My friends and I were traveling in this area when her car's check engine light started flashing and her car started shaking. We went to an AutoZone who recommended them but there were no guarantees it would get done that day since it was a Sunday and they were the only place open. They are located at the end of a neighborhood and were servicing 4-5 customers before us, but they were able to get to it that day. Turns out, it was a rats nest in my friends car and they were chewing on various connectors that were causing misfires. While it was such a random occurrence and a bad situation, this mechanic was very friendly and quoted extremely fair prices to resolve her issues. The prices were much fairer than anything I've seen in my own mechanic, and they work very quickly. They were able to clear out the nest that same day and are just waiting to get some parts when the dealership opens today. Overall, great service!! read more

I was vacationing in Gatlingburg and Monday April 27,2026 late in the afternoon, I was in the Cove and my car's engine light came on and my dashboard was showing traction off and reduced power. I made it out of the Cove and stopped in Townsend trying to decide what I needed to do. I finally decided to try to make it back to Gatlingburg which I did. On Tuesday morning I got up and drove to Pigeon Forge and had a diagnostic done at O'Reilly which showed it was Coil F which means Coil 6. I then decided to get a second reading so went to Auto Zone and they got the same reading. A guy there then recommended and gave me a card for Carr's. In the mean time I had called my local mechanic from 3 hrs away and sent him the readings from both places which was identical. It said it sounded like he was probably mis firing which the guy at Auto Zone had also said. He advised me to try to get it fixed even though he was worried that some one would take advantage of me since I was a woman alone and from out of town. I called Carr's to see if they couldn't could help me. They said yes, but they probably wouldn't be able to get it done That afternoon, it would probably be the next day. I took my car there arriving approx 2:00 pm April 28th. I was astounded by one of the wrecker guy that was at the front was mouthing about how sorry one of their competitor wreckers were and how slow they were. I didn't like that. It was so unprofessional. The girl at the front desk took my info and even took us to get a rental car. She was very nice. After getting the rental we headed for the mountains thinking it would be the next day before we head from them. We were at this point without phone service. When we got phone service it was 5:05pm and I saw we had received a voice mail at 3:11 pm that the car was ready. I was shocked. Needless to say they were closed until 8:00 am the next Morning April 28th. At 8:05 I called to make sure the car was ready and it was. I went to pick it up and even though I was shocked at the high cost I paid and we left. We trustingly thought everything would be fine. We went towards the mountains again and drove only 20 to 25 miles and the same diagnostics appeared again. I was so frustrated and got to thinking that wait a minute!! They charged me for three hours labor and it was only an hour and 15 minute between the time is left my car and the time they called me back. There was no way they worked on it 3 hours. Plus they had charged me $130 for a a coil that cost $109. I called to tell them my car was not fixed and it had the same diagnostic they claimed to have fixed. That they had stolen from me once but they would not get another chance to. They made no comment. My ticket they gave me showed they had put a number 6 coil on. I just took it easy and made it back home to my mechanic. He checked everything out and They had not put a #6 coil on. They had moved the #2 and put a Coil on the #4. He said what they did could have been done in 5 minutes. Why the even messed with the #2 & #4 we do not know. Please don't trust you vehicle or money to these crooks. They are unreliable. My car is now fixed correctly and running perfect at a cost of little more than a $100. read more

