Venise clearly knows what she is doing. I'm 1 1/2 months post opt for FAI hip repair surgery at HSS. I was told due to my age success rate would be lower than typical and hinged largely on quality of PT. HSS had recommended Sunshine and although it is far from my home, the drive has been worth it. Doing great! The first time I got on the exercise bike I felt that I couldn't mechanically do it, something wasn't working right. Venise came over and gently readjusted a ligament and got me moving! That was great. Now my only problem is being over eager and upping the exercises prematurely- but Venise has eyes in the back of her head so she will tell me stay on the setting she prescribed. A tremendously knowledgeable person, who takes pride in running her business well, while still maintaining the qualities of a true healer. Also, she did a clear full assessment of my daughters one sided shin splint and found the problem is in her hips as well as her feet! I have been going to Sunshine P.T. for a month after a total hip replacement and am happy to say that Venise and her staff are extremely knowledgeable and competent. I have gone to several other P.T. places in the past few years and have not progressed half as much as I am doing at Sunshine. Venise is very skilled and intuitive and has given me the exercises I needed to become stronger and more flexible. Even though the place is often crowded, Venise watches everybody and knows what they are doing at all times. She has commented on my posture and what I needed to improve several times when she was working on someone else. I never thought she noticed what I was doing but apparently she has eyes in the back of her head! I am very discerning and this is the only place that I would recommend. I highly recommend Sunshine Physical Therapy if you need rehabilitation from an illness or injury. This past winter I slipped on black ice and fractured my right wrist. As a Physical Therapist I discovered that after working with several local therapists I was not improving and I also realized I could not treat myself. I had taken a continuing education course with Venice and was impressed so despite a 40 minute drive I decided my health was worth the drive. In her evaluation I was impressed immediately by her detailed observational skills. She saw something in my posture that was affecting my knee. It turned out I had a leg length discrepancy that was affecting my back, hip and knee. After a few treatments and a pair of orthotics my back pain had gone away, my hip pain was 75% less and my knee was 50% less. I received care from Sunshine physical therapy in the summer of 2018, and could not have been more pleased both with my results and the professional, compassionate care I received from Venice and her staff. I was recovering from a broken collarbone, and after a thorough evaluation, I began two or three treatments a week. I was also given exercises to do at home. As each visit, I could feel my strength returning and realized that the exercises had been scientifically and specifically chosen for me. At one point, after asking how my pain was progressing, Venise prescribed a certain stretching regimen. Those stretches hurt at first, but clearly relieved and gradually removed the pain! Having had hip replacement surgery, I went to Sunshine and can't speak highly enough about the whole experience. Going from crutches to be able to walk properly without pain or a limp in less than 8 weeks is amazing. I feel Venise and her staff are wonderful. They take care of you with smiles and enthusiasm which helps in the healing process. They remind you that you are in charge of helping yourself recover by doing the exercises at home and even at work. I definitely think that this assisted in my speedy recovery. Venise and the Sunshine PT staff are by far the best around. I first went to Sunshine in 2012 after a major ACL reconstruction and meniscus tear. I was told by my doctor that I would never be at full range of motion or walk without a limp due to the severity of my injury. However, Venise and the staff were patient and consistent with my recovery. When I retore my meniscus less than a year later, I didn't even consider going anywhere else and Sunshine, once again, got me back on my feet. My first venture into any kind of physical therapy so the expectations were an unknown. All I can say is Venise, Barry and the entire staff were welcoming and fantastic. It was like being at home with experts there to work me through the physical therapy. They made it real and had me back to playing golf in less than 6 weeks after hip replacement surgery.
