After consulting with an orthopedist for my upper arm and shoulder problem, diagnostic x-rays and a MRI were obtained. It was his opinion that surgery may be needed; however a course of physical therapy should be first explored. After asking friends who they had visited, many suggested Sunshine Physical Therapy. I consulted with Venise Mule-Glass, DPT. Dr. Mule-Glass asked in-depth questions during my consultation to help her ascertain an overall but yet specific idea as to what I was experiencing. I cannot say enough positive things about Sunshine PT. Their patience, support and encouragement made it possible for me to regain full function of my knee. My initial consultation was in-depth and actually identified another health concern. My appointments began promptly minutes and I was always warmly greeted by name. Playing sports during my life made me well aware of a good place verse a not so good place. The owner and therapist Venise is a master at what she does. You would be hard pressed to find better. I heard great things about this place from my bf who went for a torn ACL. I called today to make an consultation appointment for snapping scapula and was off-put by the receptionist. Super rude. I was a bit confused because when she gave me a price per visit, I asked how long each visit was (45 min, 1 hour, etc.) and she acted like I had an extra chromosome for not knowing that the rate is the same no matter whether a 20-minute or 1-hour visit. I called Island Sports Physical Therapy immediately thereafter and it was a totally different experience, with a friendly, helpful receptionist. I am sorry that some great doctors lose business due to bitchy staff members who take out their bad days on potential clients. read more

Sunshine was recommended by a doctor and a friend. Called to setup an evaluation. Was told 2 weeks. Told needed sooner, please put on wait list. After 4 days. no call. Stopped by to see if there was any change in scheduling. The receptionist asked who I was and when I told her, she angerly said "I called you several times" I asked what number? She had written down a totally different area code and phone number. No apologies or consolation. Only "that's what you gave me". I think I know my own phone number. Sunshine needs to get competent help and deal in a friendly manner with customers. Recommendation is to go somewhere else. read more

If you need PT, you found the right place!! I was fortunate enough to be recommended to Sunshine after my surgery to fix a complete separation of my rotator cuff. It was a very painful surgery, but after waiting the appropriate time, I was evaluated by Venise (an amazing, intelligent, and empathetic therapist!) and she came up with a treatment plan. She nailed it! I recovered so well with the help of the entire Sunshine team lead by Venise that I have to pass on my experience. Unfortunately, my other shoulder needed surgery as well after a year. I was crushed. However, my surgeon did his job (he's amazing), then it was time for PT again. There was never a point where I considered going anywhere else. The Sunshine team, spearheaded by Venise and her incredible staff, are putting me back together again as I write this. They put you on a bicycle to waste the 15 minutes, I saw an old man fall asleep on the table trying to do a pelvis excerise because nobody was paying attention . The high school kids Who come in for therapy seem to get more Personal attention because the owner it seems grew up in the area and knows a lot of their parents. I would not recommend this group to anyone. Ms.Glass s NOT affiliated with HSS; as she claims. She does your evaluation. After that you'll get who knows from appointment to appointment. Health grades is locked at an undeserved 5 star rating. You can't say anything negative. I suspect foul play. I've been to numerous facilities over the years and this place and methods are antiquated. She makes you pay for your electrode pads and water! Yes, I said water. My experience was awful. Most of the staff, especially the long timers, were insincere and spent the morning discussing what they were having for lunch. ALWAYS. The office shuts down completely for their precious lunch. The facility is so small, the patients are on top of each other working on unmaintained equipment that is at least 30 years old. Not once was I asked how I felt from my last treatment; where is the pain is today, Etc. I was discharged before I was healed, with no home program because of their complete lack of knowledge of the CURRENT Medicare rules and PT. PT is NO LONGER strictly limited by dollar amount or visits. Of course, they were too lazy to REALLY investigate this. I did point this out. What a waste read more

If you have hip problems (or any problems) come see Venise. She is a hip expert. She was recommended by my surgeon as she was on the HSS list of preferred therapists. There was only one other to choose from on long island and that was in Northport. Her workout area is small but you are closely watched by her and her excellent team. Barry has been there a very long time and coordinates all the patients with machines and tables ensuring no one is left standing with nothing to do while they exercise. Venise comes around after you are done working out and gives hands on treatment to each patient. You don't always get this at other physical therapy offices. She is excellent at stretching and massaging and extremely knowledgable. She also takes in medical students under her wing to assist her. As I said you are never left in the dark while you are there. She has been a PT since 1978 I believe and she has had this office since the early 80s. The other girls Joanne, Denise, Chris, Benna, and Chiara are very caring and kind and are always quick to help you. read more

Sunshine Physical Therapy is professional, caring and simply excellent. I have had a lot of experience there having had 2 knee replacements recently and a variety of other issues in the past. Physical therapists Venise and Denise are both excellent in providing personal therapy and an awareness of your over-all well-being. All of the staff are caring and monitor you throughout your treatment. I personally do not like to exercise but I have no problem going there and using the various machines. I was anxious to start physical therapy several weeks after fracturing three ribs. I called for an appointment on July 31,2015 and was told my evaluation would be on Friday August 7. I asked them to call me if an earlier appointment became available. On Tuesday August 4 they called, not to move my appointment sooner but to tell me they could not accommodate me on August 7. They left a message telling me my evaluation would have to wait until the week of AUGUST 24 because of vacation schedules. So after my doctor gave me a prescription for PT they wanted to postpone evaluating me for 4 weeks!! Needless to say this was not acceptable and I had lost valuable time in commencing with my much needed PT. I found another PT and I am extremely happy with their efforts and have progressed nicely. read more
