I cannot recommend Forest Lodge enough!! If you are looking for a wedding/party venue, look no further!! Anthony and Charlie are the absolute best! They are fun, friendly, enthusiastic, accommodating, and love a good themed party! They will work hard to bring your vision to life! I told Anthony I wanted an 80s/90s themed party for my 40th and that I would be coming in costume as Madonna, and he had several awesome recommendations, including who to reach out to to have disco balls installed on the dance floor and how to decorate the space. I also want to give Sean, the manager who oversaw my event, a special thanks!!! He treated me like royalty, anticipating my every need and was incredibly organized and kept me on schedule. I had three different outfits and he had his eye on the clock, shuttling me back and forth on his golf cart to the bridal suite when it was time for an outfit change. I also performed a solo dance to Madonna's "Like a Prayer," which went really well, thanks to Sean being so on the ball!! He moved the party guests from the bar area to the dance floor and coordinated with the DJ so I could make a surprise entrance from the rear of the building! Prior to the event, Sean was also amazing! He loved to talk party details, was super responsive to my emails and very enthusiastic during the planning process, and did the entire set up the day of my event, arranging the décor beautifully!!! Right from our first visit, we knew this was going to be the place for our daughter's wedding. We were treated like royalty. No need for a Party Planner. Our Matre'd, Sean, and the bridal attendant, Desiree was beyond accommodating. They catered to everything we needed and to what we didn't even think we needed. From the beginning planning stages to the reception the day of, they made sure everything ran smoothly. All of the staff, which included the bartenders, servers, and chef were amazing! I have been coming here off and on for many years. I had two multi-class HS reunions over the past 4 years which were held here and I was on the committee, along with my most recent visit in Oct for their yearly Octoberfest. The Forest Lodge is a large outdoor venue that can handle a wedding, reunion, or large party. There is the Sherwood Chalet indoor facility that can be used for parties or conference room too. This is open all year round. There are 75,000 sq ft of covered pavilions and tented areas open style but convenient if it rains. and shaded picnic groves.There is plenty of tables and bench style seating which can be decorated for any theme. In the back where they serve the booze are groups of round tables and umbrellas . They have large horseshoe pits , and corn hole stations. Basketball (Full & 1/2 Courts),Softball Fields,Volleyball Courts, Ping Pong Tables, Badminton Courts,Soccer Goals, Permanent & Lawn Bocce Courts, Mini Golf On the back side of Forest Lodge is where you will find the food area. There are multiple walk-up style windows each serving a different type of food. Example: hamburgers and hot dogs, fries, corn on the cob, fried chicken, ice cream and picnic foods in the summer and in the fall Octoberfest German foods. The Forest Lodge is so big they can handle 600 or more people. There's plenty of room on the grass to have lots of vendors if it's a fundraiser or event and it's very easy to walk around. They even have a stage for bands to play. There is several large parking lots and there's only one way in and out, so if you have an event that you will be charging for you can collect the money as people pull up. They have Attendants and flag personnel. The Forest Lodge has a large Olympic size swimming pool and kiddie pool and changing area.They have a large deck and lounge chairs that surround it There are certified lifeguards on duty in the summer months. We attended a pto party at the forest lodge this Saturday. The facility staff is a true five start crew ! The forest lodge reminds me of a country club with a pool and outside facility for summer parties . The main building that houses the events such as weddings , birthday party , and other family or township events. We had a amazing dj that's was brought in by the Watchung pto and photo booth that was a big hit! There were about 70 kids or more running around ect but the stafff was excellent in dealing with them . The negative part was they had to put up a tent outside with heaters but sorta took away from the large ball room party . The food was ok , but I know the pto was carting towards the children. The manger Scott was excellent and took care of the townspeople needs ! Would recommend this place only for people that Are having a event that's 200 people or less in my book because I wasn't fond of the outside tent set up . read more

