Hector Jr was fantastic in replacing my water heater this morning. He was extremely responsible via text on a Sunday! Once he arrived he was kind and patient with my questions. Extremely communicative regarding every step and also agreed to FaceTime with my sister who is way more knowledgeable about this stuff than me. Highly recommend the Pro Rooter team! Thank you Jessie for the referral. Thank you Hector Jr for the VIP service and workmanship! read more

Hector and his crew were great from the first visit, in communication and exceeded our expectations all around. They got all the paperwork sorted with the city and sanitation. They let us know the day before and arrived on time. Hector is so knowledgeable and didn't hesitate to let us know what they were doing, how long it would take and answered all our questions generously. The process (new mainline installed to the street) was completed earlier than we expected. The job pricing was so reasonable compared to some insane quotes that we received from other companies and contractors. We HIGHLY recommend this company to anyone. I am excited to refer them to family and friends, especially in this area. Many Thanks! read more

Pro Rooter repiped my house a few years ago. Since then I have developed pipe hammering with the water running or drawing from the water heater .. super annoying I called the lead Plummer that was on my job those few years ago and he answered the phone confirming he was still with Pro Rooter. I explained to him what I had going on and texted him some short videos of the pipe hammering. He stopped texting and stopped answering my calls and texts for some reason. I texted a final message just to ask for his professional opinion on even a DYI on my end --- no response. I subsequently called the Pro Rooter office in Hayward to ask them to have a plumber call me maybe to arrange a fix or even advice. The admin lady said she would have a plumber call me. --- this is a few weeks later ... nothing ... Maybe they don't do smaller jobs, and that is okay. But how can I refer the company now with that type of response? I can't Certainly Disappointing read more

I see a LOT of Hector visits where he never shows up. he did this to me as well and never even bothered to call or text after actually saying he would be at the house. meanwhile I am not trying to find anyone else, because I trust a man at his word, but never again with this crappy company. If he doesn't own the place, why would the owner keep him when he blows customers off so regularly? Worst plumber ever and prepare to get overcharged if he does show up. read more

This guy Hector scheduled two appointments with me, first time never show. Then Daisey on second time, she scheduled for him to come out again. Appointment was at 5...no show, then I called him at like 5:30, he said he was on the way as he was wrapping up in Castro Valley . No call again & Never show up! He then had the nerves to text me few days later and asked if he can come out to provide a quote. Why would I want to do business with someone who is so unprofessional and doesn't respect people's time? They over booked their appointments and plumbers have no decency to update customers when they can't make it. I would not do business with these guys. read more

Chillo was the contractor for Pro Rooter. They were supposed to replace all galvanized pipe. Which they did not do! to the tune of $5900.00 Replace drain lines under the house under to put abs plastic pipe and new p traps. $2900.00. They did not do! I have been told they did not do the work to the street. And It needs to be replaced Replace shower faucets in both tub and shower. $800.00. They did do this. Total cost was $9600.00 This is for my friend who does not have a computer She has had two different plumbers who said nothing was done One could not decide on a estimate the other charged her $15000.00. She called Pro Rooter and they told her the work was done. and they did not need to replace anything, they said this to her face. She is on a warranty. But they would not help her. read more

Having received a water bill of over $800 I realized there must be a leak. And in fact I had an emergency main water leak. Pro Rooter said they would be at my house at 9 am and at 8:55 am they rang my door bell. So 5 stars for being on time. Richard Reyes the senior supervisor quickly diagnosed the issue and explained everything to me. It was a very serious main line break. The crew got to work immediately and worked hard from 9 am till past 4 pm. They had to dig my front yard up to get to the pipes but Richard explained it was the best route to take. Richard and his crew worked tirelessly to get my leak fixed and my water back on. I am extremely pleased with their professionalism, work ethic and overall just a great team effort. When they were done everything was put back together with the trench filled in and everything perfect. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Richard and Pro Rooter & Plumbing for any of your plumbing needs. Excellent work. Thank you Richard and team. read more

Made an appointment for Friday with Hector, he asked me to call him on Thursday to remind him. I called him and it was a go for Friday. I got there at 11am and at 11:40 I texted him to find out when he was going to arrive. At 12:10 I called and left a message and told him that I was leaving and that would be would have to reschedule. And I never heard from them again. Definitely would not recommend using them. read more

These guys are fantastic. We had two other very high end and experienced plumbers come in to try to fix a blockage, both failed! Then we called Pro Rooter and within 20 minutes of arriving they had fixed the issue. Ask for Chilo! He is an expert and succeeds where others fail. read more

