I communicated them I wanted to end my relationship with them and guess what? They are refusing to send me my records without a fee way above what DC allows. The staff at this clinic lied to me and misled me about my treatment and that hurt even more than the tooth pain I'm still in. They used fhe crisis i was in to manipulate money out of me and I got nothing in return for it. It was totally unecessary what Dr Lee did and it is unethical what happened. I see Lauren from the clinic responded with a false statement that I was there only for an opinion. Thats false. I stated clearly I was looking for a dental clinic to get a tooth extraction. The employee at the front desk brazenly lied about the billing and what services would be offered. And yes, you did schedule me in despite being booked but the motive was not to help me but to take money for nothing from me. Thats not what i was there for and the amount mentioned to me was mentioned as part of the cost of getting the procedure eventually and it would be bundled but i had to pay for the consultation first. If i had known it was just a "limited consultation" I would not have done it because it cost alot of money relative to not getting anything of value from it and then they said I would have to go to a different dental office for the procedure i already knew i needed when i came in. Talk about a very limited evaluation! I paid hundreds to be back at square one. The business owner callously describes mee as desperate in her response. Yes, I was desperate to end the tremendous pain of my pngoing dental emergency and find a compotent trustworthy dental clinic and clearly walking into your business was the wrong choice for that. It makes your unethical manipulative conduct even worse and makes you seem desperate for business if you have to mislead them and not disclose you dont do the procedure they are there for. I was so burnt out from the last bad dental experience, that I let my guard down and had faith I wasn't beong lied to. You exploited that. You knew i was out of network and didnt have coverage and still took advantsge of my situation. They charged for an.xray and I didnt even need one to identify the problem. The consultation was so rushed and fast it felt like a mugging. Dr. Lee should wesr a ski mask with the holes cut. We need to wriite our legislators to ask them to write laws and regulations fhat prevent dental, and all medical offices from this type of coercive and dishonest conduct read more

I had a terrible experience at West End Dental. First, the office is extremely old, dusty and dingy -- liked it was ripped from the 1980s and no one had cleaned it or updated it (including with basic technology like online forms) since the 80s. I should have left as soon as I saw the state of the exam room and some of the old, dusty-looking equipment. But against my better judgment, I stayed and had an appointment with Dr. Kim. He was extremely condescending and belittling. He spoke to me like I was a 4 year old (despite me being a full grown, educated adult). It was a terrible experience and a total waste of my time and money. I will never return to this place. read more

This was the worst dental experience I've ever had. I saw Dr. Lee for an annual teeth cleaning for the second year in a row. Unlike my first visit last year when he was very professional, this time he acted as if it were a speed race and finished the entire cleaning in less than ten minutes. He rushed through the cleaning, polishing, and flossing in the fastest, sloppiest manner. Again less than 10 mins in total. He told me I had a cavity that needed filling. When I asked if he could do it now, he said no because he didn't have time. I asked him how long it would take and he said 30 minutes. I looked at the time and saw it was only five minutes after the start time of my appointment. When I pointed this out, Dr. Lee said he was exhausted and wouldn't be able to do his best work, that he was doing me a favor by asking me to schedule another appointment and come back. If that's the case, then why did he keep the appointment and treat me to substandard care. I told the office staff I will not be going back there again. read more