After Covid threw a wrench in our destination wedding, we were fortunate enough to find Forest Lodge. We had our wedding this past weekend outdoors at their Sherwood Chalet. Linda & Anthony helped pull together the most amazing wedding in just one month. The space itself is gorgeous, and they allowed us to customize it however we wanted, keeping it intimate and fun. We had our wedding at The Forest Lodge on October 1, 2022 and we can't say enough amazing things about Forest Lodge and the team. From the moment we booked the venue, Anthony was there to answer any questions and ALWAYS ease my crazy bride mind. From start to finish they had everything covered and I didn't need to worry about a single thing. Anthony, Sean, and the team at Forest Lodge made my wedding day (and the days leading up) SEAMLESS. They set up all of the decorations perfectly and the Sherwood Chalet room was transformed into my dream wedding all thanks to Anthony and the staff. It rained on our wedding day and Anthony and his team did everything in their power to still make 180 guests comfortable and the day was more beautiful and BETTER than I could have imagined. Had my wedding at Forest Lodge in May 2021 and cannot overstate how amazing this venue was. Anthony and his staff treated us like royalty and were so attentive to our needs on the big day. We decided to make our wedding completely outdoors. Ceremony and cocktail hour in the Sherwood Chalet patio area and reception in the Maple Grove area where they just renovated the entire space, added a tent alongside the pavilion, and spruced up all the grounds around the area. It was gorgeous! We fit 150 people here with space to spare. Leading up to the wedding Anthony made us feel so comfortable and would always respond to our questions quickly. He worked with us on customizing our menu and got creative to make it fit our favorite cuisines. When it came time to eat we were so happy with how delicious it all was and that it was never in short supply during cocktail hour. The staff was hustling to make sure every station and display was filled and waiters were always walking around with passed items. I threw my husband a surprise 40th birthday party at the Sherwood Room last night. We were absolutely blown away by EVERYTHING! They worked with me to create the perfect curated cocktail menu for the party, even creating some new dishes that were a total hit! They could not have been easier to work with during the process of getting everything just right for the party. On the night of the event the staff was beyond accommodating, putting up tents outside within minutes of rain starting, making sure glasses were topped off and that food was readily available and plentiful. For my company I'm the head of HR and being a one man department means that I am also responsible for planning all the company parties. Forest Lodge was an incredible space and it was absolutely perfect for our 4th of July picnic. Since it was the day before the 4th, we had the entire place to ourselves which was amazing. From the time I started planning and booking the event Forest Lodge really took care of everything. They were slightly more expensive than when I would organize everything from catering, event space, etc., but the beauty was I didn't have to do a thing other than show up. The staff made sure that all the games were setup when we arrived, food was ready when the first people showed up, and everything was well staffed from the kitchen to the pool. Since we were the only company on the facility there was no worries about competing in the food lines to get stuff. Basically they have one large building where all the food is served from ice cream, fried chicken, burgers, sausages, fries, etc. You get in the line where you want the food and they'll feed ya till you're stuffed. For a picnic this couldn't be beat. The food was good if you're coming in with the right expectations. If you're thinking you're going to be served food that's top chef quality this isn't it. It's just basic, good old fashioned grill food that you would expect at any neighbors backyard. The fried chicken was great, fried fresh, and a huge hit with everyone at the company. After spending the last couple of years running around like a chicken with its head cut off, there's no way I'm going back to planning everything again. I just had my wedding at Forest Lodge in the Sherwood Chalet room this past Saturday and everything was PERFECT! We had about 125 guests at our wedding. I want to start out by saying I like the flexibility of Forest Lodge where you could pick a theme and hit the ground running with it! I liked the laid-back ambiance at Forest Lodge and it is perfect for any event. Scott Dublin was my Maître d' and he was professional, detail oriented and extremely easy to work with. Linda Tyler was the owner and she was also great to work with and very responsive. Although the weather was not exactly on our side (it rained/drizzled that evening), nevertheless, my guests enjoyed cocktail hour indoors. There bar service was on point with two bartenders and my guests raved that they did not have to wait to receive drinks at my open bar wedding. Cocktail hour, dinner service, and dessert all flowed smoothly with their waiting staff. We did a sit-down dinner and the food came out at perfect times. The food was delicious, and our wedding cake/pastries came from the amazing Bovellas bakery (Mountainside, NJ location). Forest Lodge offered the option of having a ceremony at the venue itself in the beautiful outdoor space; however, we chose to get married in a nearby Roman Catholic Church (Our Lady of the Mount) that is literally 3 minutes down the road. I then made my guests check into a nearby hotel (Marriott at Basking Ridge, NJ) and set up a shuttle bus service to pick up my guests and bring them to Forest Lodge. We also had shuttle service to return them to the hotel after the event was over. Please note that there is plenty of on-site parking. The layout of the room was great. It had smart lighting that could be adjusted to fit any color that one desires. There is also good size dance floor inside the Sherwood chalet. The