If you don't read any other review, please read this one: Make it Fit Alterations ruined my wedding dress one week before my wedding. I never leave bad reviews, but the nightmare I endured at this shop forces me to share my experience. Almost two months before my wedding, I dropped off my gown for some basic alterations. Namely, hemming the bottom and adjusting the straps. After the second or third fitting, I knew that irreversible damage had been done to my dress. The pictures speak for themselves: I've labeled the pictures accordingly. Their work completely altered the structural integrity of the torso, causing it to stay perpetually wrinkled and choppy. I brought in an elegant dress, and was handed a sloppy one. No amount of steaming or starching could address this (believe me, we tried). They did not know how to work with the material, and were dishonest about their expertise. The worst part is that after the monetary investment I made, I was blamed for the issues with the dress because I "should have known this could happen," despite the fact that I brought my business to them--I am not a seamstress! David, the owner, demonstrated poor customer service skills by raising his voice at us (ladies! Is this how Make It Fit condones treating women?), being rude, dismissive of worries, and interrupting us whenever we tried voicing our concerns. He even had the audacity to say it was obvious this was my "first wedding" due to my "inexperience." Plainly, we endured an offensive amount of disrespect from his behalf. One seamstress, Aracelys, even shared that the person who took my measurements and worked on my dress (Karen) isn't a seamstress. How on Earth are these acceptable business practices for a shop dealing with precious garments on the daily? I was lucky I was able to find another dress to use the day of my wedding, but this whole ordeal should have never happened. I did not get my money back, and I did not get to use my dream dress. I will not use this alterations service again. I was a long-time, good customer of the previous owner. Irina was quirky, but she could work magic. I knew from the try on experience that this was really more of an ordinary alterations place, but that is fine. I left two items to be hemmed (a pair of jeans and a jumpsuit). I was given a lead time of three weeks for the alterations to be complete. That is ludicrous, but the owner said they were busy with weddings. I went to pick up today after 3 pm which was my pick up day and time and THEY WERE STILL WORKING ON THEM. I was told to come back I'm 45 minutes - which I did because my event is the day after tomorrow. When I returned, the alterations were done, but my $500 Ralph Lauren jumpsuit was return to me without even being pressed after the alterations were complete. This made the hem look cheap and amateurish. AND the hem was honestly too long - about a half inch longer than expected BEFORE the press. I think I am going to need to find new shoes tomorrow for the party. Absolutely absurd customer service especially considering the lead time and then having to come back on the day of pickup. I told the owner that this experience did not meet my expectations, and he argued with me that they delivered exactly as he said they would. VERY poor form. I will not be back. read more

I just had the bizarre experience of being 86'ed by the man at the front desk. All I needed was the hem raised on the back of a dress. He told me it would take 2 weeks and I asked the price. He opened the price list, holding it mostly closed so I couldn't see, and quoted $60. $60 and 2 weeks for half a hem!!!! Obviously, he didn't want my business, but I don't know why ... Always listen to your first thoughts about a business...initially I had planned my day with the likes of going to my original seamstress at a totally different business but unfortunately she informed me from a distance she has Covid. So because of my time crunch I started searching for a different location. A friend of mine recommended this location based SOLEY on the work. I work in an industry really big not only customer service but customer experience. It literally talk little to no effort for customer service. So upon meeting David, and he not putting forth any effort whatsoever was very upsetting and disappointing. So arrived pretty early as I stated on the website they opened at 10am. So at 10am the location wasn't open. Around 10:08am after calling and leaving a message , I noticed a woman sitting in front of the business. I approached her and inquired if she was familiar with the place and she said yes,she actually worked there. She was the seamstress. She stated the person was running late obviously and to give him a couple of more minutes. I said okay and we talked a little more before I went back to my car to sit and wait. So around 10:18am, the location finally opened up and I see movement inside. I walked in and David, didn't greet, didn't say a thing until I said Hello. Instead of asking,"How may I help you, I had to initiate why I was there and inform him of what I needed done. All while seeming annoyed as I had bothered him by coming in the establishment for service. While I was explaining to him what I needed, he rudely interrupted me and said,"We don't do that." Not listening, thinking i wanted a "new" collar made when in actuality I needed some mock neck shirts taken in. Only after showing him without making an assumption, then he heard me. Also, informed him I needed pants taken in. So he told me to go into the dressing room. So I did, I came out. He looked at me without any verbal cues and no instructions I wandered over to the area for him to mark the alterations. Dead silence while I'm explaining to him and showing him what I needed. He does the mark up and I go to change. So now he start figuring up the total, and still no verbal communication about what he's doing her just tapping away on his system. He asked for basic info; name, number which I provided. Mind you he had Not even quoted the price. He then says you pay with card or tap to pay. I look at him and said,What exactly are we doing?" He goes, it's for you to pay. I said what am I paying? He then finally shows me the total for the alternations. I said fine. ONLY because I had the interaction with the seamstress prior and she was friendly throughout this ordeal did I proceed. While I was ringing out a white lady entered the store and he perked right up and greeted her. I didn't receive such a luxury from him. I would never recommend this establishment to anyone, including foes. I am really big on customer service and how the first interaction goes a very long way. So this location absolutely failed. I sincerely hope the seamstress finds another place to work in. read more