Told they would call us for 3 days I never heard from them I called up there and they told me my car was on the lift but upon arrival my car was off to the side apart with no diagnostics. When they were putting it together the mechanic was rude told me I didn't have to watch him work, well if you weren't doing anything sketchy why does it matter? Having vehicle issues was not in my vacation plans, but the day we were checking out of our resort my SUV would not crank and was making a terrible noise. We called Carr's and they could immediately get us in- we were so lucky they even had a nice rental van available for us to use while they worked on ours. Needed to get back on the road shortly - called and they gave me a time after lunch, so we enjoyed a pizza just around the corner and then brought it right over and they took it real quickly. I am a single mom in town with my little boy. My battery started going dead, and my car didn't want to start in the cold temps. I went to Advanced Auto where they tested my battery and confirmed I needed a new one. But, they wouldn't place a new battery in my car. They recommend Carr's. I called and they fit me straight in! I was in and out in 30 minutes with a new battery! Prices are reasonable. But most of all, I was a worried mom. I was worried my little boy and I would end up stranded with a ruined vacation. Carr's Auto Service impressed me today! We had trouble coming into town Friday night. Our charging system light came on while we were still on the Foothills Parkway. As soon as we got into Townsend and got service we called an auto parts store in Pigeon Forge since that's where we were headed. We figured out alternator was going out. They recommended Carr's Auto Service. My husband called, and although It was after hours, someone answered. He told us to drive the car to them Saturday morning at 8:30 and they would get us fixed up and back on the road. We were not sure if the car would crank Saturday morning, but he explained they would tow it if need be. Saturday morning comes and the car cranked. Thankfully Carr's was literally only a mile from our cabin. My husband and son drove it too them and by the time they got there other systems were shutting down and there was now three service lights on. Carr's was short handed and very busy but they took time to drive my husband and son back to our cabin. They fixed the vehicle by 2pm and called us. They agreed to come get us as soon as they had a free person and was at our cabin by 3pm. These folks went above and beyond to help tourist and it was much appreciated! We were vacationing in the Smoky Mountains when a DEF service system before limp mode came on well anyone with a Diesel knows this can be a huge problem. We called several dealers with no luck so my husband bought the injector (lucky to find the part) to change it out but the bolts were rusted. He didn't want to risk breaking them so called around on a Saturday to find a shop that could do it and do it before we headed home on Monday. Carr's came through for us! Our family was on vacation and had a issue with a leaking fuel line on our car it's always scary when on the road and not knowing where to find a decent shop to get your vehicle in. We called them and explained what we needed and they got us in and managed to fix our issue to get us back home. Not only did they do what needed they offered to give us a ride into town to have something to do while doing the work and had to make a part to work considering the exact part we needed is on backorder until October. We were very happy with the repairs to our RV that were made by Carrs. We were concerned how much of our vacation time would be wasted-but they took care of it straight away! They did a very professional job and they work very quickly. Really reasonable-- I would highly recommend them to you. One tip is that they were difficult to find until we put the intersection in from the business card we had versus the address -we were using a Garmin GPS. You go through nice neighborhoods and then it gets more rural and super rustic, this is the right area. Only reason to go to this repair shop is if you like fixing other people's mistakes. They replaced alternator and completely left off 1 of the 2 bolts attaching the alternator to the engine. Disconnected A/C lines for no reason and then didn't put the o-rings back on the connections. Had to take the car to a shop when I got home to fix A/C, had to replace the alternator bolt on my own with my car out of commission for 3 days waiting on part. It's pretty basic...if you take a bolt or o-ring off of a car when you're replacing something, you make damn sure that it's back on when you're done. read more

RIP OFF! RIP OFF! RIP OFF! Do not go here if you want to teach your child the responsibility of finding a mechanic they can trust on their own. They will be taken advantage of. My daughter's car broke down on the road with radiator issues. She googled tow companies and came up with Carr's Auto Service. They advertised towing and repair, and a family owned business since 1981. She had her car towed there and repaired. They replace the radiator with a new radiator that should've been under warranty. They also advertised that air-conditioning is their specialty so she asked them to look at the air and they replaced the air compressor. The charge for the services was $1200. I felt proud of my child for making her own decisions and getting the job done. Unfortunately within a week the car had lost fluid from the transmission for some reason. She was informed that this was occurring because the connections were loose. After having the connections tightened and replacing the fluid she continue to drive the car until she had another issue with the radiator while driving. When she pulled over and opened the hood she could see a bolt from the air compressor had shot out and put a hole in the brand new radiator which was under warranty. So not only did they leave the connections loose, the bolt on the air compressor was not tightened properly. She again called Carr's and for the second time in two weeks had to have the car towed to their facility. The next day Carr's told her that she again needed a new radiator and nothing about the air compressor. Obviously they were positioning themselves for further repairs. Having then become very upset over spending $1200 to repair both her radiator and air conditioner, and now having a radiator that doesn't work and an air compressor not properly installed we contacted Carr's and attempted to get information on the warranty for a brand new radiator that was a week old. Not only did Carr's not back up the warrantee on a brand new product that they overcharged her for and did not install properly, they would not provide the family with information as to whether it was a brand new product, where the product was purchased and how we could use the warranty. This led us to believe that Carr's did not provide a new radiator as they had told us. They informed her that the warrantee was invalid due to her actions and not as a result of their installation ineptitude. The car had to be towed from Carr's to another facility. Yes the product was new but Carr's refuses to spend any time repairing a job they screwed up. $2000 later a $400 job is done properly but not by these crooks. Tell everyone you know that this place is a rip off and should be run out of business today. read more

While on vacation in Gatlinburg, ran into some vehicle trouble and thought we needed a jump, contacted USAA and they sent Shawn from Carr's out immediately. We found out the battery was very dead and thought it may be the alternator. Shawn loaded up the car and proceeded to their shop. They wanted to take a look at it, got us a very inexpensive and serviceable rental vehicle so as to not miss out on the area. The next day, we got the vehicle back and the good news was it was just a very dead battery. The cost was very low as they worked with us and did not charge us for erroneous stuff and the rental was a very agreeable price. The fact that they are open 7-days a week is also worth its weight in gold. read more

