Definitely get your cavities filled here. I've been visited Dunn Dental for a couple years now. They've always offered good service but today was something special. I had a cavity in one of my wisdom teeth and was totally dreading that I'd have to get numbed with novocaine and deal with a dental drill. Until the dentist wheeled out this new laser they've been using to replace the drill. It required no numbing (so no needle in my gums, major plus) and the degree of discomfort involved was really minor, almost zero (think, like, the feeling of cold on a sensitive tooth but really short-lived). Seriously, the whole procedure was such a huge relief compared to what I'd been expecting. Totally recommend this office if you're expecting to deal with a cavity. Thanks, Dr. Dunn. read more

I was referred to Dr. Dunn by a friend who is currently a patient. My appointment was supposed to take one hour, but it ended up taking two. The doctor was busy with another patient, and unfortunately, no one informed me about the extended wait time. I eventually had to get up out of the chair and tell them that I needed to leave for a meeting. During the appointment, I was informed that I needed dental work that would cost $4,000. I decided to seek a second opinion from another dentist. I've asked three times for my dental X-rays to be shared with the other dentist, but I still haven't received them. The second dentist told me that the cleaning I received from Dr. Dunn was poorly done and that I didn't need the dental work she suggested. Dr. Dunn is a skilled and kind professional. Her staff is equally awesome. Ive recently had a ton of work done at her office. She's been patient with my dental phobia and mini freak outs (not anger but scared freak outs). She's communicated with me after hours, patiently answering my questions. I honestly dont understand the negative reviews. Dr. Dunn was recommended to me by another doctor who also uses her services. Also, I have never been pushed to buy anything that didn't make sense. As a longtime client, I was highly dismayed when Dunn Dental stopped accepting insurance but did not notify me of this change. I was allowed to proceed with my normal annual cleaning, complete with full x-rays, then charged $400 for what should have been a fully covered visit. The practice then did not respond when I tried to follow up. The office manager claimed notification was sent in November and made some negative comments about my dental insurer (which I'm sure is fair enough, but it's not my fault). When I followed up with screen shots of my email inbox showing that I did not receive the claimed notification, the office did not respond. From other Yelp reviews, it appears I'm not the only patient who did not receive notification. I was a client of Dr. Dunn for 8 years and it was disheartening to receive this treatment after being a client for so long. read more

Like other reviewers, I had been a patient of Dr. Kahl and stayed with the new owner after his retirement. The first few visits were great and I never had a reason to question the care I was receiving, but the practice has become a sales office. Today, the hygienist and Dr. Dunn pushed me HARD to get Invisalign (literally the first time in my 36 years I've been told I need braces). She mentioned that she had already spoken to another patient this morning about Invisalign, and while checking out I heard a third person get the same spiel. Did I mention I had an 8:30 AM appointment? What are the odds that 3 adult patients within an hour in a small office would all need braces? I hopped on Yelp to see if my suspicions were confirmed, and I saw others saying they'd gotten the same treatment. I simply cannot trust this dentist anymore. I'll always be wondering if the treatment plans are legitimate or just for the $$$. read more

On April 4th, I visited the office for a routine cleaning among other things. After the hygienist completed her work, she observed an improvement in my gums since the last session with the Dunn Dental group which was sometime over the winter holidays. The doctor on duty followed up with his exam, making the same assessment. He wondered what I was doing differently, especially after I had been seeing the Dunn Dental group for several years. I told him I did as he advised me the last time we met. I used the recommended dental tools from the office. I was pleased seeing he was pleased with the result. So what did I use? An electrical toothbrush, regular floss, the recommended waterpik and Listerine. I haven't always been the best dental patient, especially when it came to flossing. Because I like the waterpik, I feel compelled to floss more. I remember the doctor saying to use regular floss to get the heavy stuff out and to use the waterpik for the more looser items. Im suprised at the negative reviews.. I was just in the office today, and thought it was the best experience I ever had! Ive been to other dental practices that have had no interest in my personal needs. Dr Dunn and the entire staff was so welcoming and kind. They even came in and went over my insurance benefits and explained how it worked and what my cost would be before I scheduled an appointment. A truly nice visit to the dentist. read more

I became a patient of Dr. Dunn when my previous dentist sold his business to her. She seemed very capable; however, a few years in, I noted the office becoming fancier and fancier, the staff expanding, and increasing advertising around the office for pricey cosmetic treatments. After recommending Invisalign to me several times, Dunn told me I "needed" it to correct my crowding and prevent further gum recession (a real, growing issue I faced). They provided me a treatment plan for Invisalign, promising that my insurance would cover $2k of the total $6K, and the $4K remaining could be paid off over 24 months at $166/month no interest. Turns out 1) my insurance did NOT cover it -- they just hadn't checked the policy first, and 2) the payment plan was actually a deferred interest credit card (something unfamiliar to me). I set the bills up on autopay at $166/mo, forgot it about them, and then 24 months later, when it was almost but not quite paid off... got hit with a surprise $2K in deferred interest charges! This place is clearly in a money making market and not focused on helping patients. What a horrific experience. Avoid at all costs! read more