We are very impressed with Pro Rooter. We worked with Hector and his crew for a large job. We needed our house main (lateral) completely replaced both outside the house to the street main and under the house in the crawlspace. We received several bids but chose to go with Hector since he was able to solve our earlier sewer backup and is licensed. He has all his own equipment and didn't subcontract any part of the job. We are very impressed with his attention to detail and quality of work, after cleanup the yard looks great as well as the street. Definitely recommend Hector and his crew for any job requiring some serious work. read more

The guy Chilo came because we had asked to fix a sewage drain caused by roots and dirt stuck in the storm drain for years caused by the previous house owner. We agreed on a $300 since the pipe went straight, but at the end he asked for $400 even though spent a total of an hour cleaning the pipes. The worst part is after he left it was still clogged with a bunch of roots throughout the pipe that we had to get out ourselves. Before he left, he also misinformed us about a misalignment in the pipes and asked us if we wanted to fix it for $900. We opened it up ourselves to find out that there was no misalignment but a bunch of roots clogged that was causing what he though was the misalignment. That was a total scam. Would not recommend that guy. read more

We live in an Eichler in Castro Valley and had a major backup in the sewer line from the kitchen and laundry room. The first plumber that we called got his snake stuck in the drain and could not get it out. Hector from Pro Rooter came out on a Friday night to help solve the problem. He spent about an hour and a half working on the problem and discovered that there was a large break in the sewer line that runs under the concrete slab. The line had to be replaced. Instead of cutting through the slab we decided to reroute the line to the outside of the house and across the driveway to connect to the main line. Hector and his crew are very skilled and they did an excellent job. I would recommend Pro Rooter for large or small jobs. read more

Hector and his guys did a sewer lateral replacement for us. They were unable to do trenchless because of the slope of our existing line. They did a great job doing regular trenched line to the center of the street. The inspector was impressed with their work as were we. No one wants to spend money on a new sewer line, but when you need one call Hector. read more

I've used Pro Rooter 3 times. I met Hector 2 years ago and was struck by his personable and professional manner. My fixer needed a sewer line repaired and under the house pipe work that was done poorly by another general contractor. I found Pro Rooter's bid to be very in line with and actually below other Handymen's quotes. Both jobs were tough and dirty, but the guys were quick, thorough and tidy. Finally, my house no longer 'leaks':) As I worked with Hector and his guys in diagnosing and pricing my plumbing issues, I never told them of my 25 yrs experience as a business unit manager, negotiating contracts with maintenance vendors for Fortune 50 companies. To most, I appear as woman who lives alone with only a cat. And not once did Pro Rooter disappoint me in the bids quoted and the work they performed. I will highly recommend them to all my friends in the bay area. Jennifer read more

Update: 05/2018, Just had Richard come this weekend to fix our kitchen sick again. Ten thousand stars for these guys, they are always efficient, professional, and so nice! First review: I highly recommend Richard and his plumbing company. Our bathroom sink got blocked the Monday before Thanksgiving. I let my landlord know that afternoon, but because it was a short week, I didn't expect to hear from anyone until the following Monday. Richard got in touch Tuesday and was willing to come out that night (I couldn't due to my schedule) and even the Wednesday before Thanksgiving! I did not want to make him come out on a day my own work had given me off, but today, the Friday after Thanksgiving, he was here with prompt, courteous service. He fixed our sink in no time, left no mess behind, put things back afterwards. Great customer service and skill level. read more

I wish I could give them zero stars. I called at 11pm to schedule an appointment for 7am. They confirmed and the appointment was set. 7:30 am and still no plumber. I called and all they told me was, he's on his way. No one ever called to give me an update. And no one showed up untill 8:30. These people are VERY unprofessional. Family run and no one is held accountable. Do not use this company. Only the dispatch woman was nice. read more

I am writing to complain Pro Rooter Plumbing. I had really bad experiences with them. I believe they did not do business honestly but just want to charge more money from customer. My toilet cannot flush on Feb.3 and I have to call plumber to fix it. I chose Pro Rooter from a phone book. The owner told me on the phone:if it is a small problem it cost $95 or $125 if the plumber has to remove the toilet. The plumber finally came to my house. He just have a look and did not do anything and told me I have to pay $125 for this.I agreed. After few minutes (he did not remove the toilet yet) and he said there is something he need to do that have to cost another 60 dollers.I told him that the price he charged me is different from the owner told me on the phone. He is a little bit scared and said $150 for all things. As it is a emergency situation and I agreed. He removed the toilet and fixed it. Later on I recalled what he did and I realized there is something wrong. This plumber, whom name is Chilo, did not do business honestly. My toilet is a small problem and not necessaty to remove it. He unnecessarily removed the toilet for charging me $30 more.He is even not satisfied for charging me $30 more he want the total price is $150 ( which is another $25 more). I told him again this price is not the owner told me on the phone. He still gave me lots of excuses to charge me more. Stay away from those bad guys. They are cheaters. They just want to make more money from customers. They charged me more money which is not reasonable. read more

