So upset to be brining my grandmother the wrong shoe.

I took in a pair of suede loafers to be resoled and was charged $45--which seemed excessive, but okay, I'm willing to pay for a good job. Unfortunately, when I picked up the shoes, they had hardened glue that had oozed out where they attached the soles, and spots of glue on the suede uppers. When I pointed this out and asked for it to be fixed, I was told they didn't have the right "vulcanizing" equipment and that's why I had glue all over. (This was the first time that not having the right equipment was mentioned.) Rather than immediately offering to address the problem, I had to ask them to fix the shoes. Grudgingly, they agreed to try to clean the glue. When I picked the shoes up the second time, there were still glue spots on the uppers. When I pointed this out, I was told by someone I believe to be one of the owners that they had worked really hard to clean the shoes and besides, nobody would get down close and look at my feet anyway. This "mediocre-is-good-enough" attitude made me realize I should just cut my losses and run--which I did. The fact that the shoes were damaged was bad, but the customer service was atrocious. I never received an offer to fix the shoes or an apology for damaging them, much less an offer to discount the cost. This Star is tarnished!

If you are unsure as to what is correct, go to any store that sells men's suits and ask. Better yet, just do a little google search. New suits (mine at least) have plackets long enough so when hemmed they will not look improper. Sewing them shut is simply incorrect and absolutely not a default choice. No one asked him to create new plackets with extra material. I did not ask him for a cheap option, and I told him to take his time. His dismissive response is misleading at best. When questioned the next day, he used measurements to try to convince me why he had no choice but to do what he did, but those numbers did not check out upon verification at home. Technicalities aside, look at the photos, and think of what other pitfalls you as a customer will need to foresee and avoid. I took the jackets to another alteration shop. As it turned out, Alex had cut out the fabric that was originally in the plackets so his mistake could not be reversed. Another unnecessary violation of a basic rule. The other new jacket, however, has been hemmed properly by her the first time, at a cost comparable to what AA+ charged for the improper and oversimplified job.

Until I took a pair of $400 boots in for repair to get the bottom of the heel replaced and a tear stitched. When he quoted me $100 I told him "no thanks" he insisted that it would be worth it and he would have them looking like new. I gave him 2 weeks. My husband picked them up and the tear was still there. Also he replaced the entire bottom sole and heels with these cheap shiny brown soles that did not even match the boots. I took them in today and asked if he could sand the shininess off, he said he'd change the color and have them stitched in an hour. He even let me choose the thread color. I gave him 2 hours and when I went to pick them up he said he could not do anything about the soles and heels and instead of stitching the boots be glued them. He assured me that it would be better and he stands behind his work. I went to try the boots on and could not even get the one he glued, on, once I pried it on they fit funny as if the soles were not lining up with the heels. I cannot even wear them. He told me it was too bad and he was not giving me any money back. He does not stand behind his work Or his word! He was so rude and apparently does not care about repeat business.
