Miguel with Sterling Productions is a top notch DJ. I am an event planner in my day job so I've seen a lot of DJs in my time and Miguel is absolutely the best by far. His announcements were effortless, not overpowering, and he stuck strictly to the schedule (but was flexible when we fell behind schedule). We told him we wanted 2010 throwbacks but some oldie throwbacks in the beginning of the night for some of the older crowd that might go home early and he delivered on all fronts. We had a meeting with him a few weeks prior to go over all of the little details and he was extremely organized. He also did the speaker system for the ceremony and worked with our minister to make sure we had enough microphones and speakers for our crowd to hear. The DJ really can make or break your wedding, in our opinion. Mark made this wedding a party. He was super easy to work with us through the entire process and came HIGHLY recommended from the venue. We worked with him and their site to build out the playlist needed for the ceremony, entrances, and reception. Working with him, we also decided to add a lighting package which transformed the venue perfectly. We just had a youtube video of the song we wanted for our ceremony, and he managed to find a play it without any issues. All our must-play pieces made it to the wedding, including the Aggie War Hymn (not something we typically see outside Texas). As the MC, he kept things light and moving without feeling rushed through any particular spots. During our Mother/Son dances, he watched as we gave cues on when to end the song, which helped with my mom's mobility issues. After dinner, the venue transformed into the best dance hall/club you could have imagined. The music was perfect. There was no single second that the dance floor wasn't packed with the ideal selection to keep it going. Our music tastes are also super random, but it all worked. As we planned our wedding one of the most stressful details for me was picking the right DJ. We wanted our reception to be a hit and a lame DJ would be deadly. We looked through Yelp reviews, talked to companies that came with referrals, and ultimately decided on Sterling. Working with Mark was great. He really stood out from the pack with his prompt and courteous follow up. The online program he uses is terrific, allowing you to take your time figuring out your music on your own time, communicate with your DJ, and make payments all online. Our actual DJ was Devaughn. We could not have asked for anyone better. He was professional, unobtrusive (my highest compliment for any vendor), and gave us exactly what we wanted during our reception. We recently hired Mark for our wedding at Ponte Winery in Temecula, and it was the best decision we made. Mark and his team did the lighting for our reception space, and was also our DJ for our ceremony and reception. I knew Mark was going to do a great job from the day we met him. He was very flexible and professional, and I felt confident to hire him to make our special day even more amazing. I had seen pictures from another wedding that Mark had done the lighting for at Ponte, and had told him I would like something similar. It really pains me to write a somewhat negative review because I really wanted to love my experience as much as everyone else did. We had DJ Jason Bee assigned to our wedding. He's very professional and welcoming and we had no problems communicating with him via email. However during the reception, it seemed like he never looked at the portal with all the details that we asked for. I asked for two different songs to be played at the bouquet toss one during and one right after. The song after the bouquet toss never happened. I also requested a song to be dedicated to my mom and I kept waiting for it to be played it didn't until I personally had to go up to him and ask, even then he seemed a bit confused as to what I was talking about which gives me the feeling that he just never looked at the details until the day of the wedding if ever. Last but not least, I made sure I email him before the wedding to explain how our first dance song should be played (from the beginning of the song) because we had paid $800 in dance lessons and the song should be played from the beginning so it matched the choreographed dance exactly. Unfortunately, DJ Jason Bee played it 7 seconds into the song which threw off our whole choreographed dance and $800 down the drain. In the middle of the dance we could not understand what went wrong as we were sure to practice our dance over and over again. It wasn't until I looked back at the videos when I realized he didn't play our song from the beginning. I just want to note that no matter how easygoing a couple may be, their wedding is the biggest and most important day of their lives, the little details can make or break someone's wedding! Wow, I can't believe I'm the first person to review them on Yelp! Let me say that I looked on Yelp for DJ's for our wedding in Temecula and it was slim pickens! Maybe this is why. I also reviewed Sterling DJ's on Wedding Wire which has many more reviews. We had a small (65 people) wedding consisting mostly of friends and work colleagues at Wiens Family Cellars in Temecula. It wasn't going to be a huge rave dance party, but we wanted cool music and