I had very bad experience with this guy. They advertised everywhere and sounds like professional, but actually this company does not get work done well (not knowledgeable) and does not care customers. I had a pipe leak from a connector. I call them up and a guy came over to my house at evening. he said he need to change the pipe connector and charged for $500. Since I wanted to get it fixed asap, I still paid him a good price even it's not asking price. He said he would warrant his work for 90days. He fixed it and then left. After one week, i found my water pressure is very low, I knew something was wrong. The connector this guy put on was loosed and water sprayed out with big leak. I turned my home water off and called this guy again, he said he was busy and he could sent another guy here if i wanted to. Of cause, i need to get it fixed immediately so that I can have water. Another guy came, and he said he need change all my pipe outside the house to cooper from PVC even without checking pipe connector leak problem. He asked $2000 to get it done. I told him that it's no need to change whole pipe, just wanted to fix the connector. He said he did not want just fix the connector problem. Then he left. I called first guy again and wanted him come back to fix the problem. He said he would come back tomorrow at 9am. Sounds reasonable. Next day I was wait until 10 am, he did not show up. I ringed him and he said he could not come today (he played game). Then I called his company and want to talk to his manager, i was told manager is not available and will call me back if i left message. ....(.after a few times calls, i never get mamager call back so far). Anyway, I just keep call this guy and wait at home without going work. He finally come over again, he said need to broken my driveway and cut part of the PVC and replaced to cooper. I was hesitated to do this. He said he would not come back again if I did not do this. So, I let him do whatever he could to fix problem. After he done, he asked me to pay another $500. Oh man, raping people off. I told him it is still under warrantee and it is the same problem he worked on. He started to yell me on the street. I did not like to fight anyone on street and it's so ugly thing. I paid him more than half what he asked for to end this unhappy situation. After he left, I followed his instruction to wait for 8 hrs to turn the water on. You know what, there is still small leak with the copper pipe he put on. I called him and his company again....this time i was not at home when this guy fix this leaking. what a bad experience? Just changing a connector, I paid a big price with so bad experience. STAY AWAY FROM PRO ROOTER INC. Pro Rooter just want to get money and run away. I called many times to the company and wanted to talk to a manager regard to this issue and never got a call back. I may report to BBB and let people know PRO ROOTER has no reputations. read more

OUTSTANDING - ALL AROUND A couple of years ago, we had a major plumbing "back-up", both baths and toilets in our 46 year-old home. We called a couple of plumbing companies in the East Bay but the only ONE company could come out and give us an estimate that same day: PRO-ROOTER on American Ave in Hayward. Hector of Pro Rooter arrived on time; diagnosed the problem and recommended we put in a "clean out" in an easily accessible area, in order to get the job done efficiently and in a timely manner. Hector did an excellent job, overall. He was courteous, efficient, clean and left everything in good order. Last June, our daughter's home in the Oakland hills had a horrific sewer issue. Once again, we called Pro-Rooter. Hector and his crew came out and re-piped a large section of the sewer. Have not had any problems, since. We do not hesitate to recommend Hector of Pro-Rooter to family and friends, because of his sound ethics, excellent work and fair price points. P.S. This business has moved from Hayward. They are now located at 438 San Leandro Blvd in San Leandro. read more

Richard at Pro Rooter did an excellent job! He arrived on time, just 2 hours after I had called for service. He installed a new toilet, removed the old toilet, and fixed a leaky valve. He charged exactly what had been quoted. His demeanor was pleasant and professional. He completed the job quickly with attention to detail. He took the time to clean up after himself too. The toilet and valve have been working very well now. He gave us his card and encouraged us to call if we had any questions. We called him within an hour of his leaving our house regarding the water fill line in our toilet tank. True to form, he answered our question courteously with unwavering professionalism. The next day we called the toilet manufacturer and they verified his response. Couldn't be happier! Will definitely call Pro Rooter for plumbing help again! read more

Pro Rooter replaced our entire sewer line from the house to the street. We received a very decent estimate and price that they stuck to, they showed up when they said they would and finished they job in one day from 9am to 5pm. The Pro Rooter estimator showed up with a camera system to check our line and showed us the issues as part of their free estimate. No other service brought a camera with them to check our line before they provided an estimate. Pro Rooter used the 'trench-less' plastic pipe replacement system and saved us thousands of dollars in doing so. Pro Rooter was very good about keeping the property clean and cleaning up the job site before they left. Pro Rooter also cleaned out an adjacent pipe for no extra charge to make sure everything was in good working order. We will recommend Pro Rooter to our friends and neighbors and offered to be a referral to their business. read more

