After my terrible experience at Bella Nails last week, I came here after work to get my nails re-done. I went in without an appointment, but I didn't mind waiting. And I'm glad I did! Susie was my nail tech, and man. She used brand new instruments. She was very nice and took her time, and my hand massage was A+. For $14 this manicure is a flipping steal. The salon is clean, everyone who works there is very kind, and it's clear they all care about their clients. No one was talking about each other, just a nice, calming atmosphere. This will be my new go to place. Susie is a nail wizard, and this is worth the drive.

Tina was amazing! She did the length and shape I wanted and advised accordingly. I for an acrylic set with get polish and paid $48 and it was completely worth it! No wait at the door (I did have an appointment) and she was very kind and gentle with my hands. Her application of the acrylic and gel polish was very clean and precise! I will be returning again soon!

I started work again and decided to treat myself to a manicure. First off, everyone is practicing safe covid measures. All the staff wear a mask, have plastic separators and you are asked to wash your hands as soon as you walk in. I had an appointment for 11:15 but had to wait at least 15 minutes before she started my nails. Normally when you get a manicure, you get your cuticles trimmed but that didn't happen. Instead she used the electric shaver on my cuticles I'm after applying the tips. It felt unpleasant and my cuticles did not look clean. She filed my nails before applying the tops but it was not clean at all. It was rough, uneven and honestly looked like it was done without thought. You can see in the picture how bad it looks. The nails itself look good if you just look at from the front but the back is horrendous. If you were to look closely there are little bubbles that can be seen as well. I'm not sure I will be coming back....

This place is fantastic. I'm new to the area and decided to treat myself one night. This place had consistently great reviews so I booked an appointment for a mani/pedi online with Nida. Super easy. Not only do you get email confirmations but a text alert the day of! When I arrived they were already ready for me and so I chose my colors and sat down in the chair. Nida asked if it was okay that the grey I'd chosen for my toes was so sheer. I was hemming and hawing and asked if she knew if they had something in a similar color but more opaque. She asked what shade I was looking for and went and found a perfect Essie polish. I got chatting with the woman beside me as she and I had clearly been hunting for similar shades of red for our nails. I wanted red on my fingers but that grey on my toes. Nida offered me sangria or a mimosa. I went with the mimosa and it was delicious. She started working on my toes and was surprised to find that I barely noticed that she was working on them. She was so gentle, didn't fight the skin, etc. You know what I'm talking about when techs at some salons start hurting the skin around your toes or go too far under the nail and it gets sensitive. None of it happened here. My nails were sad and unkempt before and they looked pristine when Nida was done with them, even before the polish. The conversation was small but very pleasant. She's quick to smile and likes to joke. On to the manicure! Same deal at the toes. She did a fantastic job. We happened to be sitting with another tech and her client and the four of us got into some very funny conversations. When Nida was done she left me to dry while she did some other things. Eventually she let me know that I should be fine as long as I wasn't shoving my hands into pockets and the like. She checked me out and it was only $35! The manager happened to be up there and I mentioned what a nice outfit she was running. No question at all that this will be my go-to spot for nails, and it seems like they have plenty of other loyal customers too.

They DO NOT accept walk ins. Be sure to make an appt. I went in at the time they opened on a THURSDAY and was told they were fully booked for the day.... Update: finally booked an appointment three weeks later and it was definitely worth it. They are indeed a very busy salon though. While I was there the phone never stopped ringing. So if you're looking for last minute availability, if you call instead of book online they sometimes have cancellations and will work you in. They worked really hard to fit in the girls that were calling to come in last minute. But I love that you can make appts online. So much easier, especially when you know they're busy, calling takes time away from clients. As they didn't have a receptionist there when I went.

    Thank you, Tia!

Clean, new place! Love how they use new tools each time they do a manicure or pedicure! Service is great! Tiffany and Tia are very friendly and precise! Definitely coming back!

Nothing like gettig a good pedicure and being served a mimosa. Thanks Tina for my pink fill & Ms. Mary for my pedicure. Tip!

Tina at Koi nails is the best. As I stated before they stay very busy so you MUST!!! make an appointment. The salon is clean, new and a nice atmosphere.