Our car broke down on our way out of pigeon forge after vacation, but wasn't showing any codes. We called several mechanics in the area and Carr's was the only one open with an available bay that day. The wait was fairly long, but that is likely just because the area is so busy. They initially replaced our alternator, and when that ended up being not the issue and we broke down again right down the road, they towed back at no cost. By this point the check engine light had come on and they could check the code, so they replaced our crank shaft position censor, only charging us the cost of the part. My husband is a mechanic by trade and agrees that this was handled exactly as he would have and was also pleased with the service we received. Rate was $75 hour for labor, which is fair for the area and quality of work. Staff was friendly and helped make a horrible day more bearable. read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would! This place is great if you want to be misquoted costs 4 times in the span of a few hours. The price grows over time! I called last night they said $75 for plugs and wires, well I take it there this morning then they said $128. I agreed on that price and left my vehicle. After 5 hours they call and say they misquoted again! Now it's $328!!! Then told $300!? We finally had to pick up our vehicle and take it somewhere else to completely start over. Other local shops quoted $150 and said it would only take 2 hours MAX! We were just getting a tune up! It's not even a difficult task! Our rental car broke down while driving through the Great Smokey Mountains. Our tow was supposed to arrive within 90 min, it took them over 7 hours to arrive. We ended up having to leave the Jeep on the side of the road in the park because we couldn't wait there all day. Although Carr's told us that it was fine to leave it, we were really worried that it would get stolen especially given that it was a push start vehicle and we had to leave the keys inside. We kept calling to check in on the status of the tow and every time, they provided no information and were incredibly rude. I finally got information when I called the park ranger and they told me that Carr's had just contacted them to get the Jeep. Finally, over 8 hours later, the tow company contacted us and told us they had the vehicle. It was very stressful and I do not recommend Carr's for towing services. read more

Was in town from Florida. Our car had died on the other side of the smoky mountains. We were towed over the mountains to Carr's auto service. We arrived at around 8 o'clock at night and were able to rent a car from them for $40 to get us to our hotel for the night. They had our car up and running just after lunch the next day. The customer service was excellent. Rates were average but for the time frame the car was returned to us was excellent! Hope I never need their service again, BUT, if we are in the area, and I do, I would return to them in a heart beat. read more

The old man that answered the phone was rude and very unprofessional, I called roadside at 9:30am and at 1:45 they still hadn't showed up. I finally called roadside and cancelled the order. It was ridiculous, I was having my truck towed to their lot so I had my brother meet me there with the part and he saw 4 tow trucks sitting on the lot but none of them moved. They didn't fix my truck and never stood behind their work when I called them. My truck broke down in the national park they had one of their wreckers town it in which they did a good job towing it but when they got it to their shop they put a $389 fuel pump in it and the total bill was $837 I drove the truck back to indiana and when I got home the truck did the same thing it ended up being a fuel sensor that was a $150 part I called them and they said that they weren't going to do anything about it.I think if you want them to guess what the problem is then take it to them they will put parts on you don't need and charge you dearly. read more

This place took 12 weeks to replace my transmission & today after taking my car to another garage for a water pump replacement I have found out these things 1) my lower fan cover is now missing (as well as my brake fluid cap) 2) my transmission is missing bolts 3) the transmission is leaking 4) gaskets need replaced. That is all that happened to be found just looking over my blazer. I paid $1800 I have the receipt that shows fluid seals & gaskets were charged being replaced but nothing about these missing parts! Today son's vehicle was impounded quite unnecessarily by this hometown outfit in their muddy impound/auto repair lot. Apparently parked for a mere 40 minutes at the nearby KOA campground on Veterans Boulevard in Pigeon Forge openly in front of their office while visiting a friend, was sufficient reason for the confiscation. After contacting Carr's Wrecker Service immediately upon returning after finding out what had occurred, they assured him that they had permission from the KOA campground because on the excuse his vehicle looked suspicious. But based on the circumstances they most likely would be lenient with the towing. Not so! Taken only 8 miles to their lot, they charged him an outrageous $175.00, basically almost a week salary for him. Additionally because we asked too many questions about the matter, Jim Carr the owner, became belligerent and disrespectful and told my son they would only take cash for the bill and wouldn't take a credit card. More vindictiveness and a complete lack of professionalism. Based on our experience with them and also other posted reviews, I would stay clear of them along with their other businesses. read more
