He appeared to have a lot on his mind...everything except the job at hand. Long story short, he never cleaned up his mess, patched up the walls and baseboard with semi-OK job and then simply said he was done and had to move on. And that's it. I would avoid him big time. Yelpers be warned: if you would like a job done within the next century, don't hire Sheldon. Three weeks ago I hired him to install some roller shades on some windows in a downtown apartment and all I got out of it were some extra holes in my wall and headaches from experiencing weeks of flaky behavior. He came over and attempted to install them for about two hours, making two unnecessary holes in the wall that I will need to fill, and eventually said that additional supplies would be needed because of the metal beams in the walls. That seemed reasonable, and without me even asking how he would like to proceed, he offered to go get the supplies he needed at Home Depot, cover the cost of the steel screws and drill bits he needed to drill into the metal, and meet me back there in two days to finish the job. I'm not sure what happened at this point, but his tone completely changed from here on out, and spoiler alert: he never did come back. When I texted him to see what time worked for him to meet two days later, he then told me he would need money up front for the supplies and I would need to come meet him somewhere to give him some cash so he could go buy them. A) He was supposed to have already gotten the items by this point B) he should have communicated that to me initially or whenever he realized that he wasn't going to be able to front the materials cost (which was about $12) instead of waiting until the Friday we were supposed to meet, and C) it honestly seemed sketchy. From there, it was a saga of hassles to procure the materials and days of unanswered texts that would break Yelp's server if I tried to document it all. If this hadn't been a truly frustrating experience, it might be comical to look back at our mostly one-sided text conversation. He constantly told me he would meet x day to finish the job but when I would text him the day before or day of to confirm before I left work to go meet him, I would get radio silence, sometimes for 2-3 days at a time. At the very least, he could have responded and told me he was too busy to do it at that time instead of not responding for days, or just told me that he wouldn't be able to do the job altogether which would have been fine. When he finally did respond, was he apologetic? Yes, but after multiple rounds of that it was difficult to sympathize. I wanted to see the job through with him because he had already put in time working on it and I wanted to compensate him for the project, but for whatever reason he was not motivated to do the job. After three weeks of the same behavior, I finally called someone from a blind installation company called The Blind Man and they came out the same day and had them installed in 30 minutes for the same price. Lesson learned - you're much better off hiring a professional who knows what they're doing. For what it's worth, I've never written a bad review in my life, but this service was truly deserving of one. read more

Sheldon had Benny Gomez come to our office to do work. For an investor demo Monday, we needed foam panels pasted to plastic boards and then velcro'd to 2x4's. He turned a 3-5 hour job into TWO AND 1/2 DAYS!! My issues: 1. he didn't show up on time. The first two days he was about 3 hrs late, both days. The third day, he was again about 2.5 hrs late, and while we waited, we finished the job for him. He lied about why he was late too. We contact him numerous times and he had a different story every time. 2. He worked extremely slow. He spent most of the time on the phone with his daughter and others. I know because at one point I stood there staring at him, waiting to talk. He finished his call and laughed, "talking to my daughter." Also, he worked right outside my window, must not have realized I could see him wasting time. 3. he had to go to home depot (4 miles from my office) for supplies. I planned ahead and had everything paid for and waiting at customer service, all he had to do was pick it up. he spent 2.5 hrs there!! His excuse was how busy it was, absolutely madhouse busy. He didn't know I had someone else run to home depot during that same time for 2-3 items off the shelf and they were back in 35 minutes. 4. because he was so slow, he delayed our main project two days and caused us to work on Saturday and Sunday. We had to complete his project for him and prepare our own stuff. I hire handymen for jobs often (every two to three weeks) and there are excellent workers out there. These guys, I will AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE~! read more

I used Problem Solved today and was very pleased with their services . Our bathroom sink shattered and needed to be replaced asap . After searching on yelp I came across their business and chose them based on reviews and response time and I and happy to say they were able to come out and fix it right away . We contacted Sheldon to work on gutters that were damaged during a storm. Sheldon agreed to provide the work and assured us he could complete the job in a week timeframe. We issued a check for a deposit on labor to begin work. Sheldon was repeatedly late and would not return our phone calls or emails in a timely manner. After almost three weeks of back and forth contact, he emailed us stating that the job was larger than he anticipated and he would not be able to complete. He promised a full refund for the labor deposit. After a few more weeks and countless requests for a refund, we received a partial refund. It has now been almost 2 full months since he promised the refund, he has stopped responding to emails and phone calls. We are beginning legal action and have contacted the Better Business Bureau about his negligence and fraud. read more

Contacted Sheldon and had a fast response. I wanted someone to paint some rooms for relatives coming into town. I could easily do it myself but time was not in my favor and painting contractors didn't seem available in my timeframe. Spoke to Sheldon on the phone two days ago about some garage shelves I needed hung at my residence. He gave me an estimate on the phone before even seeing the size of these monsters.
