One of the owners and another employee came and spent about two hours looking at the car and told me they'll get back to me with an estimate. Three days later I received the estimate of $29,000.00 + to fix it, I went and talked to them and clearly told them that I didn't have too much money and if there was anything they could do. They reduced the price to $22,000.00 and told me that I needed to give a down payment of $10,000.00 to get started and they would have the car ready in three months. Three months went by and when I went to look at the car and it was in pieces, they told me they needed more money and I gave them another $5000.00 dollars and asked them if the car would be ready by March and they told me that they didn't see why not (this was going to be my dream car) at the end of February, I received a phone call from them and they stated that they needed to see me about the car, now almost 6 months later they tell me that it was going to cost me about $75,000.00 to $100,000.00 to get my car ready, but the car was in the same condition it was two month back. Why didn't they tell me this the first month the car was there and before I spent all that money, to them $15,000.00 may not be much but when you don't have that kind of money it's a lot, I told them I didn't have that kind of money and one of them told me to think about it and he walked away. I finally talked to me friend and we agreed that it was best to take my losses and get the car out of there. When I went to pick up my car, they had the nerves to tell me that I still owe them $475.00 more dollars for the work they had done. They turned my dream car turned into my worst nightmare. What a mistake I made, I lost a huge amount of money and finally sold what was left of the car for pennies on the dollar. I'm taking time to write this to prevent someone else in make the same mistake. WHAT A BIG MISTAKE I MADE, STAY AWAY FROM THAT PLACE.

Eric made many promises on the motor; namely, that the engine would make 1000whp, be able to make that power all day long, not throw codes, and be covered under warranty. None of this happened. What I ended up getting from Pettys is a car with large amounts of metal in the oil. The car also rolled off the delivery truck from Pettys throwing codes. It has never worked correctly and even threw a code where it was not making boost because they did not set that up properly. The best part is what Pettys did when I let them know. Pettys has refused to acknowledge any thing. They refuse to accept a lab report from a national lab that tests oil. Pettys does want my samples which I imagine would end up getting lost as soon as they get them. Pettys has also actively been trying to get my reviews of the shop and work from pretty much every source. I now have a North Carolina DOJ complaint and a BBB complaint filed. I have also had to look into getting a attorney to sue them. They even refuse to remove images of my car from the pettys garage website which is used to show a nice clean whipple install. It does not even fit correctly. It really is false advertising. This shop is not worth the risk. Avoid them. Search the forums for high performance cars and you will alot of people talking about stories that sound about the same. Pettys Garage, using Richard Pettys name, got me for over $22k if you factor in shipping the car to and from them.

In my case, they honored the requests I had to blend old tech and new together in an obscure not well supported (by the aftermarket) 70s car that I drive 10,000+ miles per year. The end result is a car that looks stock, has the power of a modern sports car, better fuel economy and emissions as well as better usability that still "feels" like the same great riding fun relaxed to drive classic car that it was when it came in. Technically speaking, I'm not sure of anyone else that has mated a 6L80E transmission to a beefed up 70s Buick 455, and made it all work like an OEM. These guys did. Their service is good and the owner is willing to engage in direct communication with customers, even providing feedback on weekends to support their work by text messaging and phone. They deliver projects in a timely fashion as well, extremely rare for their industry. Paying them is simple too, yes they accept credit cards even apple pay - no toting checks down to the shop to keep a project running. Don't expect economy pricing, I have spent a boatload of money here. However, if you're shopping professional restoration / customs shops for a job - you will find Midnite to be inline with expectations. I really like these guys and will be a continuous customer for them for years to come. They make things happen that others simply can not do and that means lots of my cars will be rolling over to them!

Having discussed the details and paid a $500 deposit, we had the car delivered to their shop. The work was promised within 6 months, and we were excited about getting the work done so that we could send it to the paint shop. Six months came and went, but we saw no photos or verification of work done. We then received another invoice, this one for $2000. We requested photos. Three were received, and we were shocked to see that the car had been disassembled, both rear quarter panels had been cut off, and the entire (perfectly good) roof had been cut off! Within a couple days we showed up at Corbett's shop to see the car for the first time in 7 months. At that point we had spent $5000 in labor, and another $950 for a quarter panel. Less than 10% of the work had been done. Simple math told us that this shop would be charging us $50-75,000 for labor alone, and thousands more for fabrication. We asked that the shop cease work. A week later, on February 15, 2022 we loaded the car onto a trailer, full of fenders, quarter panels, bumpers, doors, etc. Before we finished loading, I was presented with another bill for $1500. Although I did not authorize the roof being cut off, I was charged for it. The invoice included another $500 for welding it back on...apparently a big moneymaker for this shop. I asked what the extra $1000 was for. When it was pointed out to me, the work was negligible...it resembled a 2 hour job @ 75.00 an hour. I thought my $10,000 would buy a lot of welding and fabrication. It did not. $7000 was spent at their shop. For that I lost 7 months of time as well as having to put a car back in my garage that was disassembled, cut up, with virtually no work actually being done. Michael obviously pegged me as someone he could continue to extract money from, and finding tidbit reasons to charge me. The hours billed in no way parallel the amount of work actually done. If that is not the case, their crew is the slowest on Planet Earth. This shop has no conscience, with the objective of doing the least possible and charging the most a customer is willing to tolerate. The bad news: a loss of 7k cash, a cut up disassembled car, and virtually no work done. The good news: lesson learned.
