Came here with 5 to 6 other ladies for a private session which was held on the 2nd floor of the spot. We were seated down and provided instructions on the process. We had one instructor and one assistance. They were very courteous and friendly. They helped us every way during the process. We brought our own wine and chatted and laughed amongst ourselves and really enjoyed our time there. There is street metered parking as well parking lots. She taught all 9 of us newbies how to try to make something on a pottery wheel. We laughed a lot, she was really funny, put us at ease, and very patient as she helped every person make their pieces. November 24, 2023 - My friend and I signed up for Try It Friday and it was so much fun! Our teacher, who I wish I remember her name, was GREAT! She was friendly, energetic and such a teacher. The teacher provided step by step instructions and a would also walk around the room to help everyone. We were given one ball of clay and told when we finished it, we could get another if there was still time left in the class. At the end of the class, we were asked to pick colors for each pottery we created as the staff would be painting them (if we wanted) once our pieces and baked in the oven. I was sad I couldn't take the pieces I made home that same night since I live out of state, but it's not anyone's fault.. it's clay.. it literally needs to bake haha I can't wait to see the finished products! And I hope to find a place like this in my new home state because it was so much fun and would love to have this as a hobby. read more

My daughter and daughter in law treated me to a 2.5 hour Mother's Day brunch w ceramic painting. You choose you ceramic and colors and paint while enjoying a delicious, special and beautiful display of foods. Charcuterie, cheeses, fruits, and a mimosa bar. There were muffins, cupcakes, breads and sandwiches as well. Plenty of employees were walking around if anyone needed any advice or help while painting their items. They were very helpful and friendly. In one week we will get our ceramic back and they will glaze them for us which will change the look and make them shiny. I can't wait to get my finished product back and I had such an enjoyable time with my girls and I would love to do it again. read more

I was looking for a cool beginner activity for my dads birthday and This studio popped as something potentially interesting to do. Booked the try it class for two on Sunday and showed up for the perfect rainy day activity. It was a little on the pricier end, but you get two clay pieces and an hour and a half of instruction and work time so it was a good value. Our instructor was very helpful, she demo'd the whole thing for us before we started and then ran around for the rest of class helping us all out with our technique and fixing any issues on our wheel as they came up. She walked us through our first piece step by step and then let us do our thing for the second. A few people messed up and couldn't finish a full two pieces and she just gave them the ones she made to take home so everyone got something at the end of day! Haven't seen how the pieces turned out yet- I'll pick them up in a few weeks but they'll be glazed and painted then, I'm excited to see how they turned out. This is an artist's paradise! As soon as we entered, my Bestie and I were greeted warmly, toured through the studio, then left to pick our pieces. Once we had made our choices we were told to choose our paint colors and shown the supplies we needed. What attracted me to this pottery studio were the many reviews that the staff were patient, friendly and kind and I totally agree. Another plus was that we needed no reservations and didn't have to pay firing fees or by the hour like most places. The studio was very clean, well supplied and other options like canvas painting , throwing on a pottery wheel or hand building are offered. They had a wonderful selection of items to paint and an entire seasonal area dedicated to Halloween. The pieces seemed a little pricey but if you factor in not having to pay firing fees and an hourly rate, the price is quite reasonable. There is convenient street parking and a metered lot across the street. If you go on a Sunday parking is free. read more

I recently completed a 6-week clay throwing class and I had an incredible experience. Anthea, our instructor, is not only warm and engaging but also incredibly skilled at adapting to different learning styles and levels of experience. One class, Nicole, the mud room manager, stepped in, and her fun and inviting personality added to the overall positive atmosphere. What sets this studio apart is the diversity in teaching styles and techniques. Anthea's philosophy, "For every potter in the world, there are just as many different techniques to do the same thing," truly resonates here. The studio itself is a gem - clean, well-lit, and meticulously organized. One of the major draws for me was the unlimited access to studio hours included with the courses. This not only allowed me to practice what I learned but also gave me the opportunity to interact with the friendly and inviting staff. At the beginning of the course we were each given 10lbs of white or brown clay, your choice. This lasted me the entire 6 weeks though if you run out you can purchase more. The clay also included firing and glazing costs. I am genuinely impressed and will undoubtedly be returning for more classes. If you're looking for a pottery studio that offers excellent instruction, a variety of techniques, and a welcoming environment, this is the place to be! read more

I don't even know where to begin, I love this place so much. I've done 11 projects at this studio in the span of 1 month and I have a non-artistic full time job. I've been to other places and this is BY FAR THE BEST, in every aspect. 1. large selection of reasonably priced, good quality ceramics 2. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff (and enough of them) 3. No session time limits 4. No color limit per person 5. You can take home supplies to finish your project and bring it back to be fired 6. They say your pieces will be ready for pickup in 7 days but most of the time they're done in less than a week 7. Just the most accommodating place of business/studio/sacred space ever and I'm grateful and a client for life. It doesn't matter if there are other places closer to you, just drive to fire me up because it's worth it. I drive 30min to Fire Me Up and I love every minute of it. read more

