This is based purely on an estimate so far, but we couldn't be happier with Professor Plumb from that one experience. We had a leaking outside garden faucet for months. After I realized that it was an anti-freeze valve and outside of my capabilities. I was dreading for months calling a plumber. I found Professor Plumb through Yelp by submitting a request for a quote. I was having an issue with my kitchen sink not draining. I submitted the request at 11pm (after hours) and received a response via Yelp Messages at 7am the following morning! We discussed the issue over the phone and they were able to get someone out at 9am the same day. The plumber that came out was on time and very respectful of my apartment. He was very quick in his assessment of the issue and went over the cost with me and the potential for additional cost if the clog was longer than 25 feet. I thought the quote for snaking the pipe was reasonable and I agreed with the quote and he started to snake the drain immediately. The work was quick and the plumber cleaned up after all the work. I am very satisfied with Professor Plumb and would recommend them to anyone with plumbing issues. I just had an estimate done. I'm sorry I didn't have the same experience as the rest of you. He came on time but gave me an estimate for $2451. He was going to charge $600 to run 40 ft pax ( I had 50 ft copper on hand) when it costs $30. Said I needed 1/2" when it only needed 1/4" pipe. I ended up getting the job done for $600. Amanda took my call and scheduled a technician to arrive the next morning between 10 and 12. Blue arrived during the scheduled time and examined the drain valve and pipes. He removed a hair clog and was done in 15 minutes. He was kind enough to show us how to clear this type of clog in the future and some preventative maintenance tips. The kicker? We were late meeting them, and Brian waited politely for us to get home. He was very knowledgeable and clearly has extensive experience checking for and repairing leaks. Had a technician B.W. Initials come and install new bathtub and stand up shower fixtures. Quoted a price and had to make two trips to the store to make it work properly. Didn't uncharge for the trips to the store, ended up buying the same thing I had but the package for everything needed was $80 and didn't charge us to for it. Stayed with the original quote. Didn't take the new ones we ordered, said to return it to recoup your money. That is incredible service you never see anymore. If needed again will 100% use this company. The faucet valves to my washer had corroded over time and would not close. Professor Plumb was able to fit my appointment in at the last minute. The job done was perfect. He replaced the valves, added an access panel to the wall were the pipes were located and cleaned up the laundry room floor nicer than it was when he arrived. Brian came by my house this morning and took a look at my tankless water heater which had a small leak from the cold water valve. He gave me an honest assessment and gave me a fair price for the repair. He also looked at our bathroom sink because the faucet had low water pressure. As a life-long DIY guy I seriously considered replacing and moving my own water heater; my now very bad back and the Dallas Code requirement for a permit (meaning a licensed plumber) said "NO"! My lowboy water heater, located under the stairs to the garage, wasn't supplying enough hot water for two morning showers. To increase capacity required a move 6 feet to the other side of the plumbing wall and into the garage. I purchased a Rheem Platinum 50 gallon from HomeDepot and thought I'd use their plumbing service, advertised at $298 for installation. A total non-starter! Only the most basic replacement job of a same-size heater in the same location using the existing plumbing is possible for that price. Everything else is extra cost at "same-day emergency rates". Not being in an emergency I took my time. Professor Plumb I found through their excellent Yelp reviews. Other plumbers I sourced through Home Advisor and similar sites. This part was disappointing experience in that pricing varied wildly, and as a group, they were either ignorant of the Dallas Plumbing Code (I've read it) or were being deliberately misleading to run up my bill. Professor Plumb was great right from the start. Clearly they've read the plumbing code and I was comfortable that they were straightforward, honest people. Blue spoke with me on the phone and organized my job. His partner Brian actually did the work. Both were knowledgeable, polite and transparent about their pricing. Professor Plumb charged a standard, all-inclusive fee of $648 for my water heater installation. Quotes from others were as high as $1,200. The work was done efficiently, properly and was completed at a fair price by Professor Plumb. I will certainly be using them again. And I recommend them to you. BTW, after engaging them to do the job I found that I could have purchased the same Rheem heater through them instead of HomeDepot and at exactly the same price.
