Unfortunately, as time has gone on, the experience has really started to slide. It's the flagship lounge for KLM's home hub, but honestly, it's becoming a bit embarrassing for the brand. The biggest issue is the overcrowding. It feels more like a busy train station than an exclusive retreat. What's most frustrating is that they have that expensive "Blue" pay-to-eat restaurant taking up a massive chunk of the upper level. It's usually half-empty while everyone else is downstairs cramped together. If they just integrated that space back into the regular lounge area, it would breathe so much life back into the place. As for the food, it's just aggressively average. You'd think a flagship lounge would showcase some high-quality dining, but it feels very "mass production" and lacks any real flavor or variety. Then there's the cleanliness/pest issue. On my last visit, I actually saw a mouse zip across the floor. I know Schiphol has a well-known reputation for a mouse problem because of its location and age, but seeing one in what is supposed to be a "premium" lounge is still a major turn-off. KLM really needs to step it up. Between the crowds, the average snacks, and the uninvited furry guests, it's just not the world-class experience it used to be. They could--and should--do a lot better than this.

Crew were standing at the top of the escalators to direct guests and answer questions. In addition, there were kiosks available if you needed flight assistance. But that's all. After that minimoment, there was only the frustration about losing a whole day in a shitty hotel but that there was an absolute chaos and poor management, poor communication. As business class traveler, I was directed back to the lounge, but within the lounge, there was a lack of proactive information/communication. This lounge has been extended and upgraded in terms of food offering: They propose a nice cold buffet and warm mains in 2 different areas. They offer clean restrooms and showers (amenities included). Plenty of seating and working areas with USB, Wifi, power outlets, TVs and a smoking room. However, they serve beverages and a continental breakfast with fruits available. There are 2 showers and, if you have done traveling, you know this can be a welcome relief after a long flight and during your lay over. However, we were departing so the showers were not needed. This lounge looks out at the KLM planes and a few British Airways gates. Also, although the airport advertises free Wi-Fi, I could only sign in for an hour. However, that provided me enough time for some Yelp check-ins since the Yelp app did not work in many of the locations I visited. Personnel were very friendly, spoke English, and kept the lounge clean when people left their garbage, dishes, and newspapers strewn about. There is a huge departure board that alerts you when to start walking and the time it will take to get to your gate. Safe travels.