Dunn Dental Group is dishonest and not forthcoming when given the opportunity to be transparent on multiple instances. In between my first visit & most recent, they stopped accepting ANY insurance. I did not find this out until after sitting on the phone with my insurance for 2 hours that they are now out of network. I called Dunn Dental Group to confirm and they said they sent out an email last November sharing the updates (although I never received "said" email). It would have been a good business practice for them to share the update when they were confirming my appt as well as when I was clearly confused after checking out of my appt on why I was being charged out of pocket only for them to say my insurance will reimburse me. Well this is not the case (they know my insurance won't reimburse 100%) and for their premium prices, it was a mediocre cleaning and no real value to their service. I'm writing this review to save someone from running into the same trouble I did and out of pocket +$200! read more

By far the best dentist I have visited and the best dental office. I really have some fears of going to doctors and it's really bad with dentists. But Dr. Dunn is so friendly and nice, she explained everything that was going on or that she will be doing descriptively and was very happy to answer any question. I have really bad grinding issues and she helped me fix my self created damages and provided me with solutions to my issue. The staff is super friendly and always happy. It's really a great visit every time I go. I am new to the area but not even before have I found a practice I'm so happy with. read more

It had been a very long time (decades) since I visited a dentist office - I had a bad experience years ago. But I bit the bullet and decided to try Dunn Dental Group. I found the entire experience safe, comfortable and friendly. They found some issues that needed to be taken care of immediately and made note of a few things that we're going to watch over the next few months and years - evidently chewing ice is super bad for you. I especially like the fact that they give me the exact cost of any treatment up front so that I can make educated decisions about my dental care. There are no surprises! I now have so much trust in Dr. Dunn that I've gotten Invisalign through her and look forward to every visit. I moved to the area and was looking for a new dentist, I would never recommend Dunn Dental Group to anyone. While the staff are extremely friendly, Dr. Dunn is extremely pushy and more of a salesperson then a dentist. The front office are extremely rude, unpleasant, and incompetent. I was a patient of the dentist whose practice Dr. Dunn bought - I was inclined to continue going there once it became Dunn Dental Group, but multiple bad experiences led me to run. I would advise anyone considering going here to also look at reviews about Dunn Dental Group on Edward Kahl's yelp page (which is the former practice). I have never before experienced a dental practice more intent on selling me unnecessary services than on cleaning my teeth, to the point that I considered filing a complaint with the dental ethics board. First was the push for whitening services, even after I repeatedly asked for them not to be brought up again. Next was being told I needed braces and conveniently being recommend Invisalign, for which there were brochures all over the office - my new dentist scoffed when I brought up the idea of needing braces. But the real killer for me was the shoddy work and condescending attitude of Dr. Paul (who I asked NOT to see, and for some reason the front desk kept scheduling me with). (Aside from the salesmanship, I had good experiences with Dr. Dunn.) When I refused to consider the notion of getting braces, Dr. Paul suggested that my refusal was based on monetary reasons given that I had an upcoming wedding and said we could revisit after the wedding, even though I made clear I was not interested in discussing further. He also gave me the worst dental filling I have ever had - I could tell right away that something was wrong with it, and my new dentist confirmed that it had been badly done to the point that if a dental resident were to do such a bad job during his or her boards, "they would fail." From the gentleman at the front desk, to the dental hygienist, to Dr. Dunn herself (and can't forget Dolly the office dog!) - everyone was welcoming, friendly and extremely competent and knowledgeable. When I moved to the DMV area I was very cautious about choosing my dentist. Dr. Dunn was recommended to me and I am so happy she was! She took the time to ask me what I needed to be comfortable as I don't really enjoy going to the dentist from the beginning. We discussed many options for my dental health but not once did I feel like she was trying to sell me anything unnecessary, which I have experienced elsewhere. This office is full of trained salespeople who do not care about patient well-being. I have never had a remotely positive experience there, and will never be back after my last visit. Dr. Dunn's beside manner is patronizing and aggressive. Frankly, everyone in the office is rude with the exception of the friendly front office ambassador. Stay far, far away from Dunn Dental Group! I originally was very impressed- a newly renovated office, modern technology, and a comfortable dental chair experience. However, after many visits here, I am confident that this is more of a professional sales company than a trusted, professional dental provider. Each step of the way, I was required or aggressively recommended extra high-cost services. For routine dental care, I was scheduled for two separate deep cleanings that required injections of anesthetic. Subsequently, I was diagnosed "at risk" for gum disease and asked to come in 4 times per year, adding additional high-cost fees, as only two annual cleanings are typically covered by insurance. And each time I visited the office, the dentist and hygienist pushed additional services (from teeth whitening to sleep apnea tests), as well as sternly encouraged purchases of expensive dental products, even so far as to give me their referral code so that they could receive a commission. The end result of all of this is that I feel that I cannot trust this dentist, and it seems that their monetary interests outweigh their concern for those they care for. After recently switching to another office, where I have not had to deal with any of these issues, I am very certain in my decision not to return and strongly encourage you to avoid. read more