This was a sweet place to spend a weekend afternoon. Close to NJTransit so easy to get to whether you're coming from elsewhere or if you're a local, Fire Me Up is an awesome paint-your-own-pottery place. There are examples all over for inspiration, and it's BYOB (no corkage fee) so feel free to bring some friends and booze it up. That said, it's also family-friendly so there might be some kids running around as well. The colors you paint will likely be deeper and darker than they appear once the pottery is glazed and fired. But remember it takes about a week to be ready to take home, and you've already paid for it, so don't forget to pick up your art! I bought my Mom a "try it Friday" class for her birthday- it was a 2 hour intro to pottery wheel. There are (6) stations and we had Justine lead the class. She was really nice, patient and did a great tutorial on how to get started with pottery wheels. It was nice to have her step in throughout the night to offer help along the way. It was a little stressful never having used a pottery wheel before but since it was a small class you could ask as many questions as you wanted. It was overall a fun time and after the night is over they will paint and fire your pieces for you. It was a little expensive at $49 a person, I wish it was a little longer but it was a great experience! read more

Love this place! I signed up for a wheel throwing "try it" class and ended up signing up for the 6 week wheel throwing workshop. Only 2 weeks in but everyone is extremely nice and helpful. The cost may seem like a lot but it includes 10 lbs of clay and assess to all the glazes, tools and lots of instructor guidance. The other cool thing is the workshop gains you assess to practice on your own during open studio hours. I look forward to Tuesday nights and can't wait for my finished pieces! read more

Absolutely love this place. I just hate waiting a week to get my product but that's part of the whole ceramic thing. The people who work there are always so helpful and friendly. They have good choices of ceramics and offer more services but I only have done ceramics. They stay open until 9 which is great. They offer stencils with the ceramics but you have to ask for it. They give you tips on how to paint things for the depth of the color. Also when you get ur stuff they tell u not to use in microwave or dishwasher when you make eating stuff utensils. read more

Be very weary of the signs posting the cost of the ceramics and confirm the costs before painting. I took my GS troop and asked my girls to select something from the shelves that was $25 or less and they had a hard time finding a piece when they came across a big monkey piece. The sign was for a round coin bank $22 with the monkey pieces just above. I was emailed the itemized bill later and firstly I was charged $39 for a Chewbacca piece. When I questioned that, I was refunded $4, but that still meant I was charged $35. Upon picking up the fired pieces, I checked again to the display of monkeys and still see the sign with the monkeys as $22. I showed the 'person in charge' the sign and the pieces and the response was 'Oh! we move things around all the time' and was completely dismissed. I emailed a picture of the shelf with the piece and the sign to the owner and so far no response. I'm very disappointed with the lack of response and will be warning my GS service unit to avoid this location. read more

We booked a painting session months in advance. A very sold out event. We fell very sick the day before. I reached out to see if we could reschedule. Within seconds, I received a response from Tammie. It was the nicest message. Accommodations were made for both of us. I even received a message a few days later seeing how we were feeling and that we could pick up the pieces if we couldn't make it by the October date. I've never received such stellar service and concern from a retail store. This is beyond over the top and can't wait to visit the store and paint our trees and wreaths. Great place for a date night or night out with the kids or friends. You can bring your own wine with you. Unlike most of these places on a Saturday night this place was full. The prices on the pieces include everything (no sitting/time fees or extra charges for materials) you need so don't let them scare you off. The girls there were very helpful! My friend and I chose to do bubbles and stencils on our pieces and one of the girls was super nice and helped us out. Definitely a unique and fun night out. There are so many restaurants within walking distance that you can easily make a night of it. read more

I would give it no stars if I could . On feb 13 my son and I went in to paint ceramics . We stood at the front for at least 10 minutes before we sat ourselves . Not one employee could help us . But they didn't have a problem rushing us out to fit a party . Today is March 7 th ! Went to pick up my ceramics one piece is ready the other one was just fired today I think it's extremely unprofessional rude and horrendous business that after almost 4 weeks one piece is done and the other one is not you didn't have a problem taking my $65 for two small pieces of ceramic's but all of a sudden you don't know how to fire one piece as a set. I was told that both pieces would be done within one week it's been almost 4 weeks . I would not recommend ever coming back here or utilizing your services again. The owner called about a half an hour after I posted this to inform me that the piece in fact had been broken by a cleaning agency they hire at night . So her employees misinformed me of my piece being fired today ! I find that extremely ridiculous that you hire a cleaning service that is well aware of its surroundings and pieces are being broken and or misplaced no one is on the same page. The business is ran completely backwards I wanted credit for my piece which I did receive today . I will never be back and I will be looking for another studio that is ran professional and conducts themselves with professionalism. read more

