Pettys was contracted to build a 426 stroker engine for my hellcat in addition to installing a Whipple Gen 5 Super Charger. I had initially been dealing with Eric Hruza. Eric made many promises on the motor; namely, that the engine would make 1000whp, be able to make that power all day long, not throw codes, and be covered under warranty. None of this happened. What I ended up getting from Pettys is a car with large amounts of metal in the oil. The car also rolled off the delivery truck from Pettys throwing codes. It has never worked correctly and even threw a code where it was not making boost because they did not set that up properly. The best part is what Pettys did when I let them know. Pettys has refused to acknowledge any thing. They refuse to accept a lab report from a national lab that tests oil. Pettys does want my samples which I imagine would end up getting lost as soon as they get them. Pettys has also actively been trying to get my reviews of the shop and work from pretty much every source. I now have a North Carolina DOJ complaint and a BBB complaint filed. I have also had to look into getting a attorney to sue them. They even refuse to remove images of my car from the pettys garage website which is used to show a nice clean whipple install. It does not even fit correctly. It really is false advertising. This shop is not worth the risk. Avoid them. Search the forums for high performance cars and you will alot of people talking about stories that sound about the same. Petty's Garage is doing what I've wanted to see done with domestic vehicles for as long as I can remember. That is making high quality aftermarket parts for our vehicles. I have however been having some issues with a strut tower brace, but David/Greg have worked super closely with me to resolve the issue. Took my Chevelle to get some wiring issues repaired, engine tuned ,And exhaust welded up . Lots of looking and not much fixing. Replaced a flasher for LED taillights, unhooked wire to dome light . Tightened rag joint on steering column. Said engine ran ok ( but was hard to crank ), didn't weld exhaust , and told me I had a lot of wiring issues And had reached my 1 thousand dollar budget ! I dropped my car off for a pullie swap and a subframe brave to be installed. The car was there for two weeks and I had a scheduled pick up day. I arrived to find my car dirty with bird shit all Over it (9 quality piles of shit), lucky for me 4 of them Landed on my carbon fiber stripes. The best part my brace was not installed. Thanks guys. Petty's Garage was contracted to provide a show quality paint job on my 1967 427 Corvette. When I saw they were taking short cuts on the preparation of the body by not removing all of the previous paint I was told not to worry as they had a lifetime warranty on the finish (backed by BASF) and the vehicle would be covered if the paint failed. Within a month of completion the paint began to blister on all of the body panels. Petty's Garage picked up the vehicle from my house and agreed to repair it. The Corvette sat in their warehouse under their total control for 3 years waiting for the work to begin. I was then told I would have to pay the current cost of a paint job a second time before they would begin to repair the vehicle. Petty's paint shop foreman told his management they were obligated to provide a new paint job as he had been reminding me of their lifetime warranty during the years it sat in their warehouse. The management refused to acknowledge the warranty (it was even documented on their website) stating that it would cost them too much to repair the vehicle properly. A truly low life operation with no integrity to be found in any of their management! And yes, I attempted to take Petty's Garage to court for a slew of legal infractions. My attempt fell through when I discovered just days before the trial date that my "experienced and well connected" Randolph County attorney had not taken even the most basic actions to properly prosecute the case. In addition, the attorney was preparing his case around a claim different than what he had filed in court which would have been an automatic dismissal of the case by the judge. I have waited more than 2 weeks for my order(still waiting). I called 5 days after I placed my order to get an ETA. I was told the item was at the powder-coating place and would be shipping in a few days and that was 12 days ago. I called several times yesterday and could not get a hold of anyone so I sent an email directly to the guy that I have emailed before. No response. I called today and got nothing but excuses about how they cant control the powder-coating place and that there are other people that have ordered too, etc. I asked if they would consider a discount for future orders and got more excuses. This was my FIRST order with them and I have explained that I planned on purchasing more from them in the future, but they don't want to make it right. I was told the same thing today that I was told 12 days ago "it should be shipped in the next few days". Horrible communication and there seems to be no concern from them about customer satisfaction. read more
