There are many hiking trails, including the Sensory Trail, a child-friendly 0.3 mile loop with special sensory exploratory features such as talking kiosks, musical play, and garden structures. There is also a playground and picnic areas in the vicinity. In addition, if you care to explore other parts of this 2,000+ acre reservation, drive or hike to nearby Watchung Stable to see the horses and riders; and for sure visit the Deserted Village of Feltville, a can't-miss area of Watchung with historic buildings dating back to the 18th century, and is a cool stroll.

We have joked (but not really joking) that other entities should take notes on not only how to do proper communication but then effectively implementing and providing an environment in which all participants could feel safe. If the Breene family can provide this type of atmosphere under the circumstances they faced this Summer, imagine the experience they can provide when, hopefully, things are a bit more normal next Summer! Prior to the pandemic, my oldest daughter had attended the school, so I am able to compare. My first daughter's pre-pandemic experience there was good, however my second daughter's experience was terrible. It started with a few months after enrolling her there I found out for two months they had been serving her the frozen lunch I was sending her to school with. They were no longer heating up lunches in the microwave like my first daughter. I found out from my second daughter telling me why she didn't eat her lunch "it was too cold." For two months they had been giving her frozen chicken nuggets and it was my fault (after confronting them) because we did not see the message that lunches were no longer being heated. Next, when I would pick up my daughter the teacher, or helper was coming out and saying she had a bad day today. I was clueless until after a few weeks of this she refused to go back (and I mean refused). She had lost all confidence to go anywhere or see any strangers. It was terrible. We took her to see help and we were told that she had gone through a regression, like a three-year-old going back to a one and a half year old. Confronted the school and they said it was her fault, she doesn't listen and goes around the classroom. That sounded like all three year old to us. We asked the school for her teacher to meet us and show affection to her, but she was cold to her. We felt so bad for her we took her out of the school. It took us months to bring her confidence and self esteem back. When I grew up a three year old was accepted unconditionally and supported to stand on their own. Not so at this place.

I went…read morewith my girlfriend and we got to paint the cutest family of cats, although my kitten came out more like a puppy (my own fault). The instructor, Cesar, was very thorough in explaining how to go about painting the cats, down to the whiskers. Along with giving us tips on how to use the brush properly and teaching some painting techniques, he would also crack jokes and make conversation. Most importantly, he was patient with others who needed help with their cat's missing limbs. The setting was intimate. The room fits about 12-14 people and so Cesar was able to give enough attention to each painter. Overall, it was a friendly environment to meet new people, pick up a few painting techniques, and have fun while painting!
