    Powder dipped nails!
    Grace K.

Just moved to the area and was looking for a new nail salon. I decided to try out Pro Finish Nails since it's the closest to my house. I called to make an appointment but they told me that I could walk in. I couldn't decide between a gel manicure or powder dipped nails. She told me that she could try it on one finger so that I could see what it looked like. Lang was my technician and she was very careful. She took her time to make sure that my nails were exactly what I wanted. I am in love! I've never had powder dipped nails before but I am so happy that I decided to try it today. The price was really good too! I will definitely come back!

The male technician who did my pedicure was excellent. He was professional, thorough, and did a great job. I have absolutely no complaints about the service he provided. Unfortunately, the condition of the salon during this visit made it difficult to relax. I saw roaches crawling on the seating area, which immediately raised concerns about cleanliness. There was also a spider in the salon that several employees were loudly talking about and trying to kill, which made for an uncomfortable atmosphere while clients were trying to enjoy their services. The biggest issue for me was watching a scrub product spill onto the workstation. Instead of discarding it, one of the technicians scooped it up with his bare hand and put it back into the bottle. Seeing a product that is used on clients' skin handled that way was very concerning and made me question the salon's sanitation practices. This experience was surprising because it wasn't like this during my previous visits. I hope this was just an off day and that management takes these concerns seriously. The technicians are talented, but cleanliness and proper sanitation are just as important as good customer service. At this point, I'm not sure if I'll return, which is unfortunate because I've had good experiences here in the past.

I FINALLY FOUND IT FOLKS!!!…read more I've been going to Refresh Nail Spa since winter 2023, after searching for salons that offer drill-free manicures and focus on natural nail care like IBX treatments. I ended up finding Bernadette, an independent nail tech who works there--and she's been an absolute gem. While she does use a drill (contrary to what I originally searched for), she's incredibly skilled, gentle, and precise--so much so that it never damages my nails. Her technique is both efficient and mindful, striking the perfect balance between machine and hand filing. Initially, I was getting regular gel manicures, but Bernadette truly cares about nail health, and she suggested switching to builder gel (BIAB). It was a game-changer. Builder gel doesn't require soaking off and allows for continuous fills--meaning you can build on top of your last set without compromising nail integrity. Since switching, my nails have grown so long, strong, and healthy, and a single BIAB manicure can last me up to 6 weeks! Beyond nails, Bernadette is a wonderful person--easy to talk to, knowledgeable, and deeply caring. She also specializes in pedicures for clients with diabetes or other health conditions, which speaks volumes about her expertise and sensitivity to clients' unique needs. If you're looking for a thoughtful, health-conscious nail experience, I highly recommend Refresh Nail Spa and Bernadette in particular. My monthly visits have become something I genuinely look forward to.

She is a delight in every way--knowledgeable, gentle, and truly dedicated to her clients. Bernadette goes above and beyond to meet individual needs, making each client feel like a priority in the most sanitary atmosphere. After moving from the West Coast, I wanted to continue using non-toxic products, specifically Light Elegance. Bernadette not only consulted with my previous artists but also went the extra mile to purchase everything I needed to continue my nail care routine seamlessly. Her dry pedicures, which are actually certified medical pedicures, are nothing short of transformative. Her work speaks volumes, and so does she--always professional and attentive. Bernadette is in high demand, and for good reason. If you want to experience top-tier nail care, join the waiting list as she is appointment only. I'm very grateful to have found such a talented and caring nail artist. Highly recommend!

Even though I'm from…read moreBaltimore and am temporarily residing in the Midwest, I made a point to visit MyAllure Nail Spa whenever I was home. My first few visits were positive, which is why I'm giving three stars rather than fewer. Each visit, I had a different technician. I typically get polygel with a design, and the results were generally solid until my third visit on 1/3/26. After calling about 45 minutes ahead, I was seen, but while the design was nice, the base of the polygel set was poorly done (the tech was also rushing for an upcoming appointment after me). One nail had a visible hole in the product, which was patched rather than properly smoothed and reinforced. Less than a week later, another nail cracked across the middle. On 1/11/26, I called to ask about availability for a repair and was told to come in. After checking in, I waited about 30 minutes before being told it would be another hour. During that time, I overheard a technician grouchily tell the front desk, "Just tell her to come back another time," while I was standing nearby. That felt extremely rude and unprofessional, especially given that I had called ahead, was told to come in, and received a confirmation text. I explained that if there was no availability, I should have been told upfront. I had driven 35 minutes from Baltimore and could not wait longer due to a flight back to the Midwest. I really liked this salon, but the combination of subpar workmanship on my last set, being turned away after calling ahead, and the dismissive behavior makes it hard for me to return. Please be honest about availability so clients don't waste their time. The cracked nail eventually split completely and injured the skin beneath my nail bed. This salon is on the expensive side, so to pay all that $$$ and not get service that matches just doesn't work.

