Now that that is out of the way, this is my experience with this horrible business, and even worse owner! I have a 2010 Ford F-150 5.4 V8 Triton. My truck had an exhaust leak, it was horrible, I bought good quality manifolds, gaskets, and the bolts all in a package deal. I took my truck to Ellis Stapleton(owner) of Master Tech Tire and Auto in White Pine, TN. this was a little over a year ago or so around June of 2022, when I first took it in to have the manifolds replaced, first of all the labor time for this job is approximately 6.8 hours for each side, and that's if the bolts don't break off, and additional time is needed to drill out holes, so even if you rounded this up to 8 hours per side, that's roughly 16 hours for both. This shop had my truck approximately 8-10 days. I'm not a math major, but something is off there to begin with. Now to be fair the incompetence of his mechanic at that time actually drilled into a water jacket, overall the job was completed, and the leak was fixed, however at the time of pickup I was told by Ellis the owner about the issue with the water jacket, said it was fixed, but there is a chance it may start leaking again, if so, bring it back and I'll take care of it. So it was probably about 6 months post repair, the leak came back. I contacted Ellis and told him about it, and he says "just bring it back and we'll handle it", I let him know at that time I had tried taking it back up there a few times and the place was locked down tighter than a drum. He asks me when?, because I spoke with my tech, and he said no one has come by. For the sake of not causing a conflict, I just said I would try to take it up there and drop it off. Unfortunately around that time was diagnosed with an illness, and was not able to get it to him. For almost 6-8 months the problem goes unfixed, meanwhile the leak is getting worse, fast forward to February of this year, I wound up having to move to NC for my daughters to help with my recovery from my illness. It has been a while since it was fixed, and yes there has been many miles put on it since it was fixed due to the back and forth hospital visits that had to be done. So just about a month ago, I reached back out to Ellis, and we had made arrangements to get it back to him so he could look at again, but became ill again, and after getting over the illness this time on Tuesday, May the 26th of this month, at 8 a.m., I take my truck to him finally to see about getting it fixed. We spoke that morning, and he asked me when I could bring it and drop it off for him to look t it, I said it's here now, he says I see that but I have 17 appointments ahead of you before I can look at it, and he couldn't possibly get to it until after 5 pm or so, after a few more exchanged words, and not being happy about it, I agreed to take it back around 6 pm drop it off, then wait for him to call me with what he finds out. Dropped it off on Tuesday at 6, he told me he would take a look and let me know something the following day, well, Wed came and left, no response, Thursday came, I waited until around 3:30 or so, and still haven't heard from him, so I call, he answers, I say hey it's Kerry calling about my truck, he responded oh yeah I was just getting ready to call you, he continues to tell me he put it up on the rack, and says it is a gasket failure, nothing we did. Me being upset, reply with so what now? He says well the gasket will have to be replaced, and I said so this is gonna cost me another $500 or so to have redone? His response was yes unless you just want the one side done, then it would only be half of that. Again being pissed about it, but knowing I need it fixed , I asked when he could do it, he say to me well I can't get to it until next week sometime, we agreed for me to bring it back on Wednesday the 5th drop it off, and he would have it done in a couple of days. He brings the truck to me at the hotel I was stuck in because I had no transportation, I sat in my hotel room and this whole situation kept making me more and more pissed off. I made a few phone calls, and Tuesday I took it to a different mechanic in Morristown, TN, Mark from Excel Auto. This owner came out to my truck with a flashlight, and mirror, looked under the hood, crawled under my truck, and about 10-15 minutes later, came out from under the truck and told me that first off there was a bolt missing from the front side of the manifold, that looked like someone had tried drilling out the hole, and didn't finish it, but as it turned out that was the one the tech drilled into the water jacket, now they filled with JB weld and it was good, however he also found another bolt missing on the back side of the manifold on the drop down pipe, and that was where the leak was coming from. There will be an additional post...keep reading