to be able to dance and not have to worry about anything. Mark and Sterling DJ were recommended to us by Wiens but I did my research and looked into quite a few other DJ's before contacting Mark. Mark was very responsive (which was not my experience with the other DJ's) and I decided to book him the first time I talked to him. He recommended DeVaughn as our DJ and it was a PERFECT fit! We met up with DeVaughn at a coffee shop for the first time and could tell he was exactly what we were looking for. He was mellow, but knew good music (he had similar tastes to us), understood the size and what kind of party it was going to be. He was super easy going and I ended up changing so many things up until the last few days and he was totally cool with it. Not only did he do a great job up until the wedding of making me feel like everything was under control and would go off as we wanted, but the day of he was truly a Godsend! He came to see me while I was getting ready just to let me know he was there and everything was on schedule. I was a total wreck (for no reason - just nervous) and he made me feel so comfortable and like I didn't have to worry about anything. He announced everything and did a great job at getting the crowd excited, but in no way cheesy or lame (my biggest fear because I have seen some pretty cheesy wedding DJ's in my time!) He came over to us during the ceremony and checked on us several times, told us what was happening next, and just all around made sure the night went off as planned and that everyone was having a great time. He made me feel more comfortable than anyone else and I truly trusted him with our wedding night! We all danced the night away and we couldn't be happier with DeVaughn and Mark for making it a night to remember! Our experience with Sterling Productions was great.   Our DJ, Miles, was very attentive when we meet with him.  He listened to us, took notes, made suggestions, and then used his skills to create the experience that Linh and I had envisioned.   During the event, Miles was an expert.  He read the crowd well and got them dancing.  (Some of them had not danced in years)   He handled our song requests, including some special requests to stop and start songs in particular places.  He even pretended to "mess up" in front of the crowd, as I asked him to, so that we could surprise our guest with a second dance "first dance".   Also, (as I found out later) Miles had to deal with an obnoxious, alcohol-fuel relative making inappropriate requests.  Miles handled him beautifully.   Miles is classy and professional. Our coordinator stressed that while we were welcome to always choose our own vendors, the DJ can make or break your wedding if they don't know your venue, etc, and highly suggested using one from their list. We interviewed a few DJ's, but Mark at Sterling really just put us at ease so we decided to book them. It was a great experience from start to finish and they have a wonderful system in place to select your music and set up your wedding day from start to finish. We got to pick a lot of our own music and Mark was always helpful in answering any questions. The music he selected to play was awesome too. The day of our wedding, Mark had the dance floor packed the whole night. It was amazing. My husband and I are not dancers at all, and even we were out there for most of the night. While he was definitely well-versed in what he does and had tons of great song recommendations, his constant tardiness caused me a lot of undue stress throughout the planning process. We met with him 3 times before the wedding, and he was 30+ minutes late every time. While he was always very apologetic, I found this very unprofessional and was extremely worried that he would be late on our wedding day. He also played some of the wrong songs during our rehearsal, which was incredibly nerve wracking (on the bright side, he was early to the rehearsal. Our wedding planner told us DJs usually don't even come to the rehearsal). Ultimately when our wedding day arrived, he was on time and everything came together beautifully. We had Sterling productions DJ our wedding. When we first booked I was doubled charged on the deposit, Which I had to reach out and have refunded. They informed me they have been having issues with their website. Not a huge deal but definitely an inconvenience. The reason I'm giving them a 1 star review was because of our specific Dj Jason. For our wedding we provided a timeline of the songs we wanted played for the ceremony, reception, grand entrance, first dances etc. The ceremony went fine but the reception was a mess. He played the wrong song for my wife and my grand entrance even though we told him specifically what to do minutes before. We had a conversation with him about not doing a mother son dance because my mother is disabled and he announced it anyways then followed it with 4 minutes of dead awkward silence which made my mother extremely uncomfortable. We told him we don't like top 40's music and to stick with oldies and classics and he proceeded to play top 40's and electro remixes all night. After speaking with my guests, post wedding I found out that he also didn't play any of my guests song requests which leads me to believe he was just playing off a playlist. Very disappointing.