She won me over with her extremely gentle and relaxing pedicures and her meticulousness and attention to detail with my SNS manicures. She is a total perfectionist. I've gotten solid colors, french, and ombré nails with her and they are always perfect. She spends extra time massaging my legs and feet. I just adore her. The salon itself is very clean, spacious, updated, and beautiful! I find it very convenient that I can book my appointments online. My only complaint (and I don't believe this has anything to do with Ann) is that she is often running really behind for my appointments. I wonder if the business should extend their service times so the technicians are not over-booked and constantly running behind. I am a hair stylist so I get it- every once in a while. But when it's 9 times out of 10, running 30+ minutes late for pre-booked appointments- something needs to change. I even called today to see if she was running on time or behind. I was told she was running 5-10 minutes behind, so I took my time getting there. My service did not actually begin until about 40 min after my appointment time. Summary: Book with Ann for a phenomenal experience. Be prepared to not be seen at your appointment time.

Then the man answered the phone and chose to pretty much ignore me while I'm standing there. I am so disappointed and I was so relaxed after my pedicure, but that's now ruined! If your sign isn't updated, at least honor the price but they weren't willing to do that. My total was $100, $80 for the pedicure and $20 extra for gel, but they gave me $5 off because the sign was wrong. Not worth it! Gee, thanks! Will not return here!

So I decided to go to a different location, which is this one, which is a little bit closer to my house. and I click any "Sugarista"- and the time I needed didn't pop up. Then I proceeded to click the individual to see the time that I needed. I finally clicked on Liv (I think that was her name) for 525pm. I made an appointment at 5:25pm, because that is when I can make it after work. A couple minutes later I get an email saying my appointment has been rescheduled to 5:20 PM. OK... so I leave work and I rushed there from Timonium to Ellicott city, in traffic. I called the store to let them know that I'm gonna be five minutes late... Which would be 525, my original booking appointment... and a man answers the phone. He tells me no problem, but I can be taken whenever. I actually get there at exactly 5:20 PM. I get into the store and I don't hear or see anybody. I decided to wait a couple minutes and nothing. I decided to call out into the store for somebody, and I finally got an answer. This is 530pm. The owner of the store calls me, Toshi, telling me that my Sugarista is on her way. I go to the bathroom, I come out, and another Sugarista is at the front desk, who I thought was my Sugarista. But it wasn't. It was somebody else. I was informed that my Sugarista was not coming. This is 540ish-pm at this point. I'm still waiting. I've been waiting for 20mins. Then the Sugarista tells me that she's completely booked and she can take me at 6:30pm if I don't mind waiting. So I drove 45 minutes from Timonium in traffic, waited 25 minutes, and then I would've had to wait another 45 minutes to get serviced?!? Heck no. I walked out. On top of that, the owner, Toshi, calls me from the store phone, apologizing. In that message, she gives me her personal phone number. She proceeds to tell me how sorry she is for the inconvenience, and that she will give me a gift card for the full balance of the service. I tell her I normally go to the location in Perry Hall, but the girl I normally go to didn't have the time that I needed. She said that's totally understandable and Once she figures out how to send me a gift card, she would. She sent me a gift card for $25. My service costs $65. When I spoke to her today, she said that she wasn't going to send me the full amount for the service for another store, but cover the cost if I decided to come to her store.. after this experience, I don't think so. Even though Ellicott city is closer to me, I will be going to the one in Perry Hall, which is roughly 45 minutes away. I do think it is a little untrustworthy that she would tell me all of this on her personal phone and not the work phone so that it doesn't show up on my account. 0/10, will not be going back. But will 1000% be going to Perry Hall which is 40 mins away from me.

I paid approximately $70 for a builder gel overlay manicure. Within just two days, one nail broke. I returned to the salon and they repaired it, explaining that it may have happened because my nails were short. Unfortunately, the problem didn't stop there. By day 12, several nails were lifting and flaking off. In my experience, a builder gel overlay should last significantly longer than that, especially at this price point. I returned to the salon before the two-week mark. Because they were busy, I told them I was fine with receiving a regular gel manicure instead of having the builder gel completely redone. I fully expected to pay something for the service, but I was surprised when I was charged full price despite the original builder gel overlay failing in less than two weeks. I didn't want to make a scene or put staff in an uncomfortable position, so I paid and tipped as usual. However, after I got home, I submitted a message through the salon's online contact form. I explained my disappointment, acknowledged that I had otherwise been happy with the salon, and stated that I wanted to continue as a customer. I simply felt that charging full price after a premium service failed so quickly was not a fair resolution. The salon never responded. To me, the lack of response was the most disappointing part of the experience. Nail services can occasionally have issues, and I would have been understanding if someone had simply acknowledged my concerns and attempted to make things right. Instead, I paid for a failed builder gel service, paid again for a replacement manicure, and received no follow-up whatsoever. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Stories Salon for nail services.