outdoor space was beautiful with a good size patio for guests to mingle, a white beautifully decorated white gazebo for pictures and a fire pit where one can relax. Scott and Linda also went above and beyond. They allowed us to create recommended bar drinks for my guests to try out at the wedding--we did a craft beer for my husband and I chose the classic Moscow mule. We had our whole wedding out in The Maple Grove which is so naturally beautiful and was the perfect backdrop to our big day. From the beginning, Anthony left the metaphorical door open to as many questions as I could come up with. He was so responsive and helped us reschedule our wedding in a single evening when we had to change dates just months before the original date. Sean was the same, jumping in during the month leading up to our big day and helping us finalize all of the details that made our day absolutely seamless. Day of, Charlotte was our bridal assistant. She was AMAZING. She was my advocate during pictures, helped the men find all the things they kept misplacing, and kept the drinks coming all night long. Also, it was pouring rain most of the evening and she had a huge smile on her face while getting drenched escorting guests into golf carts, holding umbrellas, and generally making sure that we were all happy. The food at Forest Lodge was amazing, from the tasting to the day itself. Our guests were so impressed by the dishes and presentation. I wish I'd had time to eat more of it! Anthony and Sean worked with us on including everything we wanted within the package we chose. Went here for a wedding recently on a beautiful Saturday late afternoon. The ceremony was held outside in a nice setting right at Forest Lodge. There were tons of appetizers brought around by the staff, my favorite being the beef slices and the potato pancakes. The meal was served buffet style and was pretty good as wedding food goes. There was plenty of food leftover if you wanted seconds. There was an open bar which was served very efficiently by the bar staff. The waitstaff was exceptional...friendly, very attentive, and good at their jobs. Truly superior service! I was told the cost was about $75 per person, which seems like a good value for a very nice venue. There was adequate parking and the place is located in a pleasant, quiet, and safe area. read more

This place reeks of rancid oil that they use to fry the French fries and frozen chicken. The food was horrible, the cheapest junk that even public schools won't serve to kids who don't know better. You need to stand in line for different foods, one line for hot dogs and hamburgers, one line for chicken and fries, etc. If you are at an event with hundreds of people, you would need to stand in line for 20 minutes for a hot dog, then get up and stand in line again for something else. Even the ice cream was cheap chemical weird stuff. Pool was dirty. read more

We got married at Forest Lodge on 10/6/17. The wedding was absolutely beautiful but even better it was so much fun. People have been telling me how much they truly enjoyed themselves at our wedding. That makes me so happy. The Sherwood Chalet at Forest Lodge is a beautiful venue. We had 125 guests and it was perfect. Matt was amazing! He helped with every detail. He made sure we were happy throughout the night. He even made sure to bring me the vegetarian offerings from the cocktail hour so I wouldn't have to hunt them down which I just thought was so sweet. Linda was also great! She was realistic and helped put things in perspective for me. I completely enjoyed the planning and execution of our wedding with Matt and Linda's help. Words fail me to describe how wonderful our wedding day was at the forest lodge. Our wedding was 11/01/19 and it was a dream come true!! We saw the venue for the very first time last winter and met with Abby and VP, Linda. After we booked in the spring we mainly dealt with Scott , the event manager. I can't say enough about Scott, I had a vision and he brought it to life. Scott stayed late many times to meet with us, he listened, he offered suggestions and called us to double check when he wasn't sure about something. But most of all, Scott has a very calming effect. We were very nervous about the weather but we ended up being able to do our ceremony outside as planned. My mom, my daughters and I got ready in the bridal suite, our attendant for the day was Denise. Denise went above and beyond for my family and I and we will forever remember her. My now husband and son hang out at the Sherwood chalet so we didn't see each other until first look. We were running behind and Scott came to the rescue and got us back on track. The food was absolutely amazing!!! Linda stayed with us until we went to be introduced at the reception, she really did not to have to do that but she did! Every single person at the forest lodge was focused on US on our wedding day, we felt so special. The servers and bartenders were attentive and pleasant. Our family is raving about them. I went to their Oktoberfest last year and it was OK because we liked the beer and the band. We were going to go today and I find out they postponed it to next week when we cannot go! The place is all under cover, so why not have it regardless of the rain? As a previous poster put it, the food is bad and you have to wait in a different line for everything, so it is not that enjoyable to eat there. I will not even plan on ever coming back. read more
