While driving home from Sevierville, TN to Asheville NC my son and I broke down as we pulled off of the Highway because it stopped running while driving- We managed to get it to the 440 Truck stop down the road from Grooms auto. Roger saw me in my wheelchair outside the SUV as he headed for dinner with his family. Although many kind people stopped along their way tp offer us assistance, we were almost 2 hours from home with no place to go- As Roger came back from dinner my son and I were still there so he stopped ( unknowing that his very patient wife and children were in his truck) and offered to help us. OVER 90 minutes later after jumping us and charging our battery and doing what he could on the roadside he got us to his garage where we left the SUV overnight and was able to have a friend come 2 hours to take us back home. Roger had determined it was the alternator that failed and although Sunday was Father's day his garage spent most of the day and evening fixing my SUV so I could drive it home. The impressive part of all this was- here I am in a strange town in a wheelchair disabled and I couldn't believe how many kind beautiful people stopped to helps us as best as they could without asking for anything in return. I don't think ( since my disability in 2014) have I experienced such hospitality- Someone ( Candace) even offered to put us up for the night- what an INCREDIBLE TOWN- everyone from the 440 Truck stop employee , to the manager of O'Reily's who GAVE US needed Anti-freeze to Roger at Grooms auto repair- He was such an inspiration to my son and I and I can't thank everyone ( especially Roger) for all he did to help one in need- I will never forget him, the experience and even thank Roger's family for being so kind- WE ARE FOREVER IN YOUR DEBT and thank you from the bottom of my heart- What a beautiful town and experience THANK YOU SO MUCH TO ALL INVOLVED- Roger ..I personally was touched by your honesty, integrity and humor in all this- you made me feel safe, taken care of and valued as a human being- I can't thank you enough Sincerely- Donna Ramsey from Asheville NC read more

On June 06, 2022, the family and I traveled from Ohio to Newport, TN., to visit family and rent a cabin near there, and it so happened that I had to park on an incline. I decided to set my parking brake, which I seldom use in Ohio... and immediately I notice that once I pushed on the parking brake, there was no tension... and the parking brake wasn't holding. Then upon activating the release, the parking brake light remained on... but the brakes did not appear to be dragging. On the morning of June 07, 2022, I called several repair shops in the area in an attempt to have it repaired, but unfortunately, most of them were too busy to work with me. So, I decided to try one more call... the name of the shop was Grooms Auto (423) 608-3497, located at 1865 Highway 73, Newport, TN. The mechanic that I spoke with suggested that I stop by his shop around 4:30 PM and he will take a look at it, and if required order the parts and fix it the next day. I arrived at 4:30 PM, and the mechanic crawled under my Dodge Ram 4 X 4 and pulled on the parking brake cable assembly which quickly corrected the parking brake light on the dash. He suggested that upon my return to Ohio, I should have my mechanic take a look at it... and informed me that the parking brake must be frozen up... but didn't appear to be dragging. I asked the mechanic what do I owe him, and he replied nothing... he is just glad to help. I informed the mechanic upon my return to Ohio, that I'd like to write a nice review about their repair shop... and he thanked me and I left. The mechanic was very polite... and took the time to explain to me what was probably causing the problem. I was in Newport Tennessee last Saturday dropping off my daughter. Leaving Newport I made it to exit 451 of interstate 40 and my water pump seized up. I called Roger and he was there with his tow truck in 45 minutes. He towed me back to his shop and got right on the repair. He and his assistant were fast, thorough, friendly, and incredibly low priced. I would highly recommend Roger if you're in the area and need any auto repair work.