TL;DR: They're super disorganized internally (why send me something to fill out in advance at the same time as you supposedly have me down for an appointment) and condescending. Their calendars don't align with ZocDoc (why even be on there then?) and it was too hard to make and confirm an appointment so I will never know how the actual dentists are as I'm going elsewhere. I made an appointment on Zoc Doc, received an email saying I need to call to confirm. When I did, I was told that the time I had booked wasn't available and that their system doesn't work with Zoc Doc, so the times Zoc Doc shows aren't accurate but that she could fit me in with a different dentist on a different day. We discussed dates and times and I put the one we agreed on in my calendar. She said she'd send the new patient forms right away, and instead of that she sent them three days later. The forms aren't fillable PDFs so if you live in the year 2020 without a printer there's nothing you can do with them. I confirmed receipt via email and said I would have to fill them out in person the following day, to which I was told I had missed my appointment for that same day and couldn't be "rescheduled" for another two weeks. The timestamp on the email with the new patient forms is like 30 minutes prior to my supposed appointment, and is not at the time we had discussed. Everyone is fallible and this could be my mistake, but the condescending way the receptionist spoke to me and said "do you remember when we spoke? I don't want to accuse you of anything, but maybe you just forgot to mark it down" felt pretty darn accusatory. I'm religious about my calendar so I just don't believe I messed this up and don't want to work with a practice that is this rude and disorganized because I can only imagine what this means for billing and scheduling other appointments. The actual dentists have good reviews, though, so I guess that part is my loss. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Izadi for a couple of years now. I like the fact that it's a nice sized practice, and isn't so big that you have to get in line to get an appointment when you have an urgent matter. The people in the practice are friendly and professional and you don't feel like a cog in a wheel. (Are you sensing a theme here?) At any rate, Dr. Izadi is very good, I've seen her for both routine cleanings and for special teeth issues, and she's been excellent all around. First time at West End Dental today. I called this morning with an emergent issue, and I was scheduled for 11:15. I arrived a little early to complete the intake forms. Staff was friendly and efficient from the get-go. I was brought back to the room before my appointment time, and the technician was complementary and kind. She quickly took X-rays, and no sooner had she finished when Dr. Izardi arrived. She listened to my concerns, and she immediately got down to business. Luckily, it was a quick fix, and I was walking out a short time later. Each staff member with whom I interacted provided wonderful customer service. The most unorganized office I've ever dealt with and they're now threatening to send me to collections because of it. I visited in 2020. I provided my insurance details at the visit, via email after my visit because it was not updated the first time, then received another email asking for it a third time. The claim they sent to my insurance listed the wrong doctor, who did not accept my insurance, and they still have yet to fix it properly. I've been assured countless times they are taking care of it and they'll clear the balance, but I just got ANOTHER EMAIL, almost two years later, saying I have a past due balance. This latest notice even has the incorrect visit date. I've wasted so much time trying to get this straightened out, and was avoiding leaving reviews, but I don't know what else to do to get them to fix this. read more

I have been to West End Dental on two separate occasions - once for a specific exam and another for a routine dental cleaning. I had a positive experience with Dr. Izadi at both visits. However, after my routine cleaning I was hit with a $128 bill a couple of weeks later. The doctor had taken full x-rays at my visit, which apparently were not covered by my insurance because it had not been long enough since my previous x-rays. Every dentist I have ever gone to in the past (and I go to the dentist regularly twice a year) has always checked to see what the frequency limitations are with my insurance before taking x-rays or bitewings, since most dental insurance plans only cover these types of diagnostics once a year, once every two years, etc. Regardless of whether West End Dental checked to see whether those x-rays would be covered by my insurance, they certainly should have discussed potential costs with me prior to completing the x-rays. I would have refused the service had I known I would be hit with a $100+ bill for it, especially considering it was not a necessary diagnostic to take. Due to the lack of transparency regarding charges, I do not recommend using this dentist. And if you do, be sure to ask for all potential costs before they complete anything for you because I learned that West End will not provide you with that information unless you specifically seek it out beforehand. My impression from this last visit and unexpected bill is that West End Dental's priority is to see how much money it can make off of their patients without providing them with any warning of costs. Letting patients know how much a visit could cost in the case that their insurance will not cover it is a reasonable courtesy that all patients should be afforded. If you decide to visit Dr. Izadi, proceed with caution. read more

BEST dental experience I have ever had. I've had a number of horrible dentists and West End Dental was a refreshing and welcomed change with amazing dentists!! The staff was super friendly and verified that they took my insurance. Office had flexible appointments which worked with my busy schedule! The office was super clean, up to date and modern. Dr. Izadi and Dr. Kim were amazing! It was so refreshing to be treated by an actual dentist and not some dental assistant. I initially went to Dr. Izadi for a cleaning after a HORRIBLE experience at another dental clinic nearby. Dr. Izadi spotted my cavities right away. Dr. Kim even came in for a consult and they saved me from having a root canal (few)l. Dr. Izadi and Dr. Kim did a great job of diagnosing my toothache, filling in my cavities and saving my tooth from a root canal! I had the pleasure of having both Dr. Izadi and Dr. Kim working on my cavities. This is the first time in my life that I did not feel pain while having dental work done. I'm no longer scared to go to the dentist and getting my cavities filled was not the horrible experience that I had undergone so many times before. The dentists were super professional and polite, explained everything to me clearly, and didn't try to upcharge me for anything or force services on me I didn't need. I also got whitening trays made for teeth bleaching. Dr. Izadi and Dr. Kim had West End Dental had them ready within 24 hours (which was amazing because I needed them ASAP for a wedding). The office is super convenient to get to since its located by both an orange/blue line metro stop and red line metro stop. Could not be a better location for working downtown by Farragut or living in Dupont/West End/Georgetown/Foggy Bottom. Plus its super close to my gym at SCLA! I have found my permanent dentists here and will continue being a patient even if I move!! I give Dr. Izadi, Dr. Kim and West End Dental an A++++++ read more