I brought in a single layer dress to be hemmed about an inch. She was very pushy and wanted $45 upfront. I told her I felt more comfortable paying after I saw the finished product, and she asked if it was because I was unable to pay. I left and felt something was off so I went to get the dress back and she threw it on the counter and went back to the back of the store. I'm now getting it hemmed at another alterations place for $22. She's extremely rude for someone in customer service. I won't be recommending her. read more

I really wanted to like this place, but I brought a pair of pants here to be taken in and hemmed a bit. I paid $80 up front. I picked up the pants and brought them home to try on. They had not been altered in any way whatsoever. I called to ask if I could bring them in to be fixed or get a refund several times and never got a call back. Oh Irina, you truly are the best seamstress, even though you sound vaguely like a Bond villainess. Heracles strengths: Irina REALLY knows what she's doing. I've had her do alterations on everything from military uniforms to bridesmaid dresses, and each time they are done quickly and to my exact specifications. I'd have this lady alter my bridal gown, but that assumes someone out there is dumb enough to marry me, and fortunately, Darwin tends to remove those people from the general population. Her location is easily accessible, and I refer her to all of my friends. Irina also does custom tailoring if you're looking to have some really bitchin' bespoke outfit. What a great find right nearby where I live! Irina hemmed and altered a chiffon / satin bridesmaid's dress for a dear friend of mine who lives outside Atlanta. I offered to hem it myself, but found the fabric too delicate and slippery for my machine. I remembered there was a nearby alterations shop at Briarcliff and LaVista Rd. so stopped by for an estimate. Not only was Irina's quote reasonable, she did a perfect professional job on hemming the dress and making some minor alterations. Plus she had the dress ready ahead of time, so my friend was thrilled. I saw the quality of Irina's work while in the store - she does basic hemming and alterations to men's tailoring and even upholstery. I highly recommend Irina's Alterations and Boutique. I got 3 dresses hemmed and it was way overpriced, $100 for 3 dresses! Then, when I called to pick it up because I didn't realize they weren't open Sunday and I needed the dress that day, they were super rude and told us she was leaving and we can't get our items, even though we already paid for them. Irina, the owner and seamstress, does a fantastic job at not only adjusting the clothing to your body shape, but she also is efficient and cares about customer service. I brought three pairs of yoga leggings to Irina. I called ahead to ask her if she hemmed yoga leggings and she said she did, but I learned there is a distinction between hemming yoga pants and hemming yoga pants correctly. I assumed the former and got back pants that were hemmed without the stretchiness of the fabric in mind (she said she "hemmed them looser", which is not right, you have to have a specific stitch that will accommodate the stretchiness of the fabric). I could barely get my foot in through the leg opening, and some threads popped when I forced it through. She kept insisting she was right, and that the threads won't come undone (so what was the sound of threads breaking when I put them on?!) but to bring them back if they come undone. For $45 ($15/pair), I got an argumentative woman and leggings that I wish I kept the way they were before I brought them in to get altered. read more

Should have done this review a view years ago. She is the best for transforming stuff... pants, tops, dresses, anything you bring. The work is excellent and she (I assume I am dealing with Irina) is lovely and professional and so are all of the women that work with her. Rather than discarding clothing that doesn't fit, I've taken pieces to her. The resulting products look like something purchased from the best stores...probably better. read more

I had two skirts shortened here and both had the stitching start to unravel within less than 10 wears and only 2-3 dry cleaning trips. I sit at a desk all day.
