I was married on 10/7/2023 and Details Made Simple (Carla) made sure it was the most beautiful, and least anxiety provoking day. I had previously booked a Day Of Coordinator in March 2023. This DOC promised me the world and more for my October 2023 wedding. We'll fast forward to August 2023 meeting with my venue, I was alone and freaking out. My DOC (not Carla) bailed on me for the venue meet, and made me feel like I was panicking for no reason with a timeline that will be formulated week before wedding. (Again not Carla) Thanks to my maid of honor coming through with an amazing recommendation, I was given Carlas's number after feeling defeated and upset with my previous DOC not supporting me or showing up for me when necessary. After 2 hour conversation with myself and my mom, I immediately felt at ease with Carla. My concerns were validated as "No way should a timeline be started 1 week before event". With many tears had during our initial conversation, that night I slept the best I had in all my wedding planning with Carla coming to my rescue and the rest is history. Details Made Simple is just that, Details Made Simple. From hiring (DMS) that August evening to my wedding on October 7, 2023, I was in The best hands Possible!!! We had a few phone calls in the weeks leading up to the wedding, and the month leading up to the wedding, myself and Carla were in contact regularly. She never hesitated to answer and email, a text or a phone call. I received updated timelines in my email on the regular, she contacted any vendors with whatever tasks were still not done, to her absolutely loving on my 3 year old niece on my wedding day, Carla was like having an extremely organized "family"member take charge and make sure myself, my husband and my bridal party had nothing to worry about on the wedding day. I can not speak highly enough about DMS services, professionalism and overall delivery of event planning. Carla, I am forever grateful to you! P.S. Carla was not available for my rehearsal at the church, but we had her team member Shadé. Also AMAZING. We were not an easy group and she got EVERYONE in place and running our ceremony as it was supposed to be. Thank you Shadé for being there for us!

My husband and I knew we would need a planner for our July 2016 wedding and went to google and Yelp to guide us to the right person. All roads led to Karen (5 Yelp stars is not an easy feat!). We met with her and decided we needed her full blown services....so worth it! We hired her around August 2015 and throughout the whirlwind year we felt she was by our side, guiding us and holding our hand. Most importantly, her vendor recs are amazing! We ended up hiring the band she recommended (45 Riots), the officiant for our ceremony (Chris Shelley), photographer (the photogenic lab), and makeup artist (Sheldon Bruck). There were more but those were the main ones. They were all very important pieces to the puzzle and all what we were looking for! We wouldn't have found them without her. Her weekly wedding Wednesday updates helped us stay on track and let us know she was always there..even months before the wedding. We had a few meeting before the wedding that lasted a few hours to iron out details we didn't even think about or consider. Then the day came...and it was truly perfect! I never understood the big deal about weddings until then. (I was definitely a lazy bride). My parents who didn't understand why we needed a wedding planner then understood and loved her for it! Karen is so sweet, helpful, organized and thoughtful and we're sooo happy with how everything turned out and it was largely because of her.

My husband and I got married on a perfect weekend last April in Brooklyn. The wedding went on without a hitch, and it was better than anything I imagined. Our guests keep saying that it was one of coolest weddings they've ever been to, but judging from that you wouldn't think that there was a long backstory involved to make it happen. Karen is a master in keeping the plan on track, and she coordinated all possibilities no matter what happened the entire time. Something new always seemed to pop up, from an unexpected wedding date and location change, to me suddenly having to move to a completely different city 300 miles away, to ceremony changes, and to us considering starting from scratch to do a city hall wedding midway (which we didn't). AND she seriously saved the day when our photographer couldn't show up at our wedding. Karen Brown's crisis management skills are the sh*t. We would've had to make do with someone's iPhone pics if it weren't for her finding another photographer at the last minute! We couldn't have been more grateful for having her as our planner that day. I thought she took care of that amazingly well: the original photographer called her the night before explaining he couldn't come, and Karen then immediately contacted another photographer, who was thankfully available, and booked her that same night. Karen handled the crisis on her own before she told me on the morning of the wedding so that I didn't have one more thing to worry about. I was completely stressed out in the days leading up to the wedding. If she called me the night before about this I would've lost my mind. So I was engaged for a long time but kept putting off wedding planning since I was always too busy. Karen got me started, making it easier for me by preparing a neat folder of all the info I needed and discussing the big picture. All my husband and I really wanted was a small casual party with good food, and Karen helped us develop a creative concept that fit our budget, which was also small. Being a former interior designer, she knows how to design good-looking events well. In working with her, I felt that she really took the time to really understand us and our needs to give us ideas that spoke to us, using her extensive knowledge of wedding places and people in the NYC area. Karen also had a great way of helping me see answers more clearly when I'm indecisive about things in the process, and that was great since being the decision maker on most everything was pretty stressful. Most importantly for me, since I had so much going on in my life, was that Karen created a personalized month-by-month checklist of what I need to do prior to my wedding date and followed up with me regularly for more than a year to make sure I created a guest list, bought my dress, sent out the save-the-dates, etc. When we were looking around for a venue and vendors, she took time out of her day to come along with us and asked them important questions that I didn't even think of. She also formulated a timeline for the wedding weekend scheduling each happening by the minute and sent it to all the vendors and the wedding party to keep them in the loop. Having everyone on the same page just made everything run much smoother. One of the best things I remember about Karen was that one day she mailed me a letter that was stuffed with exclusive sales at local wedding and accessory shops. She collected these from a recent wedding planner's gathering and thought of me. I was pleasantly surprised and so touched! Not only is Karen the most organized person I know who can be trusted to cover all the bases, she's also very conscientious in everything she does, and she's so pleasant to work with on top of all that. I had quite an exciting adventure with Karen Brown and can't believe we finally pulled it off so nicely! Needless to say, I've recommended her to everyone and will definitely get her on board for my next big party!