I have been going to Dr. Izadi for years even before she set up an office in D.C. I live in LA now, but I still come back to her to everytime I come back to visit home. She treated my very first cavity (which I was freaking out about - never had my teeth drilled) and she was awesome. Very gentle and reassuring. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Izadi and all the staff at West End Dental. First, I have a terrible fear of going to the dentist, that being said, Dr. Izadi and the team could not have been more understanding, so friendly, and will in to work with my dental phobia. Second, the only reason I ended up going to the dentist in the first place was due to an issue which suddenly came up out of nowhere. I was grateful that I was able to get an appointment first thing the next day, but unfortunately, Dr. Izadi was unable to help with my issue but took it upon herself to call two dental specialists who were able to see me that very day, which would NEVER happen without her thoughtfulness and caring. She even called the next day to see how I was doing. I can defiantly say my fear of dentist has gone way down, and that is all due to Dr. Izadi and the staff of West End Dental. They dealing my dental insurance with unprofessional attitude, and when they make mistake at their end, they ask their client pay for it. I received an extra bill accidentally even the doctor assured me that I already paid off all the fees on my side before I left their office. When I questioned about this new bill. I got the following arrogant response from Dr. Kim. 1st of all they do not acknowledge their commitment to settle my bill. 2nd, they in turn questioned me why I did not check the coverage policy with the insurance company myself before the treatment. 3rd. they irresponsibly suggest me to do the insurance pre-authorization before my next treatment, when I ask Dr. Kim how long it gonna take, he answered he has no idea. As a two-year customer I feel be treated unfairly. They has rash attitude when handling of the insurance, and ask their client to pay for their mistakes. And I do agree with another review here, that they always ask me do extra treatments. Even I only schedule for routinely teeth cleaning, last time they suggested me do the expensive deep teeth cleaning, this time is resin composites. I should check with other dental office before I pay for those treatments. read more

Since moving to D.C. two months ago, everyone in this city has been so nice and the West End Dental crew is no exception! I'm always a little wary at the dentist since I don't know what to expect, but Dr. Izadi made me feel welcome and comfortable in her chair; she was so friendly and quick to spot the issue and explain it to me clearly. I've trusted my teeth to Dr. Kim for approx 3 years while he was with a different group practice. I've since followed him to West End Dental. I must say that I have received the same high quality of service from him. Regarding the billing- insurance can pose some hiccups, however, I'd give them a chance to get their flow going around insurance. I believe patients forget that it's ultimately their responsibility to find out the cost via their insurance prior to visiting the doctor. Doctors are given estimates but will not know exactly what the insurance companies will reimburse at times until after the actual work is completed. So, maybe plan a little wiggle room. read more

Awesome experience at West end dental. I was visiting the DC area with my family over the weekend and my father ended up chipping at tooth over lunch on friday. I found Dr. Izadi's office because of the awesome reviews already on yelp, and I'm so glad I went with her since I couldn't go back to my usual dentist. I've had probably 5 or so dentists inside and outside of the DC area in the last 25 years. These folks are the best, most friendly, and knowledgable dentists I've ever had. And the wait is basically non-existant. My appointment time is my appointment time - no bluff. I've gotten a lot of work here: a new mouth guard, bunch of fillings (someone didn't take care of their teeth as well as they should have as a teenager). They've given me blunt/No BS responses on things from crowns to getting my wisdom teeth pulled. And have have been helpful about costs/what's covered when I changed insurance 3 times in 1 and a half years! BTW, they were part of all 3 of my dental plans... so - pretty expansive! Dr. Izadi and the front desk staff are all great. And they respond quickly over email and by phone. read more

I went there after my dentist retired. Every time they found something to fix, I have no idea if it needed to be fixed. I felt like I was getting treatment just for the money. I found West End Dental from yelp. Dr. Lauren Izadi is a great dentist who is very pleasant. I had two crowns done and a mouthguard for teeth grinding. Dr Izadi was understanding when I didn't like the first crown and had it sent back to the lab without any problem. Prices were reasonable, and the office accommodated my need to have work done quickly because of travel. I also liked confirming appointments via email instead of phone. I love Dr. Izadi! She is incredibly kind and is an amazing dentist. I had been going to her practice for years, but when I changed jobs across town, I tried another dentist close to my office. BIG MISTAKE. I was told I needed work done which did not seem right, so I decided to get a second opinion from Dr. Izadi. Turns out the new dentist was completely wrong, and I was so thankful for Dr. Izadi's care. She is well worth the metro ride across town, and I will be sure to return promptly in six months. On a side note, she really is just a great person- I had not been there for years and she remembered my husband's name, where he worked, that we have a son, etc. That says a LOT about her character. I so enjoyed my visit to West End Dental. I was warmly greeted to the practice and the environment was inviting and relaxed.
