Rick with Pro City DJ was not only an amazing DJ, but an amazing guy too! I had to reschedule my wedding because of COVID...twice! The second time, it was the day before the wedding when the venue got canceled! In less than 24 hours, we made a beautiful backyard wedding happen, and our DJ Rick stuck with us and really made the night special. As you can imagine, this really meant a lot to us, as we had enough stress on us already. Rick was super supportive and understanding throughout all the changes. On the day of the wedding, he showed up to the new location on time, set up in the best spot, brought his uplighting, which really made the backyard and house look awesome, and most importantly, he played some awesome music! In the months leading up to our wedding, Rick had a great program he used to make sure he would be able to play all the music we wanted. When we had to change plans again last minute, he took on even more duties as he really in a way became my Day of Coordinator as well as our DJ. It's really important for the DJ to follow the agenda and make sure they keep things on task so that the cake gets cut, the toast happens on time, the various dances get announced, etc... We had a face to face meeting to discuss our song choices and he even helped us with the space planning of the event giving us guidance on how to layout the tables so that the Music would be the most impact full for the service without having a speaker 5 feet from grandma's head... I don't write reviews ever. In fact, this is my first review and I am more than happy to take the time to write it. I hope that this makes your search for a DJ a breeze. My now wife, and I were in search of a DJ for our wedding this past June. I decided to start looking around for a DJ about 6-7 months before our wedding date. After researching and calling for quotes, I came across Pro City DJ and decided to give them a call. When I called, Rick answered the phone with the most cheerful voice. I explained to him what it was we were looking for and gave him a breakdown of what our venue was like. He then explained what he had to offer and asked if that sounded like something I could work with. He gave me a quote right then and there as to what he would normally charge for the services requested. After that phone call I kept looking around but didn't find anything that compared to what Rick had talked to me about. I gave him a call back about 3 months later, and to my surprise he remembered my name. Not only that, but he remembered what we had talked about over the phone 3 months ago. Obviously, we decided that he would be the perfect DJ for our wedding. From that point, we communicated back and forth all the way to the day of our wedding. He was more than happy to help us pick out songs and even request songs for us. The Wedding day came and he was there even earlier then he said he would arrive to start setting up. I didn't get to talk with him to much the day of but I was able to just thoroughly enjoy his services alongside my new wife. He became the voice of our wedding, he made announcements throughout the night, took suggestions from our guests, and worked in all the songs that we had requested be played. He was a master at reading the crowd. He would play songs that suited the likes of everyone and made everyone want to get up and dance. It was so good that I was even dancing around (and I Never dance). Rick and his wife, both were present at our wedding, were truly great to work with! Rick with Pro City Dj is so good at what he does. My husband and I hired him to Dj our wedding and the dance floor could not have been more full. He is great at figuring out your taste in music and the vibe you are going for. We loved all the music he played. He does a great job feeling out the crowd and playing music accordingly. He also has a perfect announcer's voice. Working with Rick was a very organized and professional process. He worked closely with our Wedding Coordinator to make sure that they both had the right timelines and order of events. As a result, the day went very smoothly, without any hiccups. DJ Rick is amazing! He was our DJ/MC for our September 16, 2017 wedding and since our first call with him, my now husband and I were blown away. He is very thorough and truly has a passion for music. He understands how a reception should flow and made it super easy for us to plan. He was very responsive and so helpful with our private estate venue that was pretty much "DIY" format where bride/groom pick all vendors and coordinate them individually. I wasn't sure how the flow of everything would pan out especially with our old car exit after the ceremony, but as an MC Rick communicated everything to be seamless. He listens to his clients and even offered us rose gold lighting after hearing our wedding colors, that to me was going above and beyond especially since his prices are very fair. He was also critical in helping coordinate the schedule with all other vendors and even made a site visit with us prior to the event to ensure everything would be perfect, and it was!!! I found Rick on Yelp, as with many of my other wedding vendors and after exchanging emails, and meeting him in person, decided to book him for my wedding in June at Ponte Winery. He is AMAZING! Firstly, he is so personable and easy to work with. He is very responsive to emails, organized, and made the day run so smoothly. I have been to countless weddings that have been great....except for the DJ, which was really a mood killer. I have always said, a good DJ will make or break a wedding. From the ceremony music, cocktail hour, to the reception, Rick coordinated every beautifully, and was able to "read the crowd", which is so important when hiring a DJ. He quickly learns the audience, and plays a variety of music to satisfy everyone. He had EVERYONE, and I mean everyone on the dance floor all night long, until the very last song played, which from my prior experiences as a wedding guest is quite rare. My husband and I hired Rick to DJ our wedding in June 2016 at Ponte Winery in Temecula, and he was AMAZING!! 