Finding Field & Feather was the best and worst thing that could have happened to me as far as event…read moreplanning goes: best because they are phenomenal planners and made everything seamless and stress-free for me; worst because now I'm spoiled by having them in my life and can't imagine ever going back to doing things myself. I've already hired them to plan two events (neither were weddings, but neither were simple either), and I'm sure I'll be back again as soon as I have an occasion/excuse for another party. I've hosted many events both professionally and personally, and worked with a number of different planners in the past, and really feel like I hit the jackpot with Dana and Sara. They're lovely to be around, and were totally hands on and willing to tackle virtually every element of my events, but were also great about incorporating my ideas and input. Perhaps most importantly, the Field & Feather ladies are organized, efficient, capable and generally excellent managers of event logistics, including: communication (they're super accessible and quick to respond to emails); deadlines (they stayed completely on top of things are were great about gently nudging me when I needed it); budgets (they had good advice about where to spend and where to save); vendors (they already had relationships with some lovely event professionals, and worked beautifully with the news ones we brought in); and production (from their detailed production schedules to their calm day-of, on-the-ground work, they truly had everything covered). What's perhaps most amazing is that Dana and Sara are also so creative and have fantastic taste; I've been around enough to know it's not easy to find someone who nails either execution or aesthetics, let alone both. I'm not someone who relinquishes control easily and tend to obsess over details, and this is the only team I can imagine trusting enough that I'd happily hand over the reigns. I couldn't recommend them more enthusiastically.

She is professional, funny and makes you feel like everything you say is important. She gave really good suggestions and anytime we needed assistance getting a contact or appointment, it was just done. Everyone knows her, she has tons of experience, she has a great disposition and is highly organized. She is literally the best, and then on our wedding day, everything went so smooth. Her crew was so nice, I never saw them until the very end, they were like secret ninjas. And best of all, she held our cake topper for a year (yes this review is a bit old)....A YEAR, didn't hound us to come get it, it just sat in their very nice and large freezer. She is the best, if I had another event to plan I wouldn't even think about it I would just go to her again. Side note: she has adorable dogs and pink monkey cookies for you to eat.

On one hand, after being surrounded by brides/weddings for the past 7 years, I was almost "weddinged-out" and wanted to basically hand my wedding planning over to someone else to deal with. On the other hand, I knew that the kind of wedding I wanted wasn't going to be easy to plan and that I had some fairly specific ideas about what I wanted. I made a few appointments with established wedding planners I had worked with in the past and for good measure, googled and read reviews to make appointments with a few newcomers. After an exhausting day of being interviewed about my wedding and receiving totally extravagant and ridiculous quotes, I met Michelle. Walking into her townhouse/office was so calming and I immediately felt better. She had comfy couches and an array of snacks and drinks out on the table (which seems like a small thing but after meetings with planners who just sat me down at a desk in their office and were on their laptop the whole time, it was nice to feel like someone prepared for me). There was a slideshow of ideas going on the big screen on the wall that had been prepared just for our wedding based on what I told her when we talked on the phone the day before. We chatted for about an hour. She was incredibly friendly and warm and I felt like she would be on top of the details without being pushy. As compared to some other planners who charge a percentage of what you are spending on your wedding AND limit you as to the amount of e-mails etc, you can send them, Michelle was a breath of fresh air. Her package was basically all-inclusive and was a flat rate, not based on how much we were spending. I signed up the next day. During the planning process, Michelle and her team were amazing. Not annoying, not pushy, very laid back and took care of a lot of details behind the scenes without me having to deal with them. I could not have asked for a more fun planning process and I was able to enjoy every minute without being bogged down by details. Michelle screened every vendor and presented us with the top choices in every category that fit into our budget and style. She made all the appointments and dealt with all the contracts and negotiations. She was so good a picking vendors that I booked the first vendor in every category without needing to see more. On the day of our wedding, Michelle was truly a gift. I knew (from talking to people afterwards) that there were things Michelle dealt with and catastrophies she was able to avoid without me knowing anything. I partied, ate, and enjoyed my day without having to deal with ANYTHING. She basically ran the entire day. My fiance and I agree she was worth every penny and so much more. She seemed to be everywhere at once - managing the flow of the day, dealing with guest questions, wrangling vendors and setting up photo shots. One second she's cueing the 2nd course and the next minute she's on the floor buckling someone's shoe before a picture - no joke. One of my bridesmaids complained off-handidly about her feet hurting and Michelle produced a pair of silver flats she had a bunch of just in case. We had a perfect wedding day and enjoyed every bit of it and 100% of the credit goes to her.
