When they finally responded because there was water pouring through my ceiling like a waterfall, they tried to tell me that they didn't have my correct phone number yet it was the same number id had multiple texts and calls with since they took over managing the building in April of 2025. The "contractors" that did the repairs were unprofessional, caused more damages to personal property, Kevin accused me of being deceptive because my photos were not "time stamped". I have a claim in with my renters insurance and neither my insurance company nor myself can get a response from anyone at REI. I've asked REI to please respond. Not to mention I found this Google review today. Ed Crespo is the manager in charge of REI. But apparently he likes to make reviews on google and pretend to be a tenant. Other tenants have had issues with them as well and action needs to be taken. If I didn't have to give them at least one star to post this, I would give them none.

To say they are slum lords that would be too lenient. They are the absolute worst of the worst …read more They do not care about their tenants, only the money . You can put in maintenance request and they will mark them as completed without ever doing the work . You have to get outside agencies involved in order for them to repair anything . Then, when they do repair , if that is what you call it, it's poorly done . It's just enough for them to pass inspections. They also violate your rights by failing to give you notice and enter your residence without proper 48 hour notice . They talk extremely horrible about their CHA tenants . Arthur Stewart believes he is the smartest person in the room and likes to try and intimidate and bully you . You must KNOW your rights with a company like this . I went without heat in my bathroom with small children all winter . I was told that it was not a requirement so, therefore, they were not putting any heat in the bathroom . Yet, I am sure in their homes , they shower and bathe comfortably. None of the wiring was done correctly as I was told by the city inspector ( yes I had to call the city on them). I was informed the outlets could spark and start a fire at any moment . Then, my front porch stairs were completely broken up for months . They finally send their maintenance man in to fix it , but when do they come ? When it's raining . They also decided to paint the stairs when it was raining without my knowledge and or notice and also failing to provide any sign indicating the stairs were wet or slippery causing me to slip on the stairs and hurt myself. With all of the complaints , I don't see how they are still operating ! They have a house on Loomis , they haven't done any work to in years that is in absolutely deplorable conditions. Then, don't get me started on their plumbers. They will come out and charge the current tenant for what the previous tenant had done but they failed to fix before moving the next person in. Also, what is a simple rodding job; they will instead lie and say the toilet amongst other things need to be replaced . They charge the tenant as they say the tenant is the one that stuffed the toilet with hygiene products etc . Yet, allow me to remind you all , they NEVER fixed the issue from the previous tenants or the ones before that. They sit in that office collecting money and getting paid by these owners for absolutely nothing . They are slum lords and scammers!

HOWEVER, When levav brought the property everything went downhill. The hallways began to stink. Someone smashed our front door and it wasn't fixed until months later. And the door is still broken. Worst of all, they are disgraceful SLUM LORDS. I was paying $850 for a studio which is more than reasonable. One day I received a random phone call and was told that my rent would be raised to $1400. The excuse given was property taxes which is ridiculous. Worst of all they had no organized way of informing the tenants. They thought it would be sufficient enough to make people aware of their doubled rent by putting a note on the door. Now families who have been in their homes for 40+ years have to leave because of greed and discrimination. If Levav properties buys your building be prepared to be priced out. These are people with no morals or decency.