5 stars is simply not enough, I would give him a million stars for both his service and professionalism. From the beginning, he was always reliable- answering emails within one day (at most, usually a few hours!) which when planning a wedding, you know isn't always the case, but it was always easy to get a hold of Rick to ask a question. He is extremely organized, thorough, and was amazing at "reading the crowd" on our wedding day. My husband and I have always said that a DJ can either make or break your wedding, as they really set the tone for the big day, and Rick had everyone on the dance floor until the very last song! I have attended a lot of weddings, and usually there is never much dancing (even with an open bar) because the DJ plays songs that people can't relate to, but Rick does a great mix of both new popular pop songs, and classic songs that gets everyone dancing. Hell, our guests even had us lifted up in chairs (we aren't even Jewish)!! I cannot say enough great things about Rick, and cannot recommend him enough to friends and family getting married in the greater Temecula area. He also does lighting, which really set a soft, romantic ambiance for our ballroom at Ponte. If there were more than 5 stars Rick would get all of them !! This guy is amazing, so thorough, organized, efficient, reliable, prepared, dedicated, and put 100% effort into making our wedding a success. WOW where do I start ? For starters we saw value in hiring a true PROFESSIONAL and not just some guy with a couple speakers...and there is plenty of those out there...we did our homework! Right from the beginning we could tell that Rick was very experienced and listens to the client. He made it clear that it was our wedding and he would make it happen the way we wanted it. At the same time we wanted someone that was very experienced and that didn't need to be babysat, someone that could give us advice and furthermore do his creative thing to make our wedding awesome! We interviewed several DJ's for our wedding on June 3rd 2017 in Temecula, CA at AVENSOLE WINERY (5 stars for Jessica and Avensole) We only called DJ's with 5 stars. It became clear that we wanted to work with Rick. Well in advance Rick sent us a wedding itinerary document that he requested we fill out and send back to him...it was his way of preparing for how our wedding (event) was going to go, the timing, the songs he was to play during every part of our ceremony, the type of music during the champagne reception, the cocktail hour, dinner, our favourites for the dance, etc. The fact is, this was HUGELY helpful to us. At first it seemed like a big task for us to try to figure out our itinerary and we kind of procrastinated. Rick was great with following up with us and making sure we sent it back to him. He actually had to push us a bit...(THANKS RICK) We now see how much of a help this was and it showed us how much effort he was putting into personalizing our wedding. It was kind of like the backbone of our entire event, it was the blueprint if you will and made our event run so smoothly and exactly how we wanted it. Moments before the ceremony started, I had the idea of having "Sharp Dressed Man" by ZZ top play while we drove up... since the groom (me) and the guys were driving up to the ceremony in a classic car. I literally asked Rick last minute and he said no problem. Everyone still talks about how awesome that was ! We had a couple of live musicians at the ceremony and Rick took control of making sure they had what they needed to plug into his system. He even communicated with them directly just to take one more thing off of our plate. There was a misunderstanding about where Rick was to set up all his gear for the Dance in the ballroom. When I walked in to the room prior to the ceremony starting I realized he was in the wrong spot. Even though he was all set up, he took it all down and moved to the correct location where we wanted the DJ. Even though he really didn't have the time to do it, Rick somehow pulled it off smoothly before the ceremony began so that everything was ready to go. He also provided uplighting and a monogram for us which we would highly recommend. It added so much to the look of our room. We really gleamed off of all of Rick's experience in choosing songs for every part of our wedding. We had specific songs we wanted for certain parts and then gave Rick the freedom to do what he knew was best for other parts of our wedding based on his vested interest in getting to know us personally and what we liked. I do not believe in micro managing when you hire the right person and if your going to do that then you might as well rent a couple speakers and plug in your iPod and forget a smooth running successful event. That's why its "PRO City DJ". Rick is much more than a DJ. His equipment is of the highest quality and he is prepared in every sense of the word. He actually had two full systems in use for our wedding so if something failed there was a back up... Rick provides a great service, and is a fantastic emcee ! He is a full service one stop shop ! I am a Professional Photographer and have photographed hundreds of weddings, events, commercial and corporate events, award shows, and you name it for 25 years. We got married in Temecula, CA and DJ Rick Walker of Pro City was our DJ. Prior to meeting Rick, our DJ process selection was turning out to be one of our most stressful experiences. When we initially spoke to Rick, we found him to be passionate and extremely knowledgeable. It was very clear that he is passionate about music and knows his music. Rick was our DJ for our wedding and I couldn't of asked for a better DJ, in fact Rick is more than just a DJ, he's an amazing emcee and knows how to work the crowd. He made all of the announcements from start to finish, he made sure all of our guests were having a great time, and knew where to be during our event. Rick is without a doubt a professional and is very good at what he does! Not only was he kind and courteous throughout our event, from the very first contact, he remained in close communication and answered all emails/calls same day, was very helpful while we compiled our playlist and was very knowledgeable and professional. Rick exceeded all expectations! We contracted Rick to Emcee/DJ our recent family reunion party in our back yard. On our first phone contact he asked questions to help him define our needs, then proceeded to describe the process and requirements. These included close proximity to an electrical source, informing neighbours of the event and its ending time as well as lighting requirements. Music is huge for us and we wanted someone that would not only play the music for the dance floor, but someone who we could also rely on for anything that had to do with sound, MCing, etc. He was always prompt and organized in his email exchanges, which was so helpful in the midst of wedding planning frenzy.
