As much as I wanted to select each and every song for the wedding, he made us comfortable enough to trust his expertise and song choice. We never regretted giving him our trust, since he played so many songs that made me want to keep dancing, all the while making sure that the Latin music my wife (and our guests) also wanted were spinning regularly. I do not believe we sat for more than a few minutes at a time, the music was way too good to remain seated. I reached out to Rick among other DJs after doing days/weeks of yelping/googling and was more than impressed with Rick right off the bat. His response email was detailed, to the point, didn't feel canned and he was basically the only one who wasn't trying to up-sell me or push extras or things I didn't ask for in my initial request. Moving forward, Rick was always quick to respond to my email questions - usually in less than 24 hours, which was super helpful. We decided to move forward with Rick and things only became more professional from there. He laid out in detail the breakdown of the cost, timeframe as well as provided a great worksheet (google docs) that we used together (DJ & wedding couple) to lay out important songs like 1st dance, father/daughter - mother/son dance, etc. and whatever songs we specifically wanted (or didn't want) played as well as coordinate the timeframe between vendors. We ended up using it from day 1 up until a few days before the wedding. He was super organized and that really took a lot of stress off of my shoulders. In addition to hiring him to DJ our wedding, we also used him for our photo booth as well. The photo booth was a HUGE hit, all of my family and friends (from the oldest to the youngest) were in there throughout the night. They provide a copy of each photo strip to the bride & groom in addition to each person in the picture so we had a ton of fun looking at them the days following the wedding. I received a quote promptly after contacting him with the event needs. It was detailed yet straight-forward and included thorough explanations and additional questions to help navigate through the more technical details of our lengthy program. He was adaptive and flexible, as well as familiar and knowledgeable about the venue and eager to understand every aspect of the event, and even the seemingly irrelevant information was never too minor for him to know, which demonstrated his ability to envision the whole program and be proactive in finding a solution for any potential interruption to the flow of the event, which is NOT the norm that I have experienced in my years of working with a variety of DJ's. He absolutely goes above and beyond. I arrived 3 hours prior to the event to find everything already set up which gave us plenty of time to run through the program and discuss any last minute changes which gave me the confidence and assurance that every event planner needs a few hours prior to the start of the event. We just had our wedding last week and Rick NAILED IT! When we first discussed the type of music he would play, I was a little skeptical because he told us to give him a couple of songs as a "flavor" for the wedding and to trust him to take care of the rest. Obviously we wanted a little more control, but we decided that since we were so focused on a number of other details, that letting the DJ control the music wouldn't be the worst idea. Our wedding was tough because we're a mixed race couple (me being Caucasian and my wife Vietnamese). This makes it so that our families like very different styles of music. When it came time for the reception, everything went amazing! Everyone was on the dance floor throughout the night. Everyone was having a great time. No one was turned off or felt excluded by any of the song choices. Rick was able to create a list for us that got everyone excited and made the end of our special day extremely fun and successful. We got married in Mendocino CA on 9/14/2013 and Rick did an amazing job! The music was such an important part of the night to us and I put a lot of thought into a playlist and talked with Rick about exactly what I was looking for, music that reached all generations at the wedding: us, our parents, and our grandparents. He got together all of the songs I wanted to play during cocktail hour and then did an amazing job with the dance music. Our friends and family told us after that the music kept the party going. My husbands grandparents who have been married for 50 years told us that when New York New York played it took them both back to when they were in their 20's and hearing that meant so much to me.
