I am genetically missing 5 adult teeth (all in the front) and had bone & gum graft surgery/implants/crowns put in 10 years ago by Dr. Gyuricza. To put it lightly, Dr. Gyuricza's work was completely botched. Fast forward 10 years, it was time to replace my crowns. I was referred to Dr. Moini by my best friend's mom. I was in the market for a skilled Prosthodontist b/c I didn't want to just go with any general dentist who had a great before & after gallery. My previous doctor was a referral & had a great before & after gallery on his website but still did a horrendous job. This time around, I needed to see the 'after' in real life and I had my best friend's mom as living proof. I met Dr. Moini & his staff (Gloria & Sabrina) and immediately went with him and I'm really glad I did. Dr. Moini made me feel comfortable and not only that, he was mortified at my crowns that my previous doctor had placed in... so much that he couldn't stop staring at it during my first appt b/c it was bothering him that much! He also noticed that gums around my implant/crowns were in bad shape, something that my general dentist completely missed. Only after a deep cleaning by his dental hygienist Mary, a special toothbrush and instructions on how to floss around my crowns, did my gums heal. The provisionals (temporary crowns) that he placed looked 100x better than my old crowns. Dr. Moini ended up replacing 1 abutment (saved the other 2 abutments), and all the crowns.The entire process did take a few months for me to get my permanent crowns b/c the shape & shade of the crowns had to be an extremely close match, but it is worth the wait so definitely be patient. It takes time for perfection! Dr. Moini was extremely easy to work with. He answered my plethora of questions, complaints, comments, & suggestions during each appointment. Today, I finally got my final permanent crown in and I am extremely happy with the results. There were definitely a lot of obstacles that he & Tom had to work to overcome during the whole process, including finding a replacement abutment for my old implants (during which Dr. Moini spent HOURS calling every company out there and ended up ordering from Europe I believe) and Tom had to come probably 4-5x to meet with me to ensure he was getting the shade & shape of the crown perfectly. Dr. Moini had Tom remake my crowns THREE times so this shows that he will make sure you're happy with the crowns and stick with you until you are satisfied. I know MANY doctors out there will not redo any crown let alone three, and they will permanently cement the crown after 2-3 visits even if you're not happy with them. Off the bat, I could tell that Dr. Moini is extremely gentle & meticulous with his work and that Gloria (his dental assistant) is also very detail oriented with her work as well. She will make a great dental hygienist in the future! If you're unsure or on the fence about Dr. Moini, look no more and go with him, you will NOT be disappointed! read more

The two stars is mostly for lack of transparency and patient follow-up. When I first walked into the office, I was pleasantly surprised by the tranquil atmosphere. Front-desk service was great; however, when I checked in, I realized Dr. Moini was a dentist and NOT a doctor. My student healthcare does not cover dentists. I had been referred by an ear specialist at G-town hospital who thought Moini may be able to help determine whether my ear problems were a result of TMJ/ muscular/ joint problems. Only on check-in did I encounter signs that said "DDS." I immediately brought this up with the receptionist, reiterating that my insurance did not cover ANY "dental" work and I could not pay for it out-of-pocket. I was a graduate student living off loans. I was having trouble making rent! She and Dr. Moini coaxed me into the consultation room, telling me there might me a chance my insurance would cover it (since it was a muscular/ joint problem), and if not, "they would follow up with me, and we would come up with some mutually-determined discount rate." They also knew I left in less than a week for an unpaid internship overseas. I should have followed my gut, canceled on the spot, and walked out, but sometimes I am stupidly naive. Needless to say, payment was due at time of service, so I put it on my credit card and hoped I'd hear from them soon. Over the summer, I noticed they had submitted the claim twice to my insurance, and twice it had been denied. I called and left a message when I returned in September and followed up with a letter, hoping to discuss the "discount" rate and get some reimbursement, and never heard back from them. Perhaps if I pushed and pushed and pushed, they may have responded, but the all-consuming demands of graduate school soon took over, and I felt powerless. I had been under the impression they would take a more proactive, service-oriented role, and it wouldn't be a "fight." So, in sum, Moini had great bedside manner and definitely knew his stuff, and I would have trusted him with my life BEFORE this dubious billing fiasco. At the end of the day, I need to know my doctors are looking out for me and are on my side, but after this experience, I felt a bit swindled. read more

Dr. Moini is a very gentle and thoughtful doctor who took his time and explain everything in detail. My daughter was referred to him by another doctor because she was having bad jaw pain. He assured us that she did Not need surgery which was suggested by another doctor in the Baltimore area. He made a splint for her to wear when she was at home and sleeping and after only a few weeks she was pain free! He was 100% right with his diagnosis and treatment! I would recommend him to anyone! What I learned, is Always get a second opinion when it comes to jaw issues especially if surgery is suggested!!! read more

Dr. Moini is truly a man with two hats. He is a health care provider but more important or just as importantly, he is interested in every patient's health. Keeping in mind that good health is a 24/7/365 effort for all of us. Dr. Moini makes sure that when you leave his office, you know how to care for your teeth, your mouth and your gums on a day to day basis. Dr. Moini takes the time to educate his patients on what to do to make sure that we can keep the teeth health and happy. He certainly is a master at taking care of problems but I have found in the 24 years that he has a talent in making sure that we are brushing, flossing, rinsing, bite guards and whatever else we need to make sure that we can eat what we want for the rest of our lives. As all of us baby boomers get older, we are much more conscious of being able to continue to eat a good steak, corn on the cob and salad when we want it and to be able to eat and apple off the core. Oh how delicious it is. If we don't care for our teeth as Dr. Moini teaches us, we will never be able to do this and our life would be less rich. As far as I am concerned, he is the best there is in the DC market. And as someone else said when he cannot make the repairs that need to be made, he has someone equally good to refer his patients. He is a remarkably skilled prosthodontist - truly, other dentists who see our crowns (many!) remark on how "beautiful" they are and in some cases recognize them as Dr. Moini's work. Beyond that, he is truly dedicated to making his patients comfortable and dealing at the highest professional level with their dental issues. He will stick with you until everything is right and has the skills/facilities to make many device adjustments that others would send out to an external lab. The office is serene and the staff interested in each patient's comfort and satisfaction. Going to the dentist isn't fun, but this is as good as it gets.
