My original flight from…read moreLaGuardia to Atlanta was cancelled, followed by my rebooked flight to Greenville after I had already spent more than seven hours at the airport. Delta offered no meaningful assistance, and I had to ask an agent to find another option. I was eventually rebooked to Columbia, SC, had to pay for a hotel, modify my rental car reservation, drive 4.5 hours to Atlanta the next morning, and pay additional parking fees. After all of this, Delta's response was to reimburse me $24. That amount doesn't come close to covering the out-of-pocket expenses I incurred, let alone the stress, lost time, and complete lack of customer service. I understand weather can disrupt travel, but how an airline takes care of its customers during those situations is what matters. Delta failed to do that, and their resolution was frankly insulting.

The South Terminal walkways are covered, well-marked, bilingual signage throughout, escalators and stairs where you need them to move between levels without a maze. You get glimpses of the operational backend from the overpasses (catering trucks, ground crews, the whole logistics chain keeping flights fed and running), which is a small window into how much coordination it takes to keep a hub like this moving. Palm trees around the perimeter keep the South Florida feel even in a purely functional space. Not a luxury experience, doesn't try to be. It's a transit hub that transits people. Four stars for competent infrastructure and low friction, the kind of airport experience where nothing stands out because nothing goes wrong.
