But they could have explained that to me rather than just show me and leave me to guess whether it was necessary or they were trying to upsell me. Still, the staff were nice enough and got me in and out of there quickly. They weren't super attentive but who cares, they got the job done and that's what matters. They'll do the oil change quickly as well as other needed services like replacing a broken light. They'll often encourage you to get extra services like replacing wiper brushes or engine air filter but not unless you need them. And they're quick and not super expensive. Plus you get to stay in your car rather than wait in a crowded waiting room during COVID. Would highly recommend.

They left a light bulb on the floor from their prior vehicle which I drove over when I was guided into the bay by their worker, smashing it under my left front tire. After he scolded the worker for leaving it on the floor, I questioned the safety of my tire. I was told it the bulb was plastic and for me not to worry about it. Then the high pressure salesman came at me to add the suggested transmission fluid change for $200+ (down to $180'ish with his discount code). I told him no, the dealer cost for the Honda 25k service was $225 and included the oil change, transmission fluid change and tire rotation. He told me multiple times that I was wrong, telling me I must have misunderstood the dealer. I found that to be VERY disrespectful to me as a woman. I was at the Honda dealer and received a written quote. I know it was right bc I had the convo with them personally. I have used Valvoline for years on multiple vehicles in two states. I'm new to Alexandria however after this treatment l, I will NOT be returning to Duke street or maybe even to Valvoline for that matter. Very poor customer shaming, hard sell techniques and safety compliance. Get your oil changed somewhere else.

They completed the repair, but then insisted I also had to replace my driver's side view mirror in order to pass inspection because the turn signal bulb on the mirror was inoperable. I questioned this because it didn't sound right. After leaving the shop, I researched the Virginia inspection requirements myself and discovered that the mirror issue was NOT actually a required inspection item in my case. I called the shop back, explained the code, and they still refused to pass my truck unless I paid for the mirror repair. At that point, I contacted the Virginia State Police and spoke directly with a state trooper, who confirmed that my understanding of the inspection requirements was correct and that Craftsman was wrong. The trooper even contacted the shop himself to explain their error. What disappoints me most is that I was a loyal customer who had spent thousands of dollars there over the years. I trusted them because I'm not a mechanic and relied on their expertise and honesty. Unfortunately, this experience seriously damaged that trust and left me questioning their integrity. Because of this incident, I don't think I'll ever bring my vehicle back again.

After reading some of the reviews I was hesitant to go back to Virginia Tire & Auto. I had been…read morethere many years ago. Due to convenience, I made an appointment to get four tires. The car was taken into the garage within 10 minutes of the appointment time which I was pleased. The job took a little longer than the provided time estimate. Which happens at most shops. My issues began at checkout when I was provided the invoice and noticed a $350 tire plan. I asked the customer service person if he was going to let me know that he added the protection plan. The response, "Oh I thought I mentioned it". Typical used car sales man tactic. Then suddenly the car needed an alignment. The rep threw down on the counter and alleged document which showed the tires out of alignment; however, he didn't even try and explain what the form said just began to tell me I needed it. I was still aggravated about the protection plan, so I told them to give me the keys and I drove away. The car drove perfect and didn't need an immediate alignment like he tried to upsell me. I don't mind the upsell if it is done in a professional manner. This felt shady and I wasn't sure I believed him. The new tires are great and I am happy with the installation. If you decide to go here pay close attention to the final invoice.

When a weird situation happened with my car, Marvin & Willie were super transparent, helpful, and kind to me while they accommodated me without hesitation. Know that car service centers/dealerships have a really bad rep for the greedy out there, but in the years that I've come here, I've always depended on this service station to do right by me and not try to empty my wallet as much as possible. I also appreciated not having to re-explain my situation ten different times for them to remember who I was. Was pleasantly surprised to see that they also updated the waiting area. I was okay waiting in the old area and migrating to McDonald's if it meant I got good service, but I can tell it's going to make a huge difference for the next time I do have to wait a little now that it's all revamped. Overall, a great experience. Thanks Marvin & Willie! Will obviously come again.

The business messaged me with a seemingly genuine desire to make things right, but the "damage was…read moredone" and I don't know how they could gain my trust again, if ever. Back in Cali, I started working on my own cars because a) I'd end up coming back to the shop because work not done properly, or b) once I have something repaired, another problem would come up as if the shop did something malicious so I could go back to them. If I had more money, I'd probably go to a more expensive place where there'd be a higher likelihood that it'll get done right the first time. But I was broke and would resort to searching for highly rated places, and choosing the most reasonable quote. Fast forward to now, and having to replace a rack and pinion was beyond what I was willing to invest in time and tools, so I went to a shop thinking that I'd find an honest place with someone whom I can call "my mechanic." But I was duped yet again. My message for any business that wants good reviews and repeat customers is: Just do it...right...the first time...and be honest. If you're going to quote a price, make sure it's a price you're comfortable doing outstanding work for and not bait the customer only to do a half baked job, or charge them extra in the end. (Technically, there's supposed to be a signed work order with an estimated price...and they'd have to contact the customer with any changes before work can be completed) Rosie and the rest of the staff seemed like really nice people, and I would have totally gone back....but niceness doesn't overshadow the fact that I wasn't satisfied with the work. Hopefully this serves as a wake up call for them, and as a reminder for other business owners to just do it...right...the first time...honestly, and with pride in your work - knowing that your reward isn't just financial, but that there's satisfaction in knowing that your customer is happy. For now, I'm going to have to go back to fixing/maintaining my own cars , and saving up for any major repairs so I can send my car to a reputable shop with a high number of positive reviews. That, and/or replace my car with a more reliable one with fewer major issues.