I was a walk-in because I was told that there would be plenty of places between the hours of three and five. My aunt, a spirited, senior citizen and I wanted to get our pedicure and some overdue relaxation at a day spa nearby. Here are the pros: Greeted by a friendly nail technician and aesthetician Chloe There were ample chairs for pedicures, and several seats for nail services Beverages, snacks, and light cocktails were offered and automatically served (included) Children are welcomed for services and in the Salon parents are getting their services done (I am not sure if this is a policy, but I was definitely surprised to see a handful of children throughout the spa and quite a bit of noise from one child in particular) You can distinguish all of the technicians based on their uniform, a beautiful red spa technician's coat The massage chair and the steam therapy were amazing The holistic approach with real oranges, milk and natural soap was used throughout the pedicure experience The best part and totally put me to sleep, the aromatherapy neck, warming pillow, and the five minute massage (seated-neck-and-shoulders)I will be back every month for this in particular with Chloe) I wouldn't be honest if I didn't give you the cons: When I walked in the door, it was a very tight space for customers to enter an exit. I was nearly bumping into people signing in and exiting and coming in behind me. I wasn't sure what the sign-in process was supposed to be like, however, I had to ask. I walked through the spa and was pleasantly surprised that there were so many seats. Unfortunately, there were so many seats for people to have their nails and toes done that there were only a few seats for customers who had to wait. The price of the pedicure was fairly priced however, I felt like I was was pressured to into an up-charge and asked to go with gel polish When discussing my return to the salon, my aunt mentioned she would like to come back with her senior citizen, friends. The technician first stated that the typical price of a decent pedicure would be about $55, then she said it would be more like $65 and above above. This seemed like a lot for seniors. Vicky seemed to need step-by-step directions to complete the same pedicure. The outcome was amazing However, my Aunt had nail polish all over her feet because Vicky did not instruct her to sit and have her toes dried. When I was sitting near my aunt who was having her toes repaired after a polish debacle, I was asked to move from a seat that was needed by a customer. I could understand why I needed to move. however, the technician did not have to be so rude and to say to me "you need to move". I didn't catch her name, but she was in fact, pregnant on the day that I was in for my service. Vicky did not execute in the same way as Chloe she seemed to disregard the need for drying time of regular polish and started polishing my aunt's toes in the middle of the Salon that was outrageous and for that my aunt will not be back with her friends. I must confirm that I did pay in full and I did tip Chloe 20% and Vicky 20% of the cost we paid for our services. Finally, both technicians got tips, however I will only be able to recommend that customers who read this review, work with Chloe when consider considering this nail spa.

The technician was incredibly rude right from the consultation. I needed a full set and wanted a pedicure, too. When I tried to explain what I wanted for my feet, she became loud and told me not to "tell her what to do." I was simply trying to communicate my preferences, which is standard for any customer. She insisted I should just say "make it look good" and leave it at that. I felt embarrassed and nearly walked out mid-service. She also tried to talk me out of a pedicure, saying if I didn't like the way they were I should stop looking at my feet. I have never experienced this level of unprofessionalism at a nail salon. While the nails and feet did turn out looking nice, the bad attitude and complete lack of tact from the technician ruined the visit. A 2-star rating is generous, as the customer service here desperately needs improvement. While I do not recall the name of the technician, she sat in the second row from the front desk and on the right hand side.

I showed her pictures of nail inspiration for what I was looking for and she was able to help me pick a color that would match what I wanted. I have been to many nail places where they rush through the process of asking you the shape of your nails, and the color that you're looking for, so I greatly appreciate the time that Phuong took to meet with me to talk before getting into the appointment. I paid approximately $70 for a builder gel overlay manicure. Within just two days, one nail broke. I returned to the salon and they repaired it, explaining that it may have happened because my nails were short. Unfortunately, the problem didn't stop there. By day 12, several nails were lifting and flaking off. In my experience, a builder gel overlay should last significantly longer than that, especially at this price point. I returned to the salon before the two-week mark. Because they were busy, I told them I was fine with receiving a regular gel manicure instead of having the builder gel completely redone. I fully expected to pay something for the service, but I was surprised when I was charged full price despite the original builder gel overlay failing in less than two weeks. I didn't want to make a scene or put staff in an uncomfortable position, so I paid and tipped as usual. However, after I got home, I submitted a message through the salon's online contact form. I explained my disappointment, acknowledged that I had otherwise been happy with the salon, and stated that I wanted to continue as a customer. I simply felt that charging full price after a premium service failed so quickly was not a fair resolution. The salon never responded. To me, the lack of response was the most disappointing part of the experience. Nail services can occasionally have issues, and I would have been understanding if someone had simply acknowledged my concerns and attempted to make things right. Instead, I paid for a failed builder gel service, paid again for a replacement manicure, and received no follow-up whatsoever. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Stories Salon for nail services.