My teenage daughter had been a big fan of this place until recently. Approximately 2-3 months ago, she and a girlfriend had gone in to be creative. My daughter is a huge Harry Potter fan and had taken almost 2 hours to paint a beautiful Slytherin plate. We didn't hear from them on when it was ready and called back a few weeks later. My daughter picked it up and brought it home. When she opened the package, the plate was cracked into several pieces. My daughter, herself, called the business and explained that she had just picked up the package and it was broken. They agreed to allow her to come in and paint something else free of charge. So my daughter goes in last month and takes about 90 minutes to paint another plate related to Harry Potter. She takes a picture of the final product and it was very impressive. A few weeks pass and we don't hear anything from them. My daughter calls and she is told the plate is ready for pickup. My wife and daughter go in to Fire Me Up and they tell her they can't find it. They are told they have a new "system." They are told they would look for it and give us a call early the following week. Needless to say, they don't call and we had to call them. The Manager tells them they are still looking for it and she would call later in the evening to tell them one way or the other. The manager calls back and tells my wife she can't find the plate. The manager agreed to give her the money back plus a gift card for $20.00 to use again. We aren't going back. When my wife and daughter went in to pick up the gift card and money back, the employee who helped them had no idea what was going on and had to call the manager on the phone. The employee told them there was a flood in the basement and it possibly got lost there. The employee also told them there was a no filing "system" and she was still getting used to it. Fire Me Up needs to call customers to alert them their items are ready. They need to be more careful about breakage and losing items. Unfortunately, We've had enough bad experiences where we won't be back. read more

Tammy the owner and her team were excellent! We celebrated my good friend's 40th birthday there. We painted a canvas while enjoying great company and great service. Tammy had cuban sandwiches, cheese to enjoy with our BYOB, water, wine glasses, etc. Her attention to detail was great. We forgot to bring candles to put on the cupcakes we brought and she quickly provided us with an over the hill, and the numbers 4 and 0 to add to the cupcakes AT NO COST!! Where can you find service like that?! They had young ladies walking around helping us as we needed with our canvases. I especially appreciated Alyssa for being a great sport with me and helping me with my canvas since I'm not the best at painting. I highly recommend Fire Me Up Studio for a girls night out, family day out or date night. They offer other activities such as pottery and glass making. Went on a Saturday afternoon to do a family activity...thought it might be nice to paint some pottery. The staff is lovely...they set us up with a table right away and walked us through picking our pieces and how the paint situation works. Wide variety of choices including mugs, plates, banks, coasters, pitchers, picture frames, animals, letters, etc. Some of the prices were a bit ridiculous but then again, this is not something you do all the time so not too crazy considering that. They kept coming around to check on us which was really nice. The place is very clean (including the bathrooms). At the end, they walked us through the paying and pick-up process. Went back the following week to pick up our pieces and everything looked amazing! NOTE: the colors will be significantly deeper than what they look like when you leave the pieces...also, if you do paint splatters the paint may not dry the way it looks, it may spread a little. If you leave streaks and fingerprints, you'll def notice them in the finished product so double check your work. read more

I LOVE Fire Me Up, as does everyone I've ever taken here! The space itself has such a relaxing, inviting atmosphere. It's a great place to stay and paint for a while. Which you can do- unlike other pottery places, you're only paying one fee and can come back unlimited times to finish your work. The owner is so accommodating in regards to food, too. We wanted to leave for a bit to eat at Avenue East, and she was so sweet, suggesting that we should just bring it in! My sister also hosted her birthday party here, and about 18 nine year olds had the best time. You can bring your own music, and they create a custom chalk drawing in the room of the party. Fire Me Up is a wonderful creative space. I went with a group there. The team at FMU was wonderful - accommodating, helpful, kind, and very flexible. Our group did some ceramic painting (and also got a tour of the awesome upstairs party space when one of our group members asked what was up there). This place is fantastic! I've taken my almost 3 year old daughter here twice to make gifts for family and friends. The staff is amazing with her and helpful because as we know art projects can get messy with young kids. This place works as a great rainy day activity for kids of all ages as well as a fun adult night out. Cute little place in town for painting your own pottery. My friend and I were looking for something different to do so we headed here and each painted mugs. It's actually very therapeutic! They suggest you go over your item with 3 coats of paint, so if you aren't very artistic, don't start with a very detailed piece that has different grooves and lines all over it (I did and regretted it). It's also BYOB which makes for a fun girls-day-out activity. Pottery can be picked up in 7 days after you paint it. read more
