When you think of the type of experience you would want your loved one to have while being in rehab (especially during coronavirus), this place delivers on every mark. My mom has thrived under their care, and the wonderful staff has given us all hope for her future. In addition to the great care she receives, the recreation department does an excellent job of scheduling video calls and in-person visits multiple times a week. They have gone above and beyond to support the patients and their families. Unfortunately, I can't say that was the case with the two other places my mom was at previously. I was extremely surprised to see the reviews for Affinity were not consistently stellar... I can't imagine a better place for my mom.

***Shirley Tao, who is a Healthcare Recruiter for Apex, exhibited disrespectful, inconsiderate,…read moredeflective, and other unprofessional conduct and behavior, and a lack of transparency regarding pertinent information related to an application I had submitted, for which I have now withdrawn my interest and application for the position previously applied for. *** I applied for an HHA position I found on Indeed that APEX had posted. Not long after I submitted, I received communication from Shirley and spent the end of last week running around to get diagnostic testing redone, etc. At no point did Shirley or the Indeed posting indicate "the facility has been known to be slow on interviews it does take them a few days to review" it wasn't until I withdrew my application via email that this information came to light if this was not bad enough, she had the audacity to tell me in the same email response she states " I did not hear from them an interview confirmation so I did not say anything" makes the entire interaction even worse and reinforces my point about a lack of transparency, consideration, and respect, which reflects very badly on her character and, subsequently, Apex. Sending a quick update, such as "Hey so-and-so" or whatever greeting you choose, followed by "I've submitted all your information to the facility. Once I receive an update regarding an interview date, I will let you know," or something along those lines, shows you respect the applicant and their time. Choosing not to say anything, as she did, and making that admission (which I would have kept to myself) indicates a basic lack of respect for the prospective applicant. There is a stark difference between miscommunication and non-communication, and it is apparent that she does not know the difference. In this case, this was non-communication on her part, but she says, "it was miscommunication," and, more importantly, there was a lack of transparency from the very beginning. She deflected, blaming the facility and/or me for her lack of candor/professionalism, when it was her/Apex responsibility to be transparent, which would have allowed me and other applicants who value their time to make an informed decision, but Shirley prevented that. When a person hides important facts and prevents you from making a smart choice about a job, it is called job scamming, fraud by omission, or deceptive recruitment. That is what Shirley did by preventing me, and potentially other prospective applicants, from making an informed decision. I have chosen to post these interactions as a matter of public interest and to warn others about potential interactions they may have when dealing with Shirley Tao. Some may ask why I gave it 2 stars if the interaction was this bad. The reason for the 2 stars is that A. Mahamed from H.R., whom I spoke to on the phone about this matter, was very pleasant to deal with and showed compassion, understanding, and a legitimate desire to resolve this matter. But I can't stay silent and not make others aware of these interactions with Shirley, because then I am complicit and a hypocrite for discussing issues of transparency and then not being transparent myself.

I am a former NYC and New York State employee, so I understand what the challenges public employees…read more(and vendors/service providers) face on a day to day basis. I'll keep it simple. My son was approved for a range of early intervention services. A service "coordinator" from Therapists 2 Go was in charge of his case. Despite a general lack of professionalism and responsiveness (good luck getting someone on the phone!) - we diligently completed a mountain of paperwork, coordinator various in-home evaluations, and participated in various calls. He is now five months old and we haven't received any services. In fact, we received an email this week saying our case is being transferred to a different provider. No other explanation as to why or what happens next (just a sloppy email with typos). I am filing a formal complaint with New York State - an organization like this should not be receiving precious resources for this type of crucial programming. What's more, I can't imagine what it would be like for someone trying to navigate this system with less time and less resources

Elizabeth was patient, supportive and direct in how she tutored her -- helping to anchor her in self-confidence and knowing she can figure things out when she slows down and leverages the core math facts and ways of approaching problem solving. She was great! Elizabeth also sent incredibly thorough weekly summaries of the progress our daughter was making, what they focused on and where she could use more support/effort. Our first aide gossiped about the other veterans she helped. Our second aide spent copious amounts…read moreof time using her phone. We are generously granted eight hours a week by the VA. For whatever reason, scheduling continues to be an issue with this company. I find myself repeatedly ringing to inquire if (I mean that, IF) someone has been identified to come help my Dad when the the assigned aide cannot come. There are peculiar communication protocols in place. Here's an example that will leave you scratching your head. We were switched to a new aide when the heavy phone user left. My Dad had two appointments scheduled months back at the VA. Realizing the new aide's schedule conflicted with my father's appointments I rang Utopia. I rang Utopia after speaking to the aide. She said I needed to ring Utopia. Fine. I speak to the coordinator at Utopia and I'm told: - Cancel the 2nd appointment of the day (The aide probably won't be able to do such a long day.) - Once I cancel the appointment, schedule the disabled bus service - Once the bus appointment is made call Utopia - Utopia will ask the aide if she can accompany Dad to his appointment - As the trip will go over the daily allotted time the extra hours will be subtracted from Dad's weekly eight hours Yeah, so I do all that. More than a week passes. But I follow their guidance. Utopia finally speaks to the aide. (AFTER I CALL THEM TO REMIND THEM.) The aide has a family and could never conceivably work those hours. Can Utopia find a fill-in aide to come a different day of the week? NO. So I find myself on Friday after Thanksgiving ringing Utopia. The coordinator had agreed to call "close of business" Tuesday to advise who would be coming Wednesday or Friday. It's Friday a little after 1pm. There isn't anyone on the schedule. I've been promised by the person answering the phone the primary coordinator will ring to 'resolve this'. But as I said to Utopia, it shouldn't be my responsibility to keep track of scheduling. What if I wasn't able to ring? What if it was just my father? I honestly don't think anyone would show. They are somewhat disorganized as a company. The phone using aide used to gripe about them alllll the time. I can see why now.
