When I came home, the blankets were neatly arranged with bows, the bathrooms looked spotless, and even the toilet paper was folded into the cutest design (I had to include a photo!). What really impressed me was noticing the next morning that they had even cleaned out my shower drain, something I hadn't expected and didn't realize until later. One of my two AC condenser units that cooled our bedrooms and loft stopped working last night in…read morethe midst of a heat wave right before the July 4th holidays. Thankfully our other AC kept working so we all slept in the living room while we waited for the morning to come to call around for HVAC companies that could come ASAP. HVAC Direct was the first company I contacted and Scott came within an hour of the call and got to work right away. And within an hour he diagnosed and fixed the problem (luckily just a shot capacitor) at what I thought was a reasonable price. Scott was super professional and friendly without being pushy with any additional products to sell. He also checked our other working unit just about of precaution. So grateful he was able to come and fix things so fast on the eve before a long weekend in the midst of a heatwave. Now the previous evening, my husband contacted a large local competitor to check our HVAC system. Technician from local competitor came out and looked out HVAC system, didn't test any components and stated "our compressor was locked & leaking refrigerant and quoted my husband $6k to replace it or we can purchase a brand new HVAC system for $25k!!!" (NOT TRUE!!!). The tech even left our outside power switch unplugged so we couldn't test the system!! SMH!!! We won't contact them for any service ever again nor recommend them to any neighbors, friends and family!!! Joe K, Service Technician at HVAC Direct Heating & Cooling contacted my husband within 20 minutes of him contacting the office the next business day and scheduled a visit that evening. He came out to the house, checked the compressor and quickly diagnosed the capacitor as the problem & replaced it. And Joe K. even showed my husband how he diagnosed the capacitor as the issue NOT the compressor leaking refrigerant as stated by local competitor!! No refrigerant leaking at all!! Compressor in good condition!! In addition, Joe K., checked the wiring, fan, all associated parts and cleaned our a/c unit. No issues at all!! Just some cleaning needed!!! HVAC in excellent working condition AGAIN!!! In addition, he checked our furnace, cleaned some our internal components and showed my husband some DIY things to do to maintain our HVAC system throughout the year!! Amazing work & Professionalism by Joe K!!!! I returned home from business travel to a COOL & COMFORTABLE HOUSE!!! ALL Work completed in an HOUR!!! We also recently discovered Second Chance, which we thought was awesome. So, we were excited when we found out about this place. The amount of wood that they had was amazing! It was a fantastic assortment of different quality kinds of wood, at very reasonable prices! They have a great selection of items that you might need for your home, whether you are remodeling, or just looking to add a few new pieces to your decor. I did not realize until I looked at their website that they have a $10 per year membership fee. However, for the quality of items you get at such amazing prices, it's definitely worth it to support a great non-profit.

Also, they take checks and value privacy;-) Just by looking at their video shorts, I wish that I could make trips there with my children, but "when life gets busy" time flys by. I get a chuckle when I see their staff of 2-4 at a time refer to things I grew up with "as antiques," but I guess they are. Everything is "back in style" every 25+ years, so if it's "Stinkin' Cute" don't be afraid to try it! Their "customer service staff" is delightful and outstanding++ as they have been from the beginning! I could spend hours (as one of their staff members has suggested in a video short), but my family would officially think "I had gone missing". (that's a "joke" in case you've lost your sense of humor these days) As an ex-fed, I'm thankful that I'm a member of the very "inexpensive annual $10 donation of product" team. It breaks my heart when I see people tear up old homes on some, but not all TV Reno shows. The next time my contractor is able to work here, I'm going to recommend that they take all of their "unused but still good materials here". Thankfully, TLD (at 2 N. Kresson St., in Baltimore, MD 21224) sells fantastic products from "what was truly back in the day" at Extra Low Prices. Such a small staff, still running fast.