Pro Rooter has helped me several times over the years and although calling a plumber...any plumber is expensive, Ely did very good work and was always very courteous. I don't feel that they were over-priced as compared to the quality of work. Ely and his crew actually did a large job for me which involved replacing a length of sewer pipe in my front yard. It was a big job but they were prompt, polite, reasonable and they cleaned up the mess afterwards. I have no complaints and will recommend them to anyone. read more

We had a hot water plumbing leak under the concrete floors. Got quie a lot of job quotations and Hector of Pro Rooter provided the best price. Hector and his team suggested to repipe my entire plumbing system with copper instead of just fixing the leak which costs more to fix. When they opened the shower tub and faucet wall, they saw dryrots on the wall and underneath the tub. They suggested to replace the entire shower and tub for again a fraction of the cost and they indeed did a wonderful job. They are good, quick, and neat. read more

We recently discovered a large 200 gallons/day leak at our residence. When the leak was discovered, we called Pro Rooter plumbing, a highly recommended plumbing company. Hector and his crew arrived within a couple of hours, and fixed the leak in about an hour. Hector politely answered all our questions, and we wish him good luck in his successful business. Thank you Hector and team, and than you Pro Rooter. Dr. G.C. read more

I wish I had read the other comment about this company before I called them to fix my toilet clog problem. The guy came, told me that he will fix the clog for me for $185.and he had to remove the toilet in order to fix it. After the clog was fixed, the guy said he need to charge addition $150 to put back the toilet. Well, what can I do? I can't use the toilet without it goes back to the original place!!! Then he try to do it, but he broke the screws of the bottom part of the toilet and now he told me he really can't fix it and he has to go to his next job!!! He left with my $185 check and put down "NO WARRANTY" for his service. I paid Pro Rooter to solve a my colg problem, but they created another problem for me!!! Later I have to call around to find a handy man and pay money to have the toilet put back. I will never use this company again! read more

Rip off. Do not use these people. We had a clogged toilet in our bathroom. We called for an estimate and was quoted $150.00 for arrival and clearing the drain. When they arrived it was changed to $175.00?Then the plumber told my wife he needed to get under the house to open the pipes. My wife told him that this has never happened before ,no one ever had to fool with the pipes. Thank god she didn't let him under our home. She told him to just fix the clog from the toilet. He told her that he needed to remove two toilets to remove the clog.He then told her that the cost would be $425.00. $175.00 for the call $50.00 to pull toilets and $100.00 to reseat each toilet.Reseating the toilet should be required and included with there removal cost. What good is a clog removal without resetting a toilet .We called other plumbers to confirm this.He had already removed one toilet. The wife called me and explained the problem.I told him to just unclog the drain and I would reseat the toilet. The wax ring was 2 dollars and it took 2 minutes. My wife told me that Chilo was well spoken and easy to understand, but when I spoke to him on the phone he spoke very broken English and became very hard to understand.I normally don't write reviews but how many little old ladies does this guy rip off.Can you imagine what this guy gets away with. What about people with no clue as to what needs to be done.I hope this review saves somebody from getting ripped off.Do not trust these people. read more

I had an absolutely terrible experience with Ely of Pro Rooter. I had two very slow drains in the kitchen and bathroom that needed to be fixed. To begin, Ely came 45 minutes early without calling first. He then asked me to provide him with a plunger, a bucket, bath towels, paper towels and a wire coat hanger (shouldn't a plumber have available the tools of his trade?). He didn't use coveralls when he crawled under the house to inspect the pipes or boot coverings and tracked debris into the house. He used an electric snake on wheels and the wheels left dirty tracks on the kitchen floor and the hardwood floor between the kitchen and bathroom. He splattered kitchen sink debris on the woodwork under the sink and on the kitchen floor. And now my kitchen sink leaks from the pipes Ely opened to snake the sink. Needless to say, I will not use Pro Rooter again. read more

I choose Richard among all other contractors to repipe my water main and got a very good experiences today! He used a part of underground piping instead of digging up whole path between water meter and water main, saved a time and effort for the repair work later on, as well as kept drive way untouched as much as possible. He finished the piping work in just about six hours almost exactly as he told me at beginning, no any surprise. In addition, the price and warranty are reasonable in terms of this high quality work. I am so satisfied with his work, and will use him again if there is similar issue later on. read more
