Shop was clean, staff was friendly, and I ended up walking out with exactly what I wanted. $20 for a regular polish fill plus the few dollars they charge for your file kit. Pro Solar Nails is clean, the massage chair was nice, service was overall friendly, but I had a few negatives that would lead to me trying somewhere else. Nail and feet scrubbing supplies not included in the actual price of the pedicure so bring your own or pay an extra $3. I guess that would be nice for regulars and for not wasting, but if you're passing through it's kind of weird. (After talking to a friend of mine who has been to places where this is common practice - maybe it's not so weird - just new to me). The foot/leg massage that's part of the pedi did not have ANY 'umph' behind it. When I pointed out that the tip of my big toe was missing polish I was told it was the lighting - but it was fixed right before my eyes. read more

Having recently relocated from San Francisco to Bend, I'm used to getting manicures and pedicures every other week and not paying a lot for them. When I arrived in Bend, I was in for a shock. I read all the reviews on Yelp and was horrified at so many bad ones. After trying several salons, east side, west side, downtown, you name it, a friend turned me on to Pro Solar Nails. This place is just as good as my favorite salon back home and just about the same price. Everyone is super friendly. They play smooth jams (I love listening to Phil Collins while getting my nails done). They have a decent selection of colors although I tend to bring my own - just so I don't have to search for what I want. It's in the Albertsons strip mall and looks kind of nondescript from the outside. The place is big, clean and they have an amazing salt water aquarium - so you can chat with your technician or just watch the fish. Sue is really great, fast and friendly. And she gives an amazing foot and leg massage. If you're looking for a great salon at a reasonable price, this is the place. read more

You might want to think twice before spending $ here. I've been three times and while they're kind & accommodating the work is not worth the price. I've had nails for 25 + years & decided to give them a try because they were close to my house. My first time in was pretty good with most nails making it to almost 2 weeks. The second visit 3 of my nails broke within 2 days...I went back on day three for them to fix the nails and the owner acted like she was doing me a favor by not charging me. Really?? We chose this salon because of the many positive reviews. The place was clean and very busy which is typically a good sign with a nail salon. We had reservations for mani and pedi services and were asked to wait 20 minutes before our service started. That should have been the first red flag but we gave them the benefit of a doubt. We were informed that the website hasn't been updated in about 5 years and that all of the prices were different (more). I have sensitive feet during the nail filing process and instead of being gentle, imagine having your food braced against the side of the foot spa to the point of immobilization, so that your nails can be grated away with the ferver of a log starved beaver. Much to my dismay, the shredding continued as my heels were attacked with an antiquated tool resembling my grandmothers old cheese grater. When I pointed out to my torture mate that my ankle bone was bleeding as a result of my attack, rather than slow down or offer an apology, the look of disgust on the workers face literally left me in shock. Without a word, the scrunched up face simply grabbed a bottle and began spraying my down. As my ankle lit on fire, it occurred to me that I was being doused with rubbing alcohol. Why she stopped before rubbing some salt in is betond me. The artwork was an issue, every toe was "extra" for any new design and the difference between standard polish and shellac was $20 more. If you're wanting to be hearded like cattle, hacked away at like a machete to weeds, and end up with bumblebees that look like they were resurrected from the previous summer, this is your place. read more

I thought I found a nail salon I could stay with. The shop is clean and the deluxe pedi is very nice. But then I was 10 minutes late for an appointment one time and came on the wrong day for an appointment another time. When Kim told me she couldn't serve me BUT took a walk-in right in front of me, I spoke up and told her there are times we customers wait for them when they are behind schedule, she did not like that. They served me but spoke about me in Vietnamese. Kim told the lady not to offer me the deluxe pedi. And when I asked if she had time to tint my brows the male nail tech next to me said in English, "I have time, I will burn your brows off." True story! Kim is phony nice! And I hate when they don't speak English and talk about us in their language. Very rude. read more

I was in Bend from out of town and needed a mani pedi. All other places were booked, and this was the only place I could get an appointment. The color choices were lacking. The person who did my nails, hurt me when she cut my big toenails. I don't think the utensils were sanitized. The polish job on my fingernails was horrible. I had to go to Ulta afterwards to get polish and remover. I had to take everything off and do it over myself. This was a waste of money. read more

My Mom and I are definite REGULARS at Pro Solar! We LOVE Kim and Ben. They always do a good job and know how to keep the conversation flowing, even with the obvious language barrier. And none of that awkward "We're secretly judging you and your nails" under their masks like most nail salons. Great place, great owners, and the most adorable Nemo themed fish tank! Not gonna lie. It's located in a slightly sketchy area, but when you walk inside, talk about judging from the outside! It's very nicely decorated and cozy. A word of caution: Last week I went to Solar Nails to get a manicure for a special event. I virtually never get a manicure, so am admittedly a novice. Upon entering I was asked if I wanted a regular manicure or shellac. I said I didn't know the difference and was told only that shellac lasts longer, which seemed like a good idea, so I agreed to the shellac and was asked to pick a color. After my manicure I proceeded to the front of the salon (where the light was much better) to pay, and discovered I did not like the color I'd chosen... my own fault and not a big deal, but while paying I asked what type of polish remover I should use to remove the polish at home. I was told I could not remove it myself and would need to return (appointment only) and have them remove it (for $10 more). A week later I returned for the removal... a very big mistake relying on these so called 'professionals' to remove the polish rather than doing an internet research on how to do so myself! The gentleman did the removal very, very hurriedly, using a 'drummel' type tool to grind off the polish, no presoaking, no follow-up care even though he caused a bleeding cuticle for which there was no apology. I was left with very damaged nails and nail beds, and was asked only to wash my hands and pay my $10, which I did so pleasantly, though feeling very concerned about the carnage of my nails which will take months to recover. Admittedly, I am partly to blame for depending on these so-called 'professionals' rather than researching shellac removal before, instead of after, my return to Solar Nails for this treatment. But I strongly feel they should have offered some information about shellac! If I'd known then what I know now, I'd never have chosen it in the first place! I will not return to this salon, or have shellac again for that matter. Please do your research about manicures before going here because they will take your money and offer you no information. Like me, you will have no one to blame but yourself when your visit results in damaged nails. read more

Beware if you have gel polish over acrylic nails. Owner would not allow nail tech to use base coat therefore gel polish chipped and peeled off. Had three nails repaired and they did same thing after only one day. Would not go back. read more
