outstanding prosthodontist. He is extremely smart and highly skilled, uses cutting edge practices and technology, delivers superb results, and is an absolute pleasure to work with. He loves what he does and it shows. When I met Dr. Progebin for the first time, I was frightened and traumatized. Another dentist had convinced me to do "implants in a day"; after two months the implants failed and caused substantial bone loss. In short, a dental disaster. Dr. Progebin was honest, forthright and reassuring that he could fix my smile. He quarterbacked the entire treatment program referring me to an equally outstanding oral surgeon for multiple surgeries and implant placement--they worked together seamlessly. Once the implants were healed, Dr. Progebin fabricated the teeth methodically and meticulously. Never once did I experience pain or discomfort in his office or at home. The final result is simply superb--far exceeding my expectations of what might be possible. His leadership, kindness and great sense of humor did wonders for calming me down and were instrumental in moving me forward from my previous dental disaster.
