Anyone that has a semi-finished or finished basement needs to get their home tested for radon even after the initial inspection when buying a home. Get the Airthings radon detector and it'll give you short and long term readings. Radon levels change depending on the season and time. Once I realized the levels in my home were rising, I called Professional Radon Systems for a consult. The owner, Eric, came out to my home to determine where the radon mitigation system could go and showed me how and where the pipes would be routed. He sent me a quote later that day by email and I scheduled installation a couple weeks later. The install took less than a couple hours, and the crew that came were very courteous. They ran floor coverings down to my basement so they wouldn't track in or out any debris and they cleaned up after themselves. They showed me what to keep an eye on to make sure the fan was working and provided some documents. This whole experience was very nice. I'm grateful to have a liveable basement now. The work was sloppy. For example, the electrical conduit used to run power to the radon fan was not straight or plumb and the electrical box was tilted. The covers on the sump pits were literally kicked in half (as opposed to cut straight) and then installed around the sump pits with concrete screws and clear caulk haphazardly applied. We really enjoyed working with PRS. They were responsive, informative, funny, and respectful. One thing I appreciated was the way they structured the estimate. The other 2 quotes we received were a bit frustrating. One was going straight to the highest possible cost with 4 different suction points. The other had 2 options, but the minimum necessary pieces were split between the 2 options. PRS gave me a quote that showed the minimum work required and the additional costs if the material under my foundation prevent adequate suction. Luckily for me, they found through their work and testing that the minimum system would work just fine for us (2 suction points). It saved us over $1k. Our radon results dropped from 6.5 to 0.6 in the basement and from 5.2 to 0.5 above the crawlspace. They also allowed us to use a home test to secure our warranty. That also saved us hundreds of dollars. The install team was great too. They were funny, nice to my kids, and wore masks without hesitation or side glances. They also adjusted the PVC venting outside to make it more concealed. We were very pleased with our choice. You should call Eric and get his team to work with you. I don't think you will regret it. Plus I think they would bend over backwards to make sure they fixed anything that didn't meet you expectations. read more

I would highly recommend this company! I have recently needed the services of Professional Radon Systems (2 separate issues). Both times they had appointments available quickly (within a week of my calls) and they resolved the issues at each appointment. I contacted Professional Radon Systems for a quote for radon mitigation. After a home inspection, we learned that the radon levels were 9.9 pcl in the basement and crawl space. I wanted to get an accurate quote since we planned to ask the sellers for a credit at closing. Since this is a health and safety issue, I wanted to make sure we were covered. Professional Radon Systems responded in a timely manner, and communication was quick and easy. I scheduled an appointment for their employee to be at the house within a few days. The quote was fair and appeared accurate in comparison with what we received from another company. However, due to the crawl space being extremely narrow, they would not be able to guarantee the levels would be below 3.9 pcl - the standard acceptable level. This was an understandable obstacle, and I appreciated that they were transparent in communicating that information to me. However, the other company was able to provide a quote and was able to do all of the requested work. I would recommend Professional Radon Systems for others though. Their communication was good, the prices were what I expected, but unfortunately it wasn't a good fit for us due to the work we needed done. But you've got to respect a company that doesn't over promise and under deliver. read more

I contacted every company I could find while educating myself on the entire process. My house has unique situations where I have three cement slabs that needed to be addressed. There is no way a proper proposal could be provided without seeing my house first. One guy threw me a very high number saying he didn't need to see the job first. Three other companies gave me a price similar to Professional Radon as soon as I gave them my address. I guess Google Maps is all the information they needed. One company sent two kids out to look at the work. They said they were an installation crew but were clearly not very experienced. They were at my home for almost two hours but I knew after the first ten minutes that I was not going to use that company. When I told one lady at another company about my home and what needed to be done she replied, "Sir, they are really all the same." I was very conscientious in picking a contractor because my project was for my family and not part of a real estate transaction. Eric, the owner of Professional Radon Systems, personally came to my house to survey the project. Their price was not the lowest and nowhere near the highest. The technicians who did the work were very well trained and very experienced. The lead tech was a guy who clearly has installed hundreds of systems and could do the job with his eyes closed